Manufacturer's official specs say my NAS can take maximum of 8GB of RAM.
I have launched it with 32GB of memory, and it runs just fine> For years.

hehe a spec is not always right
For some reason manufacturer is not confident to disclose this info. Maybe it is not guaranteed, depends much on what type of RAM you use. Who knows...
But personally to me it just proves another thing:
You will not know how high you can go, IF YOU DON'T TRY
Yes you can always do more than specified, but if something goes wrong it is down to you.
