Haha, we already had over 150 comments on the #foodtalk threadcast 3 days ago here, but we can make a higher record today. I'm juggling between online and offline activities, so let's see how much I can do here.
Chipotle Mexican Grill really wants to give you a free burrito — and all you need to do is pass this quiz to get it.
On Monday, Chipotle announced it's bringing back Chipotle IQ, its trivia game that tests people's Chipotle knowledge, including questions on its ingredients, cooking techniques, and brand history. And if you pass, you have a shot at winning a "buy-one-get-one" offer.
“This marks the fifth year that we’re testing our fans’ knowledge with Chipotle IQ,” Chris Brandt, the chief brand officer of Chipotle, shared. “With four million game plays since we introduced the concept, we believe there’s an appetite for competition and free burritos. For anyone looking to get ahead, one hint is that we use 48 avocados in every batch of our hand-mashed guac.”
That is helpful. I think if you hit the bulk hours when we get the most traffic, it would be best. That way it can get filled and perhaps others join in.
Yeah, we can. It has hit 120 already. I plan to set up another #foodtalk threadcast after this one ends because the one running now is to make up for yesterday, 19/8/2024.
Yeah, that is true, most times I prefer to cook and the aroma of the food satisfies me such that I won't desire to eat until after some hours or after a short rest.
Lol. I like to cleanup while cooking, it's better that way and doesn't pile up extra work.
Good, let's see how many threads we can make today. I think I have done up to 20 threads this morning, I'm working towards making over 100 threads toady.
Alright!
But the weight of the cup should be much on you...
Just take is easy on your delivery inasmuch that the comfort of your customer is you pleasure, as a customer we also delight in your safety..
The eggs are much in this loaf of bread, I would have added some bell peppers, chopped carrots, fresh curry leaves, freshly grated ginger and garlic to it. It would be more delicious.😋😋 #foodtalk
Grocery store prices are about to get a little more palatable — at least at Walmart.
In August, during Walmart's second-quarter earnings call, CEO Doug McMillon announced that the company is placing pressure on its suppliers to reduce their pricing so it can pass savings on to customers. According to Quartz, Walmart will cut prices on more than 7,000 items across grocery categories as part of its "rollback" deals. However, as McMillon noted, there is one area of the store that customers may have to wait a bit longer for inflation to come down: Dry goods and processed foods, including sodas.
“As it relates to value, we’re lowering prices,” McMillion said. “We have less upward pressure, but there are some that are still talking about cost increases, and we’re fighting back on that aggressively because we think prices need to come down,” he added, according to CNBC.
The statement comes at the same time as Walmart announced its projected sales growth for 2024 to move to between 3.75% and 4.75%. However, according to company officials, that growth is coming from an increased interest in its private-label brands and not from increasing prices. As Quartz reported, Walmart also saw significant growth in its U.S. health and wellness division, including in the sale of GLP-1 drugs, as well as in its e-commerce units and via more high-income households turning to Walmart for value.
Looking to try some of the most exclusive coffee in the world? Get ready to shell out serious cash for it.
On August 7, coffee companies celebrated the Best of Panamá 2024 Auction, highlighting some of the nation's top producers and their beans. This year's event set a new record when the Elida Geisha Natural Torre coffee lot from the Lamastus Family Estate sold for an eye-watering $10,013 per kilogram.
"Thank you to all bidders, and a special thanks to the lot winners, Saza Coffee from Japan," the estate shared in an Instagram post following the auction. As the estate noted, a portion of the lot was also acquired by Grand Cru Coffee, OKLAO Specialty Coffee, Brew Boyy Crew, Ruber Roastery, Pebble Coffee for Simple Kaffa, Paradise Coffee Roasters, and Ruliweb.
We are humbled and honored to receive such recognition," it added. "After 100 years of hard work and four generations dedicated to this product, achieving such greatness with a company 13,000km away in Japan feels unbelievable. We are beyond grateful and honored. On behalf of the Lamastus family and Panama, we cannot express our thanks enough."
Though really, this sale comes as little surprise to those who know Panamanian coffee best.
"I think this was easily the most competitive year ever," Manuel Barsallo, Panamanian coffee expert and head of quality control, processing, and sales for Café Don Benjie, says. "In Panama, we're not going for quantity. We're going for quality."
Buffalo Wild Wings may be known for its chicken wings, but today, it's announcing it's shaking things up with a new meaty menu of sandwiches — and one extremely special sauce meant to spice up the upcoming football season.
On Monday, the chain announced the addition of its bacon-centric menu, which includes a bacon-flavored sauce and sandwiches piled high with thick-cut bacon.
"We are constantly innovating our menu to bring people the best flavors," Tristan Meline, the chief marketing officer at Buffalo Wild Wings, shared in a press release provided to Food & Wine. "From the smoky notes in our new Buffalo Bacon Sauce to the irresistible Bacon Patty Melt, we have raised the bar with our new thick-cut bacon menu, combining high-quality ingredients and delicious flavors."
To get specific, the new Buffalo Bacon Sauce brings together "bold buffalo and smoky bacon for the first time, creating the perfect match-up for the upcoming football season," the restaurant chain explained.
As for its three new sandwiches, those include the BLT Sandwich, Bacon Patty Melt, and the Bacon Mac & Cheese Burger.
The BLT Sandwich, Buffalo Wild Wings explained, is made with " thick-cut bacon, shredded iceberg lettuce, tomato, and bacon aioli on toasted parmesan brioche," and the Bacon Patty Melt is a "hand-smashed double patty, thick-cut bacon, Swiss and American cheese, grilled onions, and bacon aioli on brioche toast."
ure, going to space is cool and all, but is it really worth it if you can't enjoy some Doritos Cool Ranch while you're in orbit?
Freeze-dried ice cream is so Apollo 11. Now, Doritos has finally made snacking in the stars possible with a new chip made for space.
Doritos' limited-edition "Doritos minis Cool Ranch Zero Gravity flavored tortilla chips" are designed specifically for consuming at zero gravity. The chips not only consider how to keep that delicious cheese dust from floating away but also take into account how one might eat chips in space — they're bite-sized, so you can eat them in one bite and don't have to worry about crumbs polluting the cabin.
The chips are scheduled to make their debut on SpaceX's Polaris Dawn mission later this month. That mission aims to take advantage of Falcon 9 and Dragon's maximum performance and hopes to fly higher than any Dragon mission to date, with the goal of reaching the highest Earth orbit ever flown — seems like something that will totally be possible now that they have the right snacks on board.
For the release of the chips, Doritos has partnered with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. As part of the partnership, Doritos is making a $500k donation to the hospital for its mission of the non-space variety: "Finding cures. Saving children everywhere."
Here's how the game and giveaway works, according to Chipotle's press release: Starting Tuesday, August 20, at exactly 9:01 am Eastern, Chipotle will start offering 5,000 BOGO codes per hour to the first Chipotle Rewards members who score a 10 out of 10 on the Chipotle IQ game. A perfect score will unlock an extra credit question, and if answered correctly, fans will be entered to win one of 50 free-burritos-for-a-year prizes.
That's it. That's all it takes. Fans can enter once a day, every day through Thursday, August 22 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern at chipotleiq.com. (Just make sure to enter the email you use for your Chipotle Rewards account to play the game.)
Are you in need of some really good news? Well, you're in luck because the Olive Garden is here to deliver.
On Monday, Olive Garden announced that its fan-favorite Never Ending Pasta Bowl promotion is finally returning on August 26. And it appears inflation has not hit Olive Garden, as the deal will cost you $13.99 — the same price it was going for way back in 2022.
“In the spirit of treating our guests like family, Olive Garden is excited to bring back our guests’ favorite promotion of the year – Never Ending Pasta Bowl – at the same price since 2022,” Jaime Bunker, senior vice president of marketing at Olive Garden, shared with Food & Wine. “Guests continue to look for great deals when dining out, and Never Ending Pasta Bowl is the ultimate value, offering unlimited amounts of their favorite pastas, plus as much soup or salad and freshly baked breadsticks as they choose.”
The deal still includes all the bells and whistles it used to, including as much pasta as guests can handle, along with the reason we're all here — unlimited amounts of baked breadsticks. And yeah, there's also the choice of unlimited homemade soup or salad, but again, we get all the breadsticks we want.
Guests at Olive Garden can also level up their Never Ending Pasta Bowl deal by adding never-ending toppings for $4.99 (which the brand notes is also the same price since the promotion las ran in 2022). For that $4.99, you can choose from 80 (yes, 80) possible pasta bowl combos. According to the Olive Garden, guests can choose from:
Pastas: Fettuccine, Spaghetti, Rigatoni, and Angel Hair
Sauces: Creamy Mushroom (vegetarian), Traditional Marinara (vegan), Five - - Cheese Marinara (vegetarian), Traditional Meat Sauce, and Alfredo (vegetarian)
Toppings: Meatballs, Italian Sausage, and Crispy Chicken Fritta
I’ve always found it curious and kind of charming when New Yorkers use the word “deli” as an indefinite noun as in, “We’re going out to get some deli.” For them, it’s a ubiquitous and comforting dining choice like Italian or Chinese. Not so in Chicago. Instead of neighborhood delis we’ve got endless sandwich shops — places like The Original Beef of Chicagoland in “The Bear” where you can order from a menu that includes some combination of Italian beef, hamburgers, hot dogs, and gyros.
Our delis, on the other hand, are destinations — places we visit for a treat, for the kind of meal that elicits a cardiologist joke. Here, delis come in three basic categories: Jewish, Italian, and Polish. While Chicagoans will argue endlessly about pizza, we seem to be in general agreement about which delis today are the best. Here they are.
Chicago once had a robust number of delis and other food businesses near the late Maxwell Street Market — a hub for Jewish merchants and successive waves of other immigrants. Manny’s has been in the area in one form or another since 1942, eventually ending up in its current location in the mid 1960s, where it has become something of a civic institution. Is it technically a “deli” if there’s no meat market, pickle barrels or packaged foods to go? Who cares when the latkes are so huge and crisp, the matzo balls and kreplach soups such bowlfuls of love, and the warm corned beef sandwich the behemoth of your dreams? I always vow to take half home and occasionally succeed.
The close-in suburb of Skokie has long been a hub of Jewish culture in Chicago, and it’s here that you’ll find the city’s best traditional deli. Kaufman's is the place you go for a ridiculously over-the-top sandwich and end up stocking your kitchen with half-sour pickles, Nova lox, fresh-baked bagels, rugelach, and tubs of frozen matzo ball soup. I’m kind of partial to “Moise’s Pupik” — a heap of hand-cut corned beef or pastrami on corn rye with spicy mustard. (Pupik means “navel” in Yiddish, and I don’t even want to know.) One of these days I’ll try the “New Jersey Bypass,” a double decker with both corned beef and pastrami. Please note the cardiologist joke.
The biggest and most inviting of the north side’s Polish delis, Andy’s is a kind of Eastern European wonderland. The meat and sausage counter serves as the main draw for expats who crowd it for their turn to get persnickety with the counter hands. There’s also a bakery offering great, sour rye bread, those sugary custard or jelly-filled doughnuts called paczki, and fat squares of cake that appear to be at least 50% frosting. Walk past the shelves stocked with imported dry goods to the prepared foods counter in the back, where a generous hot lunch — one meat, one starch, one salad — is yours for about 10 bucks. The choices are vast and include the likes of duck and veal. On my recent visit I ended up with a roasted pork shank, a bed of bulgur in mushroom gravy, and a sauerkraut, apple, and carrot salad.
The city’s West Loop has in recent years morphed from an appealingly gritty former industrial zone filled with the hulking remains of wholesale market buildings and warehouses into a nightlife mecca of wall-to-wall restaurants, bars, and boutique hotels. But if you want a taste of what once was (both figuratively and deliciously), stop for a sandwich to-go at the nearly 90-year-old Italian deli J.P. Graziano Grocery. Its signature giardiniera is famous throughout the city as a key ingredient in Italian beef sandwiches. Here, though, this elixir (which comes in both hot and mild versions) anoints subs constructed on bread cut from crusty, yard-long loaves.
They’re piled with sliced cold cuts and cheeses as well as icy-cold lettuce and tomato. Everything is on the honor system without a ticket in sight. Order at the counter, help yourself to whatever chips and drinks you want, admire the seemingly decorative old deli counter filled with salumi, and wend your way to the old wooden cashier booth in the back. Then just mill about and listen for them to call your sandwich.
Even if you haven’t heard the term “Sunday Scaries,” you’ve definitely experienced them. Whether it’s kids facing an early Monday morning at school after the debauchery of the weekend or adults facing the start of another grinding work week, Sundays are saddled with a dread so unique that it has its own moniker. And as summer vacation season draws to a close and everyone slinks back into a weekly routine, Popeyes aims to draw us out of our despair with a new “Sunday Scaries” menu full of deep-fried diversions.
From Sunday, August 18 to Sunday, September 8 at participating Popeyes locations nationwide, customers who spend at least $10 online or in the Popeyes app can receive a free chicken sandwich along with their purchase. These orders can be for pickup or delivery; you just need to order using a registered Popeyes account. If you play your cards right, you can alleviate weeks’ worth of Sunday Scaries in a row.
Here's what you can get on the chain's Sunday Scaries menu:
Beyond a desire to help customers embrace the end of the weekend, Popeyes clearly has another motive for designing a Sunday-specific promotion. The company takes care to note in its press release, “We’re open on Sundays, and we’re here to bring a little comfort to Sunday Scaries — in the form of fried chicken.” That’s quite the barb, if you know what you’re looking for.
By positioning itself as the fried chicken chain “open on Sundays,” Popeyes is throwing jabs directly at Chick-fil-A, its top competitor, whose religious ownership has kept the fast food chain closed on Sundays in observance of the Christian Sabbath since the restaurant’s inception in 1946. No fried chicken makes for a very scary Sunday indeed.

This cake is worth trying out but I think I would like to add change the recipe. 😁 I'm sure it would turn out great. #foodtalk
Eyes in the food world widened this week with a big merger that links two major players in the world of candy and snacks.
Mars, best known as the maker of M&Ms, Snickers, and its eponymous candy bar, agreed to buy Kellanova, whose crunchy lineup includes Pringles and Cheez-Its. Until last year, Kellanova was part of the W.K. Kellogg Company, which divided itself into two separate entities last year.
The deal was valued at $35.9 billion and in effect creates another king-sized food company with worldwide reach. Combined, they have $63 billion in revenue — $13 billion for Kellanova and $50 billion for Mars. But in food alone, they’re hardly behemoths, trailing companies like Switzerland-based Nestle, whose brands include Nesquik and Häagen Dazs, and American player PepsiCo, which owns Frito-Lay.
The deal comes just as trends in snacks are moving faster and becoming more intercontinental than ever, thanks to video platforms such as TikTok. International flavors from Asia, the Indian subcontinent, and Latin America are pushing companies to become more imaginative, says Raj Konanahalli, a partner and managing director at AlixPartners, the global analysis firm.
Wendy's is here to give you something for literally nothing in exchange.
This week, the Ohio-based fast-food company announced it's giving away free Wendy's kid meals with the purchase of any combo meal. Yes, a completely free kids meal.
The deal, available now through September 2 in honor of back-to-school season, includes a choice of four-piece chicken nuggets (which you can pick from either regular or spicy), a cheeseburger, or a hamburger, along with either Jr. French fries or apple slices on the side, People reported. Kids can also pick their favorite drink, including chocolate milk or lemonade, and will even get a little toy in their kids' meals as a bonus.
All you need to do is purchase a premium combo meal, which includes one of Wendy's premium sandwiches, a side, and a beverage.
There is (naturally) a catch: You have to order through the Wendy's app in order to snag the free kid's meal as part of your purchase. However, the app is free to download and use, all you need to do is input a bit of your personal information to order. And, as People noted, there is no limit to how many times you can access the free kids meal deal between now and September.
This also isn't the only great deal Wendy's has going on right now. The chain is also offering its famed Frosty for just $1 now through Sunday, September 15. As Food & Wine previously reported, there’s also no limit on how many $1 Frosties you can enjoy throughout the next few weeks.

I just woke up from sleep. Again I had a dream. I dreamed that I was getting bullied by some seniors and they were kind of trying to torture me. In the beginning, I accepted it thinking of the reputations of seniors but in the end, they crossed their limit and I lost patience. I have beaten them hard using a stick without thinking about their reputation. And after that, I woke up😅.
I had a dream once that I forgot to study for a very consequential test and woke up and realized I graduated years ago but I felt the same stress I used to about my studies. I realized that stress had lingered in my body and I had to tell myself many times I’m ok now and don’t need to worry about that anymore.

For a long time, I looked for consensus. I think consensus is really the enemy of scale, and so I used to say, “Whenever we’re making an important decision, there should be winners in the room and losers. We shouldn’t find that negotiated settlement that everyone is happy with. Somebody should be unhappy, three or four people should walk out unhappy, and one should walk out happy, and we’re all going to be good with it.” As you get bigger, the gravity pulls you towards consensus, and I think consensus is the enemy of greatness.

What was for lunch?
The beans plantain and crayfish
Oh, you mean the crayfish with bean and plantain.
That meat looks delicious and the way he is enjoying it makes me want to take it from my screen, lol.
I prepared beans and plantains yesterday, but it was just for the boys 😂😂😂..
#foodtalk
Plantains are great! What type of beans?
Nice. Is that crayfish on top of the beans and plantain?
Oh yes, I don't joke with Crayfish 🥂.
Yeah, I can see that because that was quite a lot or maybe it's the way you spread it round the food.
It's much anyway 🤣🤣🤣.
You see, that means it is crayfish and beans & plantain you prepared and not beans & plantain cooked with crayfish you prepared.
Lol. Did you get that?
What do you joke on.
And what is a crayfish?
Is a kid of fish
🤣🤣
You feeding the neighborhood.

Time to make a push for a record food threadcast month.
Get this over 150 today.
I came back to say that this threadcast finally passed 150 comments. This comment would make it 152 comments and if you reply to it, it becomes 153 comments and then more replies are possible. LOL
LOL yes the fill in add up. That is the value of them. Unfortunately the number of threadcasts are dying off.
Hello dear Taskmaster. Yeah, I'm ready for that.
Haha, we already had over 150 comments on the #foodtalk threadcast 3 days ago here, but we can make a higher record today. I'm juggling between online and offline activities, so let's see how much I can do here.
Tell the offline world to go jump in a sewer.
Time for some food threading.
LOL. The offline world needs me too.
You are just valued in so many different ways.
its already lunch, I would like to have burger and chicken. How about that? 🍔 #foodtalk
A burger and chicken together? Or will you choose one?
😂, one after the other. Burger first, I will then use chicken and good wine to dilute them 😎
LOL you are a meat lover.
😂😂😂, yeah, mostly BBQ chicken, I love it.
Hard to beat bbq chicken. It is awesome.
She will probably eat the burger before the chicken, I doubt it's a jumbo burger anyway.
I know you will go for the burger. Right?
I like chicken too.
BBQ chicken is awesome. Hard to beat that. Great for picnics.
That sounds inviting, I will get it in for you.
Chipotle Is Giving Away $1 Million in Free Burritos — Here's How to Get One
Interesting, but wouldn't it have been better in money not burritos?
Well no accounting for what people do. LOL
Lol. You're right.

Over 100. Need another 50.
Yeah, we can do more than that but we will hit 150 first.
I thought about setting up the #foodtalk threadcast early from now on at least before 7 AM EST which is NOON my time.
That is helpful. I think if you hit the bulk hours when we get the most traffic, it would be best. That way it can get filled and perhaps others join in.
Exactly, that will be the best. If I take this pattern till the end of the month, my record for this month will be higher than last month.
Thanks for your encouragement.
We need to get it up to over 150 today.
What was the total for last month.
Yeah, we can. It has hit 120 already. I plan to set up another #foodtalk threadcast after this one ends because the one running now is to make up for yesterday, 19/8/2024.
Some people like cooking more than eating. Others prefer to eat more than cook.
All hate cleanup.
Yeah, that is true, most times I prefer to cook and the aroma of the food satisfies me such that I won't desire to eat until after some hours or after a short rest.
Lol. I like to cleanup while cooking, it's better that way and doesn't pile up extra work.
Always best to clean when stuff is still wet. When it dried on things, hard to get off.
That's true, but when it dries up then it would need to be soaked before washing off.
That is true.
Added some more to the threadcast.
Lol. It's part of it, the conversation keeps rolling in.
Greetings to my kitchen friends, how is your day going?
Greeting foodie friend, my day is going well, thanks. What about you?
My day just began 😁😁😁..
Good, let's see how many threads we can make today. I think I have done up to 20 threads this morning, I'm working towards making over 100 threads toady.
That's pretty cool, although today is gonna be a pretty busy day for me...
Same here, today is going to be a busy one for me but at the same time productive both online and offline.
I wish you the best in your plans for today.
A big glass of water is a good way to start the day.
Even before coffee.
A glass of slightly hot water is what I prefer, it stirs up some reactions in my system and cleanses it.
Do you like tea?
Yes I like tea. What about you?
Iced tea. I am not much for hot tea. I prefer coffee.
This was a quick and creative one.
Amazing what they can do.
Haha, the reality burger looks more appetizing. 😋
LOL they always do.
Amidst your busy schedule, find time to eat. No junk food.
#foodtalk #threafcast
A big glass of water is a good way to start the day.
Yes I agree with you💯%. I call it water therapy. Daily operation.
Good deal. Keep it up.
That's right.
This is very important, at times, I am guilty of it although I snack on fruits and take enough water until I can have a proper meal.
At least you drink enough water, that's good.
We need a lot of shorts of food.
Then post them in here.
I will roll them out gradually. I was working on a short but not food related, hahaha.
I am churning out shorts of different kinds.
We can make them from our phones.
@calebmarvel01 how about making some food shorts from those on YT or TikTok. There are lots there to capture and post on here.
We are good 2go, let's see how it goes 😉😉😉😉.
That is what we do. Lets get a lot of content up there my friend.
Alright boss, 👍😸😸.

Walmart Slashing Prices on More Than 7,000 Products, Including Groceries

This Coffee Just Set a New World Record, Selling at $10,013 per Kilogram

Buffalo Wild Wings Is Releasing a Bacon-Centric Menu and a Next-Level Sauce

Doritos Is Releasing Zero Gravity Chips Fit for Space Travel — Here’s How to Get Yours
ure, going to space is cool and all, but is it really worth it if you can't enjoy some Doritos Cool Ranch while you're in orbit?

Olive Garden’s Never Ending Pasta Bowl Is Back — Here's How to Get It Before Anyone Else

In Chicago, Delis Are Destinations — Not Sandwich Shops
Manny’s Cafeteria & Delicatessan
Kaufman’s Bagel & Delicatessen
Andy’s Deli & Mikolajczyk Sausage Shop
J.P. Graziano Grocery

Popeyes’ New Menu Aims to Tackle the ‘Sunday Scaries’ — Here's What to Know
Even if you haven’t heard the term “Sunday Scaries,” you’ve definitely experienced them.

Mars Is Acquiring Pringles’ Parent Company in a $36 Billion Deal — Here’s What That Means for You
Eyes in the food world widened this week with a big merger that links two major players in the world of candy and snacks.

Wendy's Is Offering Free Kids' Meals to Help With Back-to-School Savings — Here's How to Get Yours
