Ha, ha, ha. I see. Well, one does what one can.

Bone is an interesting material. Tougher than wood. I always save the round we get from cows after making soup. I should be making nuts and saddles for instruments with them, but I haven't started with it since it's not that easy.

Gonna try a beach walk to see what things I can find.

Pointless fact Did you know the Venezuelan Ambassador in Canada is from my hometown? He was a terrible Governor and they gave him that Embassy as prize. Don't ask me why because we still don't get it.

For bone, don't boil it, that makes it brittle and unsuitable for carving. It is tougher than wood but not as tough as antler, ivory, and horn.

Well, these bones were cooked and are still tough as nails. I have to dig on them to see if they break.

You could make the nuts and saddles. You'll want the shank bone from a cow, that's the best for carving material, due to thickness and strength. To clean bone, you can either bury it and let the maggots clean it. That takes too long though, so I use two percent hydrogen peroxide and soak it in that. Depending on what you start with, it make take a few soakings and you'll need to let it sit one to two weeks, or longer, until it's at the state you want it to be at. Clean as much tissue and so forth off the bone before you do this process. That will make it faster and easier.

Oh, nice insight. I can go with option three and give it to my aunt's dog until it's wiped clean? Or is it too dangerous?

Beach cleans everything so nicely and there's always things to find. Even along lakes and rivers I've found things.

Yeah, he was a piece of work. During his last year in office, we had the worst time with people sacking stuff and a lot of unrest.

Tooth marks, dried dog drool...yum. Seriously though, you need to get all the tissue and fat out of the bone to prep it. The dog will not do that.
Definitely check out the beach.

I got these clean thanks to ants. There's lots around. I just let them dry on a wall and they did a pretty good job taking out the tissue. I was also glad they got some food for the colony.

Hey, it works and it's way faster than maggots. It's cheaper than ammonia and water and I can have soup and then give back to nature. It's a big win!
