It won't be 81 comments by me next week at least. That's for sure! I'm aiming higher than that! lol. :D

You are totally right though, people should strive for 100 comments. That's ~14 per day and should be doable for a lot of people. Luckily, we have taskmaster4450 and a bunch of other people doing some serious heavy-lifting to increase the overall engagement.

What’s amazing is the comments here are actually thoughtful. It’s not like you made 81 mindless replies. If you go look at Torum 95% of the comments are shit, everyone trying to game the system to get free XTM. Proof of Brain really works.

That is true. I guess it's because people have been longing for engagement for a long period of time and when we suddenly have 50/50 rewards and people can reward both comments and articles for the same curation rewards, it makes things a lot easier.

Imagine a future where a community like HackerNews used tokens to reward top quality comments. Game changing.

Let's just say that the future looks bright.. :)

I gotta wear shades.

We have been waiting for that future for a while @resourceful.

Hopefully we will get some insight coming soon. Blocktrades is going to release his post HF24 update this week, if all goes well.

We will see which direction things go in.

Another valid point. Comments can quickly become another "post" in terms of the educational and interaction benefit.

Having 1,500 comments but most of them garbage accomplishes nothing.

The "great post, thank you" does not deliver much value.

That’s right. Have to be careful what kind of behaviors we incentivize. If you write code that pays LEO to someone based on the number of comments posted, it could easily backfire.

Manual curation is the way.

Yeah manual curation is taking over Leofinance, that is for sure. It makes spamming less profitable and means people are scouring the comment section. This helps people to identify the scams and the one who are just trying to scalp the reward pool.

This helps to clean it up a bit.

I concur completely. LOL

Seriously, you are right. I think we will hit the 1,500 before we know it. As mentioned in another post, we have a core dedicated to commenting. This should attract others into the mix.

I agree with your point about momentum. When more people comment it creates a larger engagement surface, making it easier for others to jump in to the conversation at various points.

One thing I thought about is the fact it provides "material". Sometimes it is difficult to think up a solid comment about a post, especially if it is something that one is not really familiar with. However, with a number of comments in the post, there is usually something for someone to latch onto.
