Yes there is another philosophical concept with reagrd to honesty, i.e. consequentialism-- Honesty subject to circumstances & outcomes. It ascribes "a bit less honesty" if speaking truth could cause significant harm.

Kant is opposed to consequentialism.....Kant says Honesty is indispensable irrespective of cost.
Consequentialism- A bit more or a bit less honesty subject to situation/possible outcomes, cost, etc.
