I think that people engage with what they see in front of them.
For me most of the people that I follow have premium but it doesn't stop me chatting with new people too.
This could be his way to draw a lot of attention, and the engagement of all these premium users is a proof of his success.
btw I agree with @niallon11 and other such users because I really don't think they are not supportive. I keep getting appreciated by premium users and I'm thankful for that.🙏🏼
