I couldn't agree more and it's already changing things just as you mentioned. The centralized production companies will continue to feel the pinch more and more as projects are produced without needing their "blessing". AI will eventually be helping not only in writing but producing special effects at a much reduced cost. It's the future of entertainment, and those big studios should be very concerned.

There is so much wrong with the centralized production companies, i.e. Hollywood, that it is impossible for it to be drastically downsized.
California's high taxes have already started to destroy Hollywood. I've had family involved in the business for years and they all detest having to work with the big production companies. That's why I see things shaping up very differently in the coming years!
That certainly doesnt help. Of course, the fact they lost the monopoly on the distribution channel is of great concern also.
This is where the Internet started to crush the production companies.
