I asked a friend if he ever saved and he replied and said, "I don't save. I spend lavishly." Now, he has been broke for some days and there is nothing to save him. I pity him but I don't see him as one wanting to adopt a saving habit or lifestyle.

Sort:

With this economy, it's very hard to have money left to save... I know someone who whenever they save some money, something happens that make them spend all of their savings in less than a year.

Yea, I also understand the economy but I believe saving small will do a big difference. What matters is when you save, you have something to fall back on later. In my friend's case, he had a lot then but chose to squander it even on unnecessary stuff which he could have been wise enough to save the money.

Yeah, if you have a lot, it's not wise not to save.

So sad to have the means to save and not doing it. I never saved when I was unable, absolutely impossible, but now I balance what I spend with building a safety net so no matter what, I have at least 4 months of expenses covered, and building it so it becomes a safety net worth a year of bills and food, and some extra for medicine and other unexpected situations

This is the way, Tsunsica. When you are able, save, no matter how small it is. At least saving when there is enough that will last you for some months even when things become tight.
Thanks for your comment.

Can't save people form stupidity. If they won't live within their means it will always go wrong.

Exactly. I don't feel pity for this kind of people who do not heed to living below their means.

perhaps,he will learn from his past when the present finish dealing with him . A few people who's nature if work brings no ey every now and then believe it will always come by.
