All it takes is 1 game company to make the move, then the others will follow. Expecting this of legacy gaming companies may be too much, so it may be up to a start up company to get it done.

I think there are plenty of start ups trying but the game quality on blockchain games is still lacking. It's pretty much turn base or timer based.

I agree. I think if we ever get a good triple-A blockchain game, everyone else will follow because it's going to be the new standard.
I'm not a game specialist, but I believe MMORPGs have a good potential to do that. I say this based on the overwhelming success of World of Warcraft. It really created a new standard for that kind of game

In its heyday in the 2000s, World of Warcraft captured the imagination to the point where it became part of the poular culture-- movies and television series would make numerous references to it, ads for the game were all over the place, and Hollywood even spent money for a major movie.
World of Warcraft isn't on that level anymore, but it will remain the standard for games of its type and format. Splinterlands has a chance to do something similar not just for gaming but for blockchain and cryptocurrency.

MMORPGs are a good choice but there aren't really many released. I guess the most recent on consoles would be things like FFIV but WoW has been going downhill quite a bit.

I guess it's a lot of work to get a game like that going. A streamer that I used to follow back when I played more games was recently playing a new MMORPG. I think it's still on closed Beta but I heard it's very anticipated by the gaming community.
Can't really remember the name though but I'll try to find it

Well there are plenty of games. I don't really like the state of most closed Beta games because the developers tend to do a bad job

Yea I heard of that Cyberpunk game was kind of a fail because they launched it with a huge number of bugs

It's a huge problem growing in the industry. Because everything can now be patched, many of the game studios believe it is fine to release things in a half-complete state.
