I am sure the Feds want to get a hold of him and I wonder if him being convicted will have a negative influence on crypto in general. The biggest issue I have is how vocal he was about taxes and his own holdings.

That is true. He was so 'in your face' about it that they are aching to get him in a court and make an example out of him.
At this point, I think the industry is far passed McAfee. He was 2019 news. The longer it takes for this to get in front of a judge, the more the industry will move past him. He will be fossil like Mt. Gox.
After all, we now have Elon.
