About 4 months ago, I borrowed about 1300 of Hive from a friend to try out in leasing some amounts of Hive Power to see how it actually works and see how far I can come with it but somehow, I lost track in the calculations.
At first, I thought I may be able to lease about a hundred thousand Hive Power which I would be using to curate contents in my community and also supporting some active Nigerian authors on the chain but I only got about 50k Hive Power with the lease.
I got a 20,000 lease for about 280 per month and another 20,000 for 385 Hive for 3 months with an Apr of about 13.9% to 14.2% which mean in 3 months, I paid a total of 1220 Hive or more. Too much of business made me loose track on my growth HP wise but from my Hive goals posts, I had 7700 Hive Power before the lease and made over 10,000 Hive Power by March. This is a lease between January to March before I started powering down last month to pay back the Hive delegated.
The sweetest thing about leasing HP is that it is very sweet to vote content you love with higher rewards but mind you, you have to watch contents you vote to have a higher curation payouts. This time, your aim is to maximize the curation curve time or curve. I vote quality contents with low reward and within the 5 minutes window of publishing but not always.
Presently, I aim at achieving a natural growth without any lease through a middleman platform, so I would be dropping all Hive Power leases after it expires.
Since I have paid my loan, gotten the money to buy a laptop for easy blogging and dropping all leases after expiration, I have cancelled all power downs and back on my goal of attaining a Hive Power of 10,000 before the end of 2021.
After my examinations is over which is by ending April, I would be back fully active on Hive posting very much regularly and engaging very healthy as I used to. Thanks for reading through....

You are doing well 😄
Come and see my oga oh... Thank you very much sir..
Master strategist, had everything calculated. For sometimes now I've also been wondering how leasing would benefit me, but you given me an idea of how it is, thanks for this post.
For now, you should not think of leasing to grow your account. what you should do at the moment is to engage a little more and get your account noticed by more authors. This is my next strategy after finishing up with my exams..
Yes boss, I hear you and good luck with your exams
Es interesante eso del arrendamiento, sobre todo porque se puede obtener alguna ganancia si hay suerte en la curación. Gracias por compartir tu conocimiento. Un fuerte abrazo desde Maracay.
Thank you... Presently, I just want to give myself a break on the lease for now and see how I can contribute to the platform other than upvotes. Then to mostly get those who would be willing to support me.
This is good work. I'm not very good with maths and got lost somewhere with the apr calculation. 😄 I'm sure the lease helped with your hive growth.
Can't wait to have you active on Hive again. Good luck with your exams. 🍀
smile... thanks very much. It is good to see a few people missing my activeness here but one thing I know, is that I can never completely leave this place as this is where my life is now.
Leasing hp is bad for proof of brain, the folks doing it know, and don't care.
One day their business will die from a lack of suckers buying into it.
Heard that Hive is looking into a linear curation curve. I don't think it would pay for them again after that happens...
The changes in hf25 should make a large difference in the experience of the majority of the users.
It can't get here fast enough, for me.
This will be much different than the last time we had linear rewards.
Hmm.. Would like to see how it would be. Thanks so much for coming by to leave a comment. 🤗
