The new business model for online streaming services.....
15 bucks a month for what you used to pay 9 bucks for.
Pay 9 bucks now and you get ads as a 'cheaper' option.
Weird stuff. But goes back to the head scratching models of treating your current customers like crap, while trying to attract newer ones.
How about this concept?
Give your current subscribers, MORE value instead of increasing prices. Crazy I know...
Just to give some examples for us here in Canada:
Disney+ started at 7 bucks a month, it's now up 14.99 a month, 7.99 if you want ads. (I canceled)
DAZN (Canadian sports streaming) started at 20 a month, it's now up to 34 a month. And you get ads, without any other option. (I will cancel after the NFL season)
Paramount+ was only 5 bucks a month, it's now over 8 bucks a month ONLY IF you sign up for a year. It's over 10 a month. (I haven't signed up sign the increase)
And there are so many more examples. This is price gouging and nothing more.
kind of gouging but companies that have input costs that go up
.Min wage/labor/electricty/AWS servers/fuel etc..
then never pay they keep the margin they want and pass along to the rest of us.
This is the story of the last 3 years. or 50 years
Grocery companies and cable /internet companies have made a killing off of humanity during these past few years. There's one thing to increase prices because of rising costs, then there is almost doubling your fees.
true but TBH they are just keeping the same margins.
the inputs into those business'es has gone way up.
but we can agree to disagree
The difference is, with social media platforms such as X, they can keep adding services for the monthly fee.
Hopefully this is the model through 2024 with Leo Premium (even though I am evidently barred from it).
Absolutely. And it just hits different on LEO because of how things are set up for true account ownership. And a vested interest in being served ads lol
Hey I got my checkmark back.
Without a doubt. The business structure is so much different. This is a redesign. Too bad most, even on Leo, do not see it.
Oh you know what will happen....When those payouts start coming in lol 'Lucky' will be the narrative.
Without a doubt.
We are going to see the bitchin' reach epic levels. My goal is to get as much on chain as I can.
And the endless '$1 per month **only for new subscribers... those of you who have supported the product forever have to pay the endless price increases.
Kills me!
Pirate as much as you can ☠️
You know, I used to say no to pirating. I thought the honest thing to do, was pay what I used...But these companies, the trillions they make, just nickel and diming people. They deserve al the hate lol
When streaming came out, the original marketing message was that it made things so much easier and more reliable than pirating.
So you don't mind paying a little for easy access.
Which was the case for a bit...
But between sport, tv, movies and music, there are easily 20 different platforms I would want to subscribe to for something, which just isn't realistic.
They do it to themselves.
Yup, what's crazy, they are pricing this stuff so high, it's making regular cable TV look attractive again LOLOL
I think most of society is coming to terms with the fact that their practices have been unsustainable and propped up by hot air.
And it sure does hurt their bottom line cause nobody likes to pay more for less.
That’s why we are here 😃
Stop paying for streaming services, it just kills your time (most valuable resource) and leaks your wallet. There are better past time activities, like spending time with dear ones, in nature, without electronics.
time to find a new streaming service
