The recent week and the latest market crash are definitely one to remember for all crypto enthusiasts with the rumors of manipulations and many more flying all around. If there is anything to be learnt, it shows that we need stronger communities for rigid support of projects come what may, where FUD will not be an option! Communities that can win a fight against censorship!!
Why should one person, or a bunch of few people determine how a market operates or how a project survives? And how do we effectively solve the need of having centric censorship resistant communities backing a project?
Well, have you heard of the Great Ape Community on the ever bustling and growing Solana blockchain? If you haven’t or you know just little about the GRAPE Community, be sure to give this article a read to the end.
Understanding the need to build out the necessary infrastructure to support GATED communities on blockchains birthed the idea of establishing the Great Ape community. Making use of two popular platforms Discord and Telegram, they look to effect two important concepts needed for any viable community project to survive, which are;
--Participation Economy: Various events, games, building, teaching and other innovative ideas from the community will attract appropriate distribution of tokens to participants.
--Community Distribution: Also, majority of the tokens will be given out to the community as airdrops.
Furthermore, users will have the ability to link ownership of their social accounts to blockchain addresses to eliminate spammers and bots and ensure that governance decides the direction in which the economy grows with airdrops as incentives. There will be a signing process which will facilitate the storage of users Discord ID on-chain, and a discord bot will be designed to set roles and permissions based on the respective balances of each user. More interestingly, all users will be provided a SPL-Token wallet on the app that can be used for p2p transactions, tipping and voting,
These features will afford the project the ability to easily rebuild the community on any platform and allow direct payment of dividends to all $Grape holders and Liquidity providers in Discord and much more!
Perhaps any of these sounds familiar? It’s because there are bits and pieces of these features all over on the Ethereum blockchain. The Great Ape Community will integrate all these awesome perks and establish them with exclusivity on Solana, where transactions can be efficiently carried out in a relatively fast and cheap manner to support non-financial applications!
To be an adopter, the project has opted to build and drive a passionate community by using the Discord role-giving process rather than the common trend of sketchy form fillings requesting for all sort of private data. With your wallet address being the only vital data needed for you to get an airdrop, getting the OG role will however require some dedication, as you must be ready to read, learn and educate yourself in search of a golden ticket out of the jungle.
The project is set out to give OG roles to; Consistent Content Creators (of any kind of content); Videographers; members who are courteous, original, assist others, and have the touch of random acts of OGness. Being a holder of certain SPL tokens in the Solana ecosystem, and participation in the project’s treasure hunt also give you a shot at getting an OG-role!!

Wow, all of this really does sound interesting. The fact that the project handlers are setting up so much infrastructure in order to prevent spam is something really noteworthy and IMO is a good way to prove their legitimacy(Not fully convinced yet though, still gotta do my research).
Also, I like that they are particular about attracting investors who are in it for the long run, with all the craze going on in the market lately it is absolutely needed.
All in all it seems like a good project for me.
