As is my nature I've decided to go cautiously with the upcoming Chaos Legion pre-sale and limp in with only $10 000.
It seems silly to not tap some other funds and Vest just a little more into the game at this next major juncture, so I've got the following funds allocated:
- 90% of my cake, which is currently staked for SPS = about $2500
- Some stables I've got kicking around = about $4000
- I'll extract a litle out of the Bleo-BNB pool = $1000
- Some DEC and SPS (hopefully) = $1000
- $500 each of BTC/ ETH/ Cub (or more likely 4/7/4) = $1500.
- = $10K!
I might modify the above and cash in some other bits and bobs I've got floating around.
But will I have enough SPS staked?
I'll easily have 20K SPS staked by the pre-sale, I could boost that to 30K probably just from my drop by the end of September, so I'm hoping that's going to be enough to qualify me for a $10K in.
But I don't know...?
No-one does.
I've got a sneaking suspicion I could well need 100K staked for a $10K-in during the pre-sale and I may well be limited to a lot smaller Vest with only 20-30K SPS staked.
I Probably won't be fomo-ing into SPS with another $5-10K or more just so I can get my desired in. If I'm nowhere near I'll just settle for what I get and then take my chances during the main-sale.
I'm confident there will be a limited amount of the total packs only available pre-sale, and that I should be able to get my 10K-in over the coming year.
I'm in no particular rush, it would just be nice to be able to go in hard NOW!
DEC and SPS goals
- I'd like at least 150K SPS by the end of year airdrop FIN, ideally more than that, but that's a good chunk of my drop so I'd be happy with that.
I'd also like 800K DEC ASAP as follows:
- 400K just held
- 200K pooled with HIve
- 100K pooled with SPS
- 100K pooled with BUSD.
From there I might look to up it to one million, and beyond, it all depends on how the game develops!
DEC and SPS plans in the meantime.
I'm trying to maximise my SPS drop without exposing my DEC or SPS to too much IL in the pools, which are the easiest way of increasing your drop, so I've got the following cycle to work with - multiple hedging.
- Day one - sell everything for Hive or Stables
- Day two - stake or hold everything
- Day three - sell half and pool with Hive or stables or BNB as appropriate
- Every now and then pool some SPS with DEC.
Alternative plans..
Are just to ignore all of the above and make it up as I go along!

I think that their is going to be a voucher system for chaos packs.
Say 1 million vouchers devided based on you sps stake. So of you have 1% of the total sps stake then you will get 1% of the vouchers.
They will also be tokenised so that you can buy the vouchers in advance from another player and do it that way.
I can't see them costing much as their will be a lot of them and a one off use case. Maybe 5 or 10c.
Just something that I heard.
That's an interesting idea - I am actually expecting, like you, a 'pool' limit system based on your percent SPS stake, the voucher thing hadn't occurred to me, it's a workable idea for sure.

Aggroed was on about it yesterday in a stream but didn't fully catch it. This was what i read between the lines form it.
It makes TOTAL sense to me - it occurred to me last week - I was just thinking 'linear limits' on SPS but then I though 'no pool percent makes more sense' but then I couldn't figure out how they'd work around the 'excess' shares the very highest holders would have and more of a problem - the near zero chance MOST users would have (I worked out I'd be able to buy 200 packs if there were 1 million available with my current SPS stake, which isn't inconsiderable).
This token idea makes a lot of sense.
It wouldn't surprise me if you're looking at 50 cents a pop. At least enough to wipe off the value of the discount.
People will go NUTS for these.

I have similar plans, I been hoarding all my DEC so currently have a little over 1 million. I have the hopes that DEC stays at $0.00700+ during presale. I also have about 2500 of the unmentionable token from the chain Hive Split from and about $2000 fiat that I'm thinking about investing.
How I chop it up and what I use to get to that $10K presale depends on (1) what is the airdrop rate for Cl boosters. I don't want to lose out on one million airdrop points if I spend all my DEC. (2) Price of CL boosters during presale (bonuses ect.). If no airdrop points for CL boosters my $10K investment is going to drop to $5K or under.
I like you have the sneaky feeling that the top "bonus" teir for presale is going to be for those with 100,000 SPS staked. I'm not going to come anywhere near that but I should have 30,000+ staked depending on when presale starts. With all the hiccups I suspect the presale to be pushed back until the last week of Sept.
I would also like to see the presale last 6-8 weeks instead of the planned 30 days. Once these packs become openable all our current SPS airdrop rate are going to take a massive hit. So enjoy the SPS you are currently getting as that amount is likely going to shrink drastically for those who don't invest a decent amount in CL.
Yes, I'll be looking at things carefully too - NB I'm expecting a 'percent pool limit' not hard tiers - In the comments theres suggestions of a voucher system, makes sense.
I'm going to spend some DEC but as you say there's a lot resting on it in terms of SPS, so I'm holding most of it.
A $5-$10K Vest should be sufficient to maintain our drop at a similar level, at least you'd hope so!
And when are they going to be openeable? That could be months away!
It's a golden opportunity i think for a $10K in - worth finding the assets for defo, good use for that Steem shit coin too!
That's a good point. I took for granted that the following month when the regular sale happens they will be openable but that might not be the case. Watched the AMA, there's going to be vouchers that will be tradable.

Dec could be also fall massive if packs need 2000 dec. If that's the case it is again a "stablecoin" and a lot of people sell out.

I don't think there are unfortunately, you just have to stump up the cash!
There are very few games where you can earn in game too! Although you have to invest a lot to earn proper money!

You can play for free before buying to 10$ spellbook. Playing for free won't give you monetary rewards, but you'll better know what you're investing in.

For me personally, it's still too early to tell for everything that comes down to Chaos Legion. I need to see all the details first as it will be a really difficult task for them to find a good balance in the numbers. The demand will be huge though, existing players won't hold back and there are so many new players that are looking for a good entry which Chaos Legion should provide.

Personally I'm thinking land - I need cards to man my tract, and also I'd like enough packs to be able to max legendaries (near enough) straight away.
And $10K - it's only a month's worth of drop earnings for me, so it is a minimal risk.

10k$, so jealous! :D But so happy you're able to free up that amount to step into CL. I have no idea about the launch date yet of CL, which makes planning a little more difficult, but I'll probably go by what I have laying around liquid by then and what my staked SPS will 'allow' me to invest :D

'Only $10k'? Splinterlands seems to have turned into a playground of the rich. Most good cards are unaffordable to new players. I do okay, but upgrading some card, especially summoners is ridiculous. Maybe I should just rent cards out and take the money from that.

The packs will be $2 each, and if you don't already have SPS you'll need to buy vouchers to buy them - the vouchers are being dropped to SPS holders.

it will be something new the chaos legion, Do you remember when the land was for sale, there were few purchases and there were more than 50,000 left over, this time I think it will be different. What I admire is that they are affordable in price. They never had the idea of setting prices too high to attract investors instead of players.
Although it has attracted many pure investors too!
