Down here in my town there are a pair of old and famous sayings that goes like this:
- "The one who gets itchy and feels their mouth burning it is because he eats chili"
and - "Those who have been bitten by a snake, when they see lianas and vines, they jump and tremble"
In spanish:
- “El que se pica es porque ají come”
- “Los que han sido picados de culebra, cuando ven una liana o bejuco brincan y tiemblan”
What more or less means that when someone is talking about something in general (to everyone) and suddenly you feel like they are talking about you indirectly. Maybe what they are saying hurts you or offend you, only because you somehow know it's true and it's a fault you have or had.
Therefore don't be surprised that all those who in some way felt alluded to, outraged and offended by what you said in your video without specifically naming anyone. They reacted the way they did because they undoubtedly eat chili or have been bitten by snakes some time.
And now, let the discussion continue!
