When I heard it was Akamai everything began making sense. Alot of companies rely on their services.

Akamai has been around since the days of AltaVista (pre-Google). It's involved in prety much everything.

This is another reason that decentralization is so important. Of course anyone can switch their DNS on their devices just like we can switch the nodes we use for interacting with leofinance.io.

I think it primarily affected web sites and not people's internet connection
