That isnt how it works although people like to claim that. Debt is a liability but double entry accounting means there is also an asset created. People forget that when debt is created, there is someone else who owns it and gets paid.

As for the expansion, that is how economies grow. So if there is economic production, that is how currency expands without debasement.
