An awesome initiative. It will definitely increase the community engagement as more comments and replies start flowing in.
Also the randomization process seems pretty nice.

I think it makes things extremely fair, but it was a bit time consuming so I might have to come up with something else instead. It depends on the amount of participants each time. It's fine to do it with 10 or 20 participants, but 30+ would probably become a bit too time consuming. We'll see how it goes. :)
