Let us have a little fun today and allow our imaginations flow. The point of this exercise is to highlight some of what is already taking place along with the potential that is before us.
How high can Hive go? Is it really possible we could see 100X from this point?
Those who watch the markets will say no. Hive has received little love there while remaining overlooked in the opinion of many. This is something that is likely going to change.
So let us dig in and we what we come up with.
Decentralize Around Regulation
There is little doubt regulations are coming. All over the world, we see governments starting to pay attention. They are stepping up efforts to get this thing "under control".
Ultimately, they are going to make things very difficult for those entities that it can affect. While decentralization and distribution are the answer, how many truly have that?
@theycallmedan put together an article about moving beyond coin voting governance that spelled out an interesting appraisal of the present situation.
His theory is that anything that is not on the path to decentralized and distributed is going to have problems. The belief is that the time to pursue that is from the start, not down the road. Anything that is established as centralized will only become more so as time passes.
If this is the case, that leaves a lot of entities out there open up to government action. There are major points of vulnerability when it comes to that. When governments find an access point, they will leverage it to no end.
Regulation tends to protect the established systems and the entities entrenched in there. That means that innovation and change are not the priorities. This goes counter to what developers as well as entrepreneurs are trying to do with cryptocurrency.
Hive Is Decentralized And Distributed
When we look at the different chains, we see that Hive does not suffer from the same issue. One of the most profound moves when the initial fork took place was to lock the ninja-mine stake in a DAO to be used to fund development along with other activities. This removed it from the control of any one entity.
What is left the community with is the largest stakeholder having roughly 4% of the total. This might sound like a lot but take a lot at the different companies and foundations. How much does the Ethereum Foundation control? Tron Foundation? Block. One? Of course, this doesn't account for the founders' stakes with the likes of Vitalik and Sun.
This provides a distinct advantage in an environment where regulation is coming. At this point Hive is under the radar of, well, most everyone. However, as the regulatory agencies start sifting through, projects that do not meet this requirement are going to face challenges. This will also have an effect on those Layer 2 solutions.
Do not take this to mean that anything is disappearing. It is not. Ethereum, as an example, is still very powerful and will likely continuing to surge ahead. However, will likely end up in the hands of Wall Street, entities that are accustomed to dealing with regulations. That will ensure big money along with enormous success. It will not, however, bring about freedom for humanity.
It is also interesting to hear some of the cryptocurrency "leaders" talk about the future and what is needed. They have all these ideas which is what Hive already is. Dorsey is a prime example. He wants to "decentralize" things and starts by naming a CEO. This just shows how the mindset of turning over control simply does not exist.
The "Uncovering" Of Hive
Hive will have its day. Presently, everyone has their heads down while proceeding forward. Keyboards all over the world are pounding away. The most important thing being produced by this is code. On Hive, we are seeing a lot of development that is really going to enhance the blockchain as well as the ecosystem in the future.
The Hive Application Framework (HAF) is now in operation. While not in its final state, there is the first application operating on it. This is a revolutionary second layer solution that allows developers to create on Hive without having to understand how to code blockchain. They can use whatever programming language they want, knowing their applications only have to tap into the HAF. Updates to that are handled by those who are experienced with the base layer code.
There is hype which can cause prices of tokens to go higher or there is development. Much of what we see out there is hype. Hive is focusing upon creating applications that people can actually use. We are in the process of coding the "next Splinterlands" right now. What that will be, nobody knows.
We also have the SIP (SERVICE INFRASTRUCTURE POOLS). This is something that keeps being harped upon yet it is vitally important.
The SIP services two purposed for Hive. To start, it locks up supply as people engage in the SpkNetwork, reducing the free supply. This will have an impact upon sell side pressure.
A second advantage to the SIP is that it actually produces. The fees generated can be used for the funding of other projects in an effort to expand the network and growth the potential. It becomes a self-feeding system.
The goal of SpkNetwork is to build "SIP upon SIP". If this idea takes hold, Hive will be the pair for all the different tokens created. This only produces more demand for the token as more activity takes place across the entire network. Again, this starts to further reduce the supply side pressure.
Activity Taking Hive Price Higher
We see what @splinterlands is already doing to the amount of activity that is taking place. New accounts are occurring at a record pace and there is a lot of Hive being moved off exchanges. The need for Resource Credits is increasing. This is a glimpse into what might take place in the future.
People often mention what things will be like with a few Splinterlands on Hive. What happens when there are 4 or 5 applications that enjoy similar success as that game?
This is something that is bound to happen over time. It will not be overnight but with more games and applications appearing, we are seeing a massive push forward. This expands the offerings for each person who gets a Hive account, no matter which application brings them here.
How much activity it will take to get there is hard to say. However, if the SIP is sucking up a great deal of Hive off the open market, it is easy to see how a move similar to a "short squeeze" can take place. That is when things will get very interesting.
According to Coingecko, this is where a $50 price on Hive would place it. This is presuming around 400 million in distribution.
With a market cap of around $20 billion, this would place it #11. Of course, this is based upon where things stand now. It is likely that we will see much higher numbers in the future as the industry keeps growing. With roughly 225 million users globally, there is enormous upside in total. Just consider what the numbers of some of these projects will be when there are 1.5 billion users.
Does it seem outlandish at this point? Of course it does. The price action of Hive has been rather stalled. That said, gems do not remain hidden forever.
What happens once it is discovered is a frenzy takes place. Splinterlands, for all its success, still failed to kick that off. Nevertheless, it is a great starting point as well as giving us insight into the future.
We can see the excitement surrounding Ethereum as the token burns are taking place. Each day, people are posting the updates of the total amounts.
That said, the SIP is a better concept. Instead of burning money, it puts it to use. The return generated can be used to expand the network furthering the demand for the Hive.
Ultimately, it is not so outlandish to see the value of Hive move into the top 25. Down the road, this could be in the neighborhood of $20 billion or so.
Will we get there? Time will tell. However, there is a development foundation being put in place that can take us there.
It is nice to have fun with numbers once in a while. What are your thoughts?

While it is possible, that Hive could hit $10 or even $50. If that does happen it wouldn’t break the top 50, because other tokens will have moved up as well. There just aren’t enough things built on this platform to keep the attention of this instant gratification generation. I bet if there was a way to find the average age of people on this platform you’d be shocked at how high that number is.
Yes that is true, for now. But if there is a lot of new people joining like in @splinterlands who need RCs, that is going to suck up a lot of HP.

About 35-40. Most of hivers i know both in spanish and english are 35+ and have kids.
I'll take $10 per Hive anytime anywhere , $50 is like next level day dreaming :)
At this point, we will take $1 Hive. We have to start somewhere.
From there we can work our way up the scale.

from 10 to 50 only 5x :)
Amazon was the longest time worth nothing :) Today its worth a bazillion :P

Over the course of a decade or more, we can see a huge move from where we are now.

I love those thought experiments. It keeps you warm on cold, dark nights :o).
Hive is an incredible ecosystem of dapps and people and when some of the issues are solved (for example, that translations are frowned upon and bilingual people have to cram two languages in one post, which is at times unreadable), the onboarding of new people will explode.
I can see a 5 Dollar Hive in the next cycle. Maybe more. It'd be awesome.
$5 Hive doesnt seem too crazy, especially in light of the $50 that I just posted about. However, it could really happen. We simply need a few things to fill in.
Part of it is the smart contract platform that Blocktrades talked about.

I think the HIVE community has far better days ahead of us than we have seen behind us. I do think HIVE could easily be valued at $50 per coin if we were to make HIVE a big tech platform with a large percentage of the population using this platform. Can we ever get there? Only if this platform becomes easier to use and onboard people, once they get the hang of it they stay, but getting them started is a massive difficulty especially showing them how to get HBD or HIVE to FIAT, as that is what the crypto newbies care about, how much FIAT can I generate with crypto. This mindset also must be broken to reach $50 HIVE.
Agreed, smooth onboarding is key. I've been helping out to get a lot of photographers involved in the Hive community, and the biggest thing people struggle with is account creation, Hive/HP, HBD, RC and voting mana. Some find it confusing and overwhelming at first.
But once they do get it figured out they all seem to love it!
$50 $HIVE 🚀🚀🚀
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
How will you have SO much buy pressure to not only negate all the full time sell pressure from the salaries(rewards) of the people who post here daily, but also push the price up to $50?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I think that as more and more people get into crypto in general, and hive specifically for the utility it has, there will be a few more people coming in who have a longer view of things. This will just be by nature of things.
Just using myself as an example, I'm late-middle aged. I don't need to cash out hive earnings immediately. So, I can hodl. And that's my plan. Hodl until value built buys me out of having to work, then keep building value with my brain.
Right now lots of people can't hodl, but as more enter who can, that sell pressure may change, over time. So, as hive grows, it's relationship to the global market will change.
Look at total inflation. Hives are under 8% and dropping every block until it reaches sub 1%. A lot of high market cap coins have higher inflation than 10% and still sustain it. The reason being is its mostly just all hype atm, and centralized token distribution makes it much easier to have large VCs name drop. Look at Avax as an example, they sold OTC at a discount to VCs, the VCs were seen publicly buying it and talking about it, then the price rose. That had nothing to do with inflation or even tokenomics. Hype cycles fade and useful technology will remain, and then you have a whole new hype cycle all over again. It's always a series of boom and busts, with the market learning what is valuable each round.
When we get down to 1% inflation things will be better for price, but I’m telling you, every other coin is up significantly in price VS hive, this isn’t fud or shit talking, it’s just a fact that is very easily and casually verifiable. Hive has not made a new all time high in price since launch.
Look, I even powered up all my liquid hive and liquid Leo, I’m not giving up on this chain.
I feel, there is a small chance that everyone will just keep building and keep building and keep building and eventually, people will start to care enough to get involved, then, maybe like a coiled spring, we can explode upwards with long term perpetual demand significantly outpacing the sell pressure.

As was mentioned in another comments, the new users on Splinterlands need about 20 HP just to play the game. If there are near 10K people signing up, that is 200K Hive required per day. It will start to add up over time.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Getting 10k new people a day is the same sounding pitch as “if only we can capture 1% of the market”. But requiring 20hp to participate is for almost all hive based apps it not? I guess we can just keep building and building to onboard more and more users.
But ultimately you know what will help? Hive actually getting to $50. Look at your earnings today and do the math applying $50 per hive. I am certain many people will be selling less units (less hive) since they won’t be needing as much fiat everyday vs now at today’s prices.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
If it really touches that $50 level, I guess there going to be a bunch of people quitting their jobs 😁
That’s the goal :) Let the bots have the jobs LOL

I would pay off all my bank debts and other outstanding things. I would invest in my own business and still have money left over to breathe for a good time and calm
And detail. I don't even have that much hive today...

I would say that is almost for certain, perhaps long before that.

your reasoning is interesting ... HIVE has a good ecosystem and fully functional. If another 3 or 4 applications are as successful as Splinterlands HIVE it could be among the 30 most capitalized blockchains
Would be really awesome with hive it hitting such highs. With shitty project having exceeded far more expectations, I believe a solid project like hive will get to 50 USD one day. First we will need to hit 10 USD which I'll like to believe will happen in the next few years
The market is a strange animal. It really does what it wants.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yeah. Quite true.
It gets me excited just thinking about it. $50 Hive is hard to imagine right now but who knows, maybe it could have a moment like what Solana's been through recently. It deserves it
You never can tell with markets. They have a mind of their own.

Hive is so undervalued relative to the many useless projects that don’t create any income. But I would rather have a slow and steady rise then a volatile spike.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
The slow and steady is key. That is why depending upon development can only guarantee that. It is something that cannot be sped up.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I see a lot of objectivity because there are so many possibilities to what will take place on hive especially with attractive applications being built around it. To me it's not even about the money, I feel that when hive is attractive all around, people would ceaselessly adopt it. I believe hive will also be scarce in the future, the signs are there. The possibilities are endless.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Certainly not all about the money because we can put a price of freedoms.
However, on this day, thought it would be fun to let our minds wander a bit.
We will get back to our regularly scheduled posting tomorrow.

If we value Hive at Facebook proportions, we would have roughly $2000 Hive. I don't say that Hive is the next Facebook. It's just to illustrate the size of the social media market.
Although, Facebook has had the strategy of strapping on apps they acquire in much the same way developers are building dapps for Hive. Potentially, Hive and the dapps built upon it, as an aggregate, could reach FB levels.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
We will see. I don't see a comparison to Facebook at this time but it does not mean it is not being developed.
Either way, social media is being revamped and Hive could be in the middle of it. The economic aspect is really going to change things.

Well, Dogecoin reaching 1$ was a joke before few years. But it nearly did. SO, For HIVE with such great potential touching 50$ seems really logical and I agree with that projections.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yeah a joke at this point and a fun exercise. We will see where things stand in a couple of years.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I think 200$ hive are much possible and everyone that sells now will be sad later.
I bought my first hive for 5$. Why? because I was the opinion it is something big.
I think the same today. With more time hive becomes stronger and stronger.
And if someone thinks " who buy it?". Everyone needs or wants it. Rcs could be easily increased by demand. It is not like on eth it would need years of work.
We want it, we get it :) It could be a time 0,001 Hive is enough for transactions.
Time will tell.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yeah there are a few different things that can drive the price. We will have to see which ones emerge and start to force things to move.
Right now, it is just focus upon development.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
and it is the best we can do here. Build and stay not in focus :) But i have the opinion a lot of the big players already know hive and look close to it.
It's quite tricky to predict prices and I normally try to avoid it. However I had a look at the staking rate of hive during the last two months and this has gone up regularly. People think that 10'000 new Hive accounts only need RC to be created but this is not totally correct. These accounts need to be operational for the game. This means that around 20 Hive Power have to be delegated to these accounts. This means that every day with such a growth 200'000 additional hive power is needed!
That is true. The more that Splinterlands attracts new players, the greater the chance of more Hive being sucked up.
I never quantified it but you are likely correct. They will need about 20 HP just to play the game.

ok I agree for $50 . will make me super wealthy. and the authors i vote for will be able to make a nice income...
Hey @steempty, could you please diversify your autovotes to more people? With the rising price many of the ones you have on your list now are mainly looking to farm them without doing much else on Hive which forces us to do some downvote curation and causes a lot of unnecessary drama. Spreading them out to more deserving authors would definitely make it more fair and in turn distribute Hive better. If you need some recommendations I can create a list from the help of some curators and send it to you so you can decide which ones you like. Thanks for considering this.
@acidyo I think you are one of the authors in my autovote... :)
Ok i agree to do that. I will reduce my maximum vote% power for each author, and will add more authors.
I'll be happy for recommendations.
for one of the authors i support i will keep 100% vote. he usually posts maximum once a day. and sometimes not posting for a few and many days.
I'll be happy if none of my authors will get any downvotes... !
hopefully it will help us grow.
anyway there is not much farming possible by my authors because they can't get 100% votes if they post more than once a day.
and i disagree about a claim to justify some downvotes because of a reason 'just a photo can't be worth so much'. it can... and it probably worth more than it currently gets... if you take into account the price of the camera, the experience and skill of the photographer. and of course it depends on the photo and quality.
Hey! Thanks for replying, yes I'm aware I'm on your autovotes as well and while I appreciate it I try to send a lot of those rewards to others if you look at the beneficiary rewards on my post history.
It's fine if you want to support some with 100%, it's your stake, but at the same time I and many others feel that authors need to be doing more for the rewards they get. Justifying it by saying a picture is worth more than what it gets or that time went into something, equipment cost, etc, does not mean much when the content is posted on many platforms nor is anyone "buying" it on Hive. Like, we're not here sitting and waiting and pleading for content creators to please create another photo because we really need it, if you understand what I mean.
I'm sure you're aware that most of the content on Hive would not earn much rewards anywhere else, while it is nice what we can do and the amount of authors we can instantly monetize the content of, there are some that take it for granted and indeed "farm" it. I've investigated your autovotes for some time now and noticed how depending on how they work the authors have adapted to post to get the most out of them which is what I mean by maximizing the rewards. I'm also sure you know that autovotes make authors lazy, they become satisfied with the rewards they get and tend to themselves, only generating 1-2 posts per day, maybe responding to people in the comment section they often get because your votes are so big they place them in the Hot or Trending list, but don't attempt to socialize, build connections and in turn receive more unique voters and comments on their posts.
We need to move away from content creators who don't socialize on a social media platform because most of those who are here are not that big outside of Hive to "not have time" or "do other things that bring Hive value such as drive traffic to our front-ends". I'm not even going to bring up how most of them on your autovote list sell anything they earn because that's not a big issue but it's disappointing that they don't try to do more things on Hive considering how well it rewards them, it feels as if they don't appreciate it and make the most out of the connection they have with you while at the same time they take away rewards from others who may be trying harder to use Hive well without receiving enough rewards for their efforts.
Something we've been working on for some time now to actually bring some value to Hive content which content creators can participate in is @poshtoken where if you share your hive links onto Twitter you can earn tokens and curation from us for possibly bringing new traffic and users to Hive. It may not be much but it might bring a few new people to Hive and in turn the content they create and share could get some outsiders interested in wanting to follow that user to read more of what they post about. Since you're here and I don't really know how to contact you anymore off-chain, I wanted to check if you'd consider voting for our witness @ocd-witness due to all the different things we do on Hive aside from block production.
I'll have a few curators generate a list of good authors who also are very active on Hive in other ways (such as onboarding through our onboarding initiative) and send it to you shortly. Hope you've been well throughout these times.
btw where do you guys chat these days ?
I can't access https://openhive.chat

I do not know if it is possible but when I met Bitcoin it was worth $ 200 and now $ 50,000.
In your article you give enough reasons why it could happen and even be surpassed.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yeah if you asked people in 2013 about $50K Bitcoin most would have laughed. Now it is a reality.
For Hive, the development is crucial.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Hive $ 50 I do not think it is absolutely fantasy, Bitcoin was worth a few dollars a few years ago, so everything is feasible.
A lot of things depend on developers, others on future events on the blockchain. If or the growth of cryptocurrencies and Hive continues as in recent years, 50 dollars can be reached.
5 years, 10 years ... it doesn't matter. Meanwhile, I am confident that Hive will be able to hit 2/3 dollars by the end of the year, bull market permitting...
$2-$3 by the end of the year will be a nice move. The bull market with the continued expansion of new users could make that a relity.

Definitely got my morning off to a great start. What a wild ride that would be. It is very possible, but how likely? That's the real question.

I hate speculating over price and have always said a $5 Hive has to come first and the rest will follow. This is not crazy thinking as by then the market cap will not be 11th as you suggest, but possibly only a top 50 token. Hive is unlike others as it does not have a CEO or anything like that and why it will catch the eye of everyone at some point. Jack Dorsey is an delusional fool who is only thinking of himself.

Decentralized, uncensorable, fast and basically free transactions, paying "interest" just to hold it, at the center of the podcast world (PodPing), video world (3Speak), long-form blogging world (Hive, Leo, etc...), short-form blogging world (ProjectBlank), and making developing and utilizing this blockchain easier and more dev-friendly than any other blockchain out there (HAF).
I feel like we're juuuussst starting to see the beginnings of what is going to become a very big, very sustained run. With all the HIVE coming off the exchanges right now and the arbitraging of HBD to make it viable as a stablecoin, it really feels like the financial energy beneath the surface is building and building. In my mind, it's no longer if, it's when. Sometime in the next 5 years this place is going to explode. It could literally happen by the end of the year or it could take another full cycle but....it's coming.

The growth of HIVE after the separation has been impressive, to the point that it has left the old one almost obsolete, the interaction and the amount of applications available on the platform including hive-engine is overwhelming, sometimes I get tired of exploring through the entire ecosystem and there is always something new to discover, that makes it interesting, and of course with greater possibilities for users of all tastes.
En este mundo de activos digitales, soy una principiante muy principiante que poco a poco intenta mezclar en su vida estas nuevas dinámicas, HIVE puede que ahorita no tenga un gran valor, pero los mercados son demasiados locos y todo puede que cambie.

For now I focus my energies and hopes that at least in a couple of months it will reach 5$, it would be a magical gift for the end of the year, it may be exaggerated but it is a nice day to dream.
A big hug, I liked this publication, it activated our creativity to the maximum.
Greetings, blessings and success.

Agree. And we can all contribute to showing the world this gem called HIVE. It will be a long road to $50 but I believe it will get there eventually. The time it takes to get there will be the trump card because there are many other coins on the way up. I will be happy when it reaches $10 in 1 to 3 years. The earlier, the better. :)
Very interesting considerations. Without a doubt, the future of Hive is promising, and best of all is that we, the people who believe in Hive, are pioneers of all that great progress to come. Very good post.

Agreed, $55 is just 100x from here

I think it will be a rocky road to $50 per token. There are alot of big hodlrs and anything above $5 starts being big bucks.
There is alot of liquid Hive on the market so I think for Hive $50 it will take some time. But like you pointed out all we need to do is add use cases. The more that can build on it, the more the token is needed creating buy pressure.
So this is an interesting discussion. I'm in though and continue to buy and stake.
I have a feeling there will be a dip in September but the market is definitely staying strong.

You know what thrills me? Splinterlands hasn't even reached its full potential yet (I know this even though I don't play). The thought of having Multiple side projects that moons is one that has me trying to be consistent with growing my account these days. The sky's the limit
I'm more looking towards the milestone of making a place in top 100 and stay there for a while, Because that's they key. If you make your place there a lot of eyes start checking things out and if the tech is strong it ultimately moves upward. If within 1 year hive take a slot in top 100, I wouldn't be surprised but proud. We gotta defend are achievement before jumping to high and then fall back. Slow and steady wins the race.
There you go again with those crazy bullish scenarios, but I’ll play along! I no longer think it’s such a stretch. I just hope regulation doesn’t force many of us to relocate to other countries, as that could be a pain in the ass! I might do it though, I mean, fuck, if I can full time Hive...
Are there any dapps you think are one the way to pulling a splinterlands besides leo and 3speak or maybe peakd and excency? I guess I just named a few lol but any more?
I will quit my job and and i just wish this kind
of dream come to pass because it means everything to somebody like me
5 $ hive I can imagine very well, 50 $ however only if there is a supercycle. To get into the top 25 is a big goal, but why not good things take time
Me hoping for $5 hive
So were off to $50 then, better buy quick then :)

Hive will still know by many people because I know many people don't know about Hive. Before people will know about Hive,it may be one of the acceptable currency in the world like BTC because as BTC is increasing Hive is also doing the same.

I remember your $100 Steem & getting users to 1000SP claims of the old. Aren't you being too conservative here. Hive is a legit competitor to ETH in many ways. Sure we don't have smart contracts. But we make up for it in may other ways.
Maybe we'd even be able to eventually adopt stuff from EOS. I'm not sure about the tech side. But we share a consensus algorithm and a creator with EOS. So it's probably not impossible to pull off :)
