New and Curious About Data Collection on INLEO.io

Quick question on privacy:

Does INLEO log any user data to enhance security or improve user experience on the platform? Just wondering what kind of general data might be collected when we use the site, like basic usage metrics or maybe device info, IP , etc. to keep things running smoothly.

Also, how is this data typically used, especially when it comes to making sure everything stays secure?

Thanks for any insights!

🤷 Maybe someone with some knowledge will come along and answer. @khaleelkazi

Really hoping so.

its a public blockchain.
weird question.

I didn't get what you meant by a weird question so I asked GPT to explain

The person’s response suggests they’re pointing out that INLEO is a public blockchain. In a public blockchain, transparency is a key feature, meaning that transaction data is generally visible and accessible to anyone. This setup can make questions about data collection and privacy feel “weird” to someone familiar with blockchain, as the idea of logging or collecting user data doesn’t align with blockchain’s open, decentralized nature.

To them, your question might imply a misunderstanding of how public blockchains work. Public blockchains typically don’t collect personal information like IP addresses or device info in the way a centralized service would, because their structure doesn’t require traditional user data to function. Instead, information is generally limited to public transaction data without additional user metadata for privacy.

Continuation

Their response, though short, could be seen as suggesting that on INLEO, privacy might already be “built-in” due to the nature of public blockchains.

Is the explanation gpt gave inline with what you meant?

I guess it is possible that the front-end part is generating data on users, don't know if that would be anonymize or not and if they are at all. I guess inleo is the private business part that is using a public database (hive blockchain) for storing user generated data.

For logging data, do you mean when you are actively browsing inleo and not interacting with the blockchain? I guess that would additional data as the other actions goes like upvoting/lliking, posting, buying premium. All that is generating a transaction on the blockchain so it can be logged by anyone. Inleo might have some limited extra data but when you post, people can know at the exact second you did.

As for the blockchain part well most things your are posting via inleo into the blockchain is basic public data and other frontend / people / the CIA can assess that data without asking anyone just by running their own node or looking through people that are.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my threads.

Yeah I mean logging our data whiles we're browsing. I noticed it's a frontend and that's what brought that thought to mind.

With the Blockchain activities (post, votes etc) I understand. Was only considering other stuff that compromise anonymity like IP, phone device etc, like any website would probably do...

That is a valid concern and I have no answer, I guess one way would be to protect yourself on your end using VPN or even TOR if you want to push it that far. You could also choose to interact directly with the blockchain by running a node but you lose the benefits of using the inleo frontend and premium features. Maybe you can have a very anonymous account if you want to post sensitive stuff and a more social account where you can accept the risk of potentially losing anonymity.

I guess I'd go with the Social. I knew about the fact that the hive Blockchain in general couldn't do that, but the front ends built as a site might be able to. I got curious about the policies. But with what I read, it seems they didn't state that one on the policy page so I'd assume they don't log that data.

Anyways I was only trying to see if it's full blown decentralization with all of its dos and don't, but I learned you just can't have it all.
