It’s all a question if Cohen outbids everyone but giving him the years too. It only works if the contract allows for the team to continue building a winning product like Shohei did @taskmaster4460le

Cohen has shown the inclination to lose money on the team if he has to. I know that wont go on forever but they cleared out a lot of salaries.
Stearns is also committed to having a couple young guys on the roster each year, to save some money at those positions.
For example, a Vientos for Pete swap would save a fair bit of money over the next couple years. Helps to offset things.
I see him having a starting staff without a high payroll. He will do like he did last year along with developing his own pitchers.
If they don’t sign Soto I won’t be crushed only because I have full confidence in the Cohen Stearns regime @taskmaster4450le there are a few guys out there they can bring in to make the Mets formidable.
Neither will I.
Stearns is about building the floor which is always good. That is why they will be in the thick of it every year. They arent going to field a weak roster.
Pull down a star in FA or trade (or perhaps develop a couple) and the Mets will be in the upper rung of the teams.
I’m convinced of that
