Lions: Kicking Things To Another Level

Congratulations to all Lions who are getting active in an effort to make this place one of the best applications in the crypto world. While we still have a long way to go, we made great strides in a short period of time.

A couple weeks ago, I put out a post introducing the "Initiative of 10". Basically, it was a call to arms (keyboards) using the idea of posting 10 comments each per day. This unofficial commitment was designed to assist in the engagement on Leofinance.

Most of us believe that engagement is crucial for the success of any social system. With all the projects that Leo is diversifying into, it is vital that the interface, which is the core of the entire ecosystem, is thriving for all newcomers.

Today, we got some results from @leo.stats.

There is a lot of information in there.

To start, we have the top 10 list. This is the leading accounts that commented over the last week.

To contrast from the week previous.

These are the top posters in terms of the number of comments. What is vital here is that comments by the top 10 went from 1,347 to 1,737. This is an increase of 290 (or 29 per individual) over the previous week.

This flowed throughout the rest of the community too.

Here we have an insightful chart.

Here is how @leo.stats described it:

The number of comments went from under 200 to a 900 in the last days.

The idea that we were able to hit 900 posts in a day is terrific. For this, congratulations to the community.

Kick It To Another Level: 1,500 Comments In A Day

Now, I find it time to challenge the community again. In a comment I wrote how good it would be to cross 1,000 posts in a day. That is about an 11% increase over the high we already hit.

However, the more I think about it, we should set higher targets. Thus, my challenge is to get to 1,500 comments in a day. To achieve this end, we cannot depend solely upon those who are commenting increasing. We need to attract more users to the Leofinance U/I and show them the value of commenting.

Does this seem outlandish? A couple weeks ago, we probably would have thought 900 comments in a day from the Leofinance interface was a tall order. However, the community accomplished this is roughly two weeks.

The last chart epitomizes exponential growth. This is something that we are all striving for.

Let us all know where everyone stands. Do you think that 1,500 comments in one day is possible on Leofinance? Are you one who is willing to commit to helping us to get there?

We look forward to hearing what you have to say.

Sort:

Those are some nice numbers. As I started out on Hive I disliked the fact that there wasn't a lot of human interaction on posts.

But numbers don't tell all. Higher number of comments are good if they contribute to the subject.

It would be nice if there was some kind of indicator that you have new comments or reaction on your comments. But this might not be that helpful for the top 10 in this list :D

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Many feel the same way. With all that is going on with Leo in terms of development and outreach, it is vital that the rest of us focus upon making sure engagement takes place.

We found out there is a core group that is committed to making Leofinance the leader on Hive in comments.

Hopefully that group keeps growing and we expand it greatly.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Those are some nice numbers. As I started out on Hive I disliked the fact that there wasn't a lot of human interaction on posts.

That can be discouraging, let's keep changing that for the better.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Very true. That is one way to do that.

We simply need to keep the keyboard busy.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Seeing the boom in interactions on Leo has certainly been an eye opener. Best news is that we are just getting started.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Best news is that we are just getting started.

I certainly hope so.

Leofinance will be leading all of Hive in comments compared to all other interfaces. I would guess we are already there with human comments. Most other interfaces have a lot of bots posting.

The majority on here is done by people.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Not many crypto projects put the power in their users hands to drive the project forwards. Khal is giving us the tools, and everyone is picking them up and running with them.

Definitely the human interaction is an ATH for hive (or steem)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You bring up a great point. Having the tools in the hands of the community which empowers them. On Leofinance, we are the ones who are trying to move things forward.

I wonder how many other tribes/communities will follow suit.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

In a day? That's more than possible, making comments on the UI is something we have to keep in mind. I probably make close to 9 comments in a day, nowadays 10 or even 11 but nowadays after seeing that stats I've tried making the comments on the UI of leo. So imagine 100 unique leo users adding 15 comments that's a staggering 1500 comments in a day, plus replies Its very possible.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

We can play with the numbers a lot of different ways @josediccus and they all lead to the same thing. We can reach the same 1,500 by 200 leaving an average 7.5 comments.

Some will leave more, others less.

The key is to keep growing both sides if we can. More users posting comments as well as others increasing their engagement.

All will have a serious impact.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yeah exactly, many will have more, other might have less. But then the narratives is in our favour to actualise it

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

A vital part is to get newer people involved.

That will really help to grow all the numbers across the board.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

A vital part is to get newer people involved.

This is very crucial. Helping to resuscitate those reluctant and discouraged users to stay back active would be very essential.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Well damn, 463 comments a week is impressive for sure.
Great statistics though. Every time I blink the LeoFinance community breaks another barrier. :)

That is the story of a high growth platform. While we are not dealing with thousands of users, the ones who are here are loyal, dedicated, and committed to making this place move ahead.

Hopefully we keep breaking barriers on a weekly basis. That will make the numbers in 6 months very impressive.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Looking forward to it!
And trying to invest whatever I can along the way.

Do you think that 1,500 comments in one day is possible on Leofinance.

Let’s do it and count my comments

Thanks for the assistance @nathanmars.

We are actually trending higher on the posts from the Leofinance UI since there are people, such as yourself, who comment but do not use the UI.

The stats above are only from the frontend.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Because of you I have started using LeoFinance as number one HIVE UI.

Now its your turn to open Twitter account!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

What is vital here is that comments by the top 10 went from 1,347 to 1,737

That is very true, but I made 43 comments less than last week and you managed to pull off an insane 124 comments more.

  • So hats off to you!

All works towards the average. Some will be down, others up. It is those with the time to be active who help to make up a bit for those suffer from time constraints.

But thank you for all the shoutouts you have been providing.

You are more than holding your own too.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It is those with the time to be active who help to make up a bit for those suffer from time constraints.

I totally agree with that. It's the average number we are going for, so those who have time to be active will have to do some more heavy-lifting. I figured I could use my phone to engage a bit when I'm at work or whatever, so I'll try to keep my numbers up.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

LOL you are taking this very seriously. I am toying around with hooking my brain to my computer so I can comment while I am sleeping.

5,000 comments a week, here we come.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

What can I say.. I might have a habit of going all-in on things when I am passionate. That's probably the reason for me to be single... The ladies can't stand 101%. lol

Jokes a side though, I know I can make at least 100 comments per week, so I'll make sure to do that. By any means necessary! lol

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I believe you will get there. In fact, I think when we see the numbers next week, you will surpass that by a fair margin.

Once one gets into a routine, they just keep coming. Also, as more people start to join in, there is more to comment on.

And so on it goes.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Oh well, let's just agree that I will go for my personal ATH. Should be doable and you've given me enough motivation for it to happen.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I am toying around with hooking my brain to my computer so I can comment while I am sleeping.

Hahahahahaha

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I divide my active time on leofinance into 3 parts (morning, afternoon, and night) and I try to find as many posts as possible to comment. My target ranges from 10-12 comments per. I think commenting is easy when there are enough engaging posts. As much as we want people engaging the quality of content should remain or we might have a hive situation--tons of low quality contents.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I will admit, @nonsowrites, you are one of the success stories with this. Over the last week, I see your comments in many of the posts I visit. It is wonderful to see you kick it up a notch. Collectively, we all will make leofinance successful.

Besides, it isnt as if commenting is hard work.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Commenting is never an issues as long as there is content to engage with. I do more numbers on twitter daily and that's because of the vast and diverse amount of content on the platform.

I'm bullish on leofinance, I need does extra rewards coupled with my purchasing power to my stake. It's been a fun experience for me.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I do more numbers on twitter daily and that's because of the vast and diverse amount of content on the platform.

Hopefully we will change that next month with a new feature that is being added to the UI. It should help those who spend a lot of time in Web 2.0.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It certainly will. Micro blogging is the key. A lot people spend a significant time on discord having micro conversations. They are fast and mostly in realtime and would most likely do a platform like leofinance some good.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yes and often, conversations like that about financial/crypto affairs can be equally as educational and enlightening as blog posts.

This platform will become an educational center for all who seek information of this nature.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Pretty cool to divide it into 3 parts. I don't have anything close to a schedule as of yet, but it might be worth it to stay productive. I often find myself just wasting a bunch of time.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I waste a lot of time too which necessitates the need for some regimen to prompt my productive.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

81 comments in a week doesn’t seem so bad to reach top 10. Folks aiming for that target should overshoot and go for 100. We’ll hit 1500 daily in no time.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It won't be 81 comments by me next week at least. That's for sure! I'm aiming higher than that! lol. :D

You are totally right though, people should strive for 100 comments. That's ~14 per day and should be doable for a lot of people. Luckily, we have taskmaster4450 and a bunch of other people doing some serious heavy-lifting to increase the overall engagement.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

What’s amazing is the comments here are actually thoughtful. It’s not like you made 81 mindless replies. If you go look at Torum 95% of the comments are shit, everyone trying to game the system to get free XTM. Proof of Brain really works.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That is true. I guess it's because people have been longing for engagement for a long period of time and when we suddenly have 50/50 rewards and people can reward both comments and articles for the same curation rewards, it makes things a lot easier.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Imagine a future where a community like HackerNews used tokens to reward top quality comments. Game changing.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Let's just say that the future looks bright.. :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I gotta wear shades.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

We have been waiting for that future for a while @resourceful.

Hopefully we will get some insight coming soon. Blocktrades is going to release his post HF24 update this week, if all goes well.

We will see which direction things go in.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Another valid point. Comments can quickly become another "post" in terms of the educational and interaction benefit.

Having 1,500 comments but most of them garbage accomplishes nothing.

The "great post, thank you" does not deliver much value.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That’s right. Have to be careful what kind of behaviors we incentivize. If you write code that pays LEO to someone based on the number of comments posted, it could easily backfire.

Manual curation is the way.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yeah manual curation is taking over Leofinance, that is for sure. It makes spamming less profitable and means people are scouring the comment section. This helps people to identify the scams and the one who are just trying to scalp the reward pool.

This helps to clean it up a bit.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I concur completely. LOL

Seriously, you are right. I think we will hit the 1,500 before we know it. As mentioned in another post, we have a core dedicated to commenting. This should attract others into the mix.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I agree with your point about momentum. When more people comment it creates a larger engagement surface, making it easier for others to jump in to the conversation at various points.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

One thing I thought about is the fact it provides "material". Sometimes it is difficult to think up a solid comment about a post, especially if it is something that one is not really familiar with. However, with a number of comments in the post, there is usually something for someone to latch onto.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

"Initiative of 10" would be one of the best engagement inititives we'll ever have on this blockchain and the impacts would be sustaining. Like you said, the engagement is not only ending in LeoFinance community. It's spreading to other communities. I'll be doing my best to spreading love through token upvotes to all those who are into this.

Hoping to see a time when we have as much as 10k engagements daily. I think, we're approaching the 4k first target closely.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

"Initiative of 10" would be one of the best engagement inititives we'll ever have on this blockchain...

I certainly hope not @uyobong. While it is successful and I am happy about that, my hope is that we come up with many other ideas that far outpace this one.

It is a great start but just one piece in the innovation wall. Let us think of even better ones.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Looks doable to me! I spend a lot of my limited time engaging my Twitter base and can try to have both tabs open in order to remind me to contribute on LeoFinance. That garden over there needs to be watered regularly, but so does this one. I've already seen the difference over here compared to Hive and will make a point of stopping by more often. This is a good inititive and a great way of attracting new eyeballs to the platform.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

We are glad that you do stop by and help us along.

All hands are needed.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I've been trying to do my part but I don't post on LEO.. I only upvote and comment

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Then you are helping out Leofinance and the initiative.

The comments are registered through the Leofinance UI which you are using, hence that are in the total.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

How time flies, a lot of action is happening in comments so fast. These last few weeks have forged a lot of new friendships through commenting, I'm with you all on this!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Wow! I never thought I would make the top but yet there I am! Coming after you!

I think this chart will go off the roof when loging in with Twitter gets implemented!

Meantime, let's comment the hell out of this!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That reminds me of the good 'ol days on Steemit where each of my posts got tons of comments. Except that LEO comments are way more sincere and interesting in average. Ok, let's bring it on!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Wow! Have we managed to do all of this in two weeks? Very good! Congratulations to everyone who is dedicated to this noble cause.

It really is a long way to get some more expressive numbers, but I also believe that 1,500 comments in a day can be capable. May more people join this initiative and as we know, everyone benefits from it.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I believe this can happen, this train is leaving the station and we are all going for the ride. It will be interesting to see next week's numbers too!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Sweet lol I didn't actually check the reports but nice to know I am one of the top commentators, clearly having too much fun on LEO

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I think LeoFinance is amazing. The changes to the voting curve have really opened up the interaction and self-curating. Hive is too whale focused. Here an upvote is an upvote no matter if I put it on a low-voted. Today I started downpowering my Hive to swap over to Leo's. Like what is going on here.

Hey @taskmaster4450le, here is a little bit of BEER from @pixresteemer for you. Enjoy it!

Learn how to earn FREE BEER each day by staking your BEER.

Love to see the comments increasing. When I first joined Steem I was definitely not a blogger and comments were my bread and butter so this is right up my alley.

I have a question for you that is a little off topic but I am having trouble getting an answer and maybe you would know. Do you know if all the LEO has been returned from the WLEO v1 hack? If I read the whitepaper correctly it said that all LEO would be returned yet I have not received it. Like most folks I have limited time to spend here so I may be misunderstanding or maybe I missed the timeline for returns

I know Khal and the others are busy as can be with all the things going on around here and I've tried to contact him in a couple different places without success. I'm not trying to be pushy but with the announcement of WLEO v2 I am getting the FOMO!! ;)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

This is a great idea. I missed the first post as I hadn't found you at the time but it is something that appeals to me for sure. I will be upping my comment game. I wanna make that list!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Amazing engagement! I have been doing my part, lost track of how many comments I made, I started last Friday and I'm gonna work hard so the next couple of weeks my name is featured on that list.

About this initiative I have a question. For the 10 comments a day it also includes the replies that I make on the comments I receive? Or that is something extra?

I sure can make 10 comments in 10 different posts and I think that it would be better to make comments on new posts or posts that are from new users.

I just read the post of the post about the initiative and I want to make a public commitment here of 10 comments a day and also reply to every comment I receive in my posts.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Wow you are a machine dude!
