We have an uphill battle on our hands. The majority of people only really know of crypto as Bitcoin and in some areas crypto is treated with great suspicion. I have had several people on Mastodon dismiss it all as scams. I think we should concentrate on niches where we stand some chance of growth, e.g. places like Venezuela and Cuba.

I agree completely. The reality is the West doesnt really have a dire need for this. That is why they have the luxury of focusing upon price and mooning. Plus the level of impact, in terms of monetary amounts, in the US or EU is much higher than the nations you mentioned.
HBD is powerful because it is focusing upon the unbanked (or underbanked). This is crucial. Here is where thousands could start adopting simply out of the monetary need that is being answered in their community. From there, they can embrace the social side to start the income process.
Hive is starting at the grass roots level in those areas.
