Man oh man!
So, the other day I decided to venture back on over to Steem to see what was going on there these days.
I noticed a few things right off the bat.
- It still looks the same.
- The top posts are mostly in Chinese and/or Korean?
- The activity is nowhere to be found.
- Communities are terrible.
I was bored and decided to open up an account there. I heard they were giving out TRX rewards for posts now as well. TRX rewards equal your SP rewards.
So, I made a few posts over the last week. My first one did okay. I received $6+ worth of upvotes. But, every post after that received nothing or a few cents.
The biggest amount of upvotes I received on one of those posts was 5. 😝
Now, I don't claim to be some great author or anything. But, my posts aren't horrible by any stretch. I definitely expected a bit more than what I got. Some posts were cross-posted from HIVE and the interaction and rewards on Hive were FAR FAR FAR superior.
I also noticed the communities are severely lacking as well. The most popular ones seem to be in Chinese. Outside of that and a couple boring English ones, there's really nothing.
I don't understand how people still post there. It reminds me of a graveyard of what was once Steem.
Here is another screenshot of Steem Engine's volume, it's quite sad with the largest 24h volume being only $419 of HIVEP ironically.
Justin Sun really did kill it after all, huh?
So...
I was curious if anyone here on LEO or HIVE are still active at Steem? If so, is it really THIS bad now?

You'd need to build up a following to gain any attention, just like with Hive. Unfortunately, most of those who stayed behind are Korean, so as an English speaker that would be harder to do. After Hive started, the bulk of the English speakers only seemed to be earning anything by slagging off Hive, so once that got boring they might have given up.
I suspect you could play the system to earn, after all, I believe anything goes there. Get an SP lease, self vote use bidbots, earn what you can while the price is high and milk it.
Yeah, but even on Hive, I have no following here. But, I can still earn a small bit posting. And at least at Hive there is some organization to the communities and tokens. Idk, Steem just seems a mess.
Well that just goes to show the community side of things is working here! It's been a long time coming, but it's paid off. I'm looking forward to seeing how we go from here now we've left the worst of the mistakes behind with Steem.

tokens.I switched over to Hive completely when I could.
Same here. I just decided to go back to Steem and see if it might be worth it to cross-post on both platforms. But, it's not looking like it so far.
I left STEEM the day HIVE launched and haven't looked back since. I power down and convert most of the STEEM to HIVE. I wonder how much time can STEEM be above HIVE in price. Because in Value as a whole, HIVE is much better in many ways.

Yeah Hive is light years ahead of Steem now. Like I said in my post, there's like no activity over there. That alone kills it.

nice post and interesting comments. thank you for bringing this up.
Just started using Ecency,it feels more structured and functional. Still trying to work out how to use this network properly, I'll get there someday .
Ecency's mobile app is excellent! But, on my computer I use either https://leofinance.io/ or https://peakd.com/. I've started collecting more LEO tokens. I like what they're doing over there.
Ill have to take a closer look at LEO tokens. If you haven't already got XRP with coinbase they will be giving Spark tokens to holders before the snapshot on 12th December as part of there Flair Netowork's airdrop .
i thought it was a good thing at first - then justin just 'bought' all the servers and turned it into centralized crap -
i immediately began powering down and dumped all my $trx and tokens i had
it sucked because some of them had/still have promise - but i just can't do business like that

Yeah it's pretty sad what happened over there. I think Give and Steen could've co-existed pretty well.
But, Steem is not looking so great these days.
The old chain is dead to me.

Yep, Steemit is ded. We're the new block in the crypto-town!

I was come out from steem first day when Hive was out 👌👌 I use HIVE 1001 %
Same here. I just decided to go back to Steem and see if it might be worth it to cross-post on both platforms to make a little extra $$$. But, it's not looking like it so far.

Do not miss the last post from @hivebuzz:
I plan on using STEEM to backup my older posts. I also want to continue the articles series I started there before this whole thing happened/... The thing is, I'm too busy with HIVE that I didn't do any of that.
There's also a (low) chance that STEEM might be revived, revamped, sold to someone not so oppressive or something along those lines so I do want to keep tab on it every few months.
Thanks for the article by the way, saved me the time to go back and see its current state...
All those posts are on Hive.
Not those, the ones that are on Hive but not on Steem yet. And when I say backup, it's less of a fear of losing them, and more of a another copy of them in another chain.
Oh yeah I get you now, thats a good idea.
Yay! 🤗

Thank you for your discovery :) Once they've attacked Steem and made it centralized, I've stopped posting there and completely moved to Hive only.
Same here. I just decided to go back to give Steem another try and see if it might be worth it to cross-post on both platforms. Figured maybe I could make a few extra bucks. But, it's not looking like it so far.

I am experiencing the same. I cross post the or other post from Hive on Steem as well. Basically no votes or any other feedback.
Powered down and left Steem a few weeks ago. Hive is the future in this regard.
At least for the non chinese speaking population.
Yeah. It seems like the chinese posts get some decent engagement. But outside of that it's dead.
great post! The activity on it alone shows the difference between the sites. I am not interested in a centralized chain that is used mostly by asian users (as I don't speak that language). So Hive all the way :)

Powerdown all my steem and left it wiith just 50 steem, but since Appics is still there a very times i make a post on appics, i just wish appics to migrate to a different blockchain.
The Steem blockchain was already dead long before the arrival of Justin Sun.
Nice
Nope. I don't even think of milking it :)
Ps: learn Chinese and Korean ;)
It always is funny to see that Steem still outperforms Hive.. I wonder how and why. Price manipulation?
The other thing is that the Chinese/Korean population may easily outweigh Hive population.. Is that the reason for better price on Steem? Don't know really.
I have a feeling that will be changing pretty soon. My bet is due to some price manipulation.
But, Hive is clearly more active and has a much more vibrant ecosystem than Steem. I have no idea how Steem is worth more without some kind of manipulation.
Left long time ago and not looking back 😁👍
