Comparison as a word, is something that is always done by our parents, Mainly, among the Nigerian parents.
They always compare their children to another.
Sometimes, life can be cruel and hard. Due to one reasons not the other, people can get stagnated in life. When ayoung adult is not doing good in life, some parents do add salt to their injuries by pressuring them, and comparing them to their age mates, who are doing well in life.

Its really frustrating and less motivational for children, when their parent compare them with other people, instead of encouraging them to do better, and being a shoulder for the children to lean on, in times of need.
Self comparison on be other hand can have a huge impact on an individual.
Unlike the parental judgmental mode of comparison, self comparison can have a very good impact, all dependent on the reason/emotional state behind the comparison.
Comparison can have both a positive impact on a person, and a negative impact as well.
