Fond memories of the little girl I was

in Weekend Experiences3 years ago (edited)

Hello, Hivers and awesome people of THE WEEKEND community.

Last week I got caught up in the Christmas activities of the first half of December and couldn't join the Weekend Engagementmy childhood memories. that every week hosts @galenkp, so just the same thing doesn't happen to me this week; here I go with my post just started over the weekend. So let me share with you some of

Yep, this serious girl was me. My childhood memories are fond. I had the best dad anyone could have, and my mom is the best. I enjoyed my childhood surrounded by a great family because even though I only have one sister, our cousins were always very close to us. I was always a precocious child, and although I had a happy childhood, I have always been very serious as I appear in the picture and with a slight frown on my face.

I don't remember particularly liking to play with dolls, although I remember having several. But I remember that one of the things my sister and I enjoyed most was playing at being singers.

My sister and I loved to dress up and pretend we were famous singers. Sometimes we would even perform for an audience, my parents, my aunt, and grandmother, and of course, we would charge admission. We wore wigs from costumes my mother had. I was a blonde girl with curly hair and, of course, my favorite wig had straight black hair. We had some microphones to play with. And our favorite record back then as we played at being singers was ABBA's Chiquitita. And Mamma Mia, I think that's why I know most of the ABBA songs to this day. And I can say that my sister and I were two dancing queens.

But not all memories are too happy. Perhaps one of the bittersweet memories I have from childhood was my first and last pet as a child. I must say that I was not a child who was very desperate to have a pet; however, I loved my cousins' dogs. But I didn't like them climbing on me to get me dirty and leave their scent on me; maybe that's why I like cats better now. And I remember once my uncle, who was a vet, took me with him to a cattle fair, I was little, and I went all over the fair with him with my hand holding my nose so I wouldn't smell the cow dung. But back to the subject of the pet.

We lived in an apartment, and my mother never agreed to have a pet. After my sister and I begged for a good time, more my sister than I, I should say to be fair. One day, my parents bought us a little water turtle, which we called Por Fin (Finally). Yes, finally, we had a pet! But sorry, the story didn't end well.

We used to put Finally's turtle tank on a piece of furniture attached to the kitchen window. One morning, a few days after we got him. We couldn't find it anywhere. It probably got its way out of its tank and must have fallen out the window. My sister and I were heartbroken for several days and never had a pet again since our mother refused to buy another one.

However, apart from the Por Fin incident which I remember as a bit painful, my childhood was very happy and I could spend hours telling funny anecdotes. But we'll leave them for another time.

Thank you, Galen, for this week's theme, which triggers so many fond memories.

If you made it this far, thank you very much for reading.

So cute Eli, and you have not changed at all :)

You are so sweet, Ed. hehe, At least, the frown is still there. 😂

You can join the weekend engagement; I remember your funny anecdote when the queen visited your school, which you told in Read. It's a cool one to share in this week's topic. And here I am again being bossy, lol. And you will say, I'm telling you what to do. I haven't changed in that either; I was bossy when I was little too. 🤣🤣

It was funny, when I saw the first picture, I thought to myself, what a little bossyboots she was and still is now haha.
I just entered a post with a different memory, although the school is still in it! Yep, no sugar for me, I am sweet enough!

OMG, so you thought when you saw the picture how bossyboots I seemed to be. 🤣🤣 I'll have to think twice about what I tell you from now on.

By the way, I loved your post.💙

I understand how it hurt you and your sister to have lost your Por Fin. But I guess you had other best memories with your family. Thank you for sharing ma! Besides, you look so beautiful when you were little.

Thank you so much, princess. ♡ And yes I had very beautiful memories of my childhood.

Oh that poor turtle! I used to work as a cleaner for old people in homes and there was a couple there that had a turtle that they smuggled from Israel in the 70s haha

Oh the turtle of that couple was really old, hehe

Terrific post. Por Fin is right up there with the greatest pet names I've ever heard. I had a Springer Spaniel named Fatty after one of the Hobbits, but Por Fin is miles ahead of that.

I grew up on a farm and so never knew a time without animals. Dogs. I have one yet :)

And I see death differently than most. I'm to an age where I must consider mine and I find my attitude towards it hasn't changed much. Those pets and relatives dying all contribute to that, I'm sure.

Thank you:) Por Fin is indeed a great pet name, hehe. My sister and I can't help but laugh whenever we remember it.

As for death is something I've had to face since I was little, I've lost many beloved family members, but I don't really like the idea of thinking about my own death.

Ha, hello, famous singer, can you do one of ABBA's song for me? 😊. I love this part of your childhood very much. I am sorry about Por Fin, it could mean you guys were never meant to have pet, so nature took it's course. Sorry that the feeling and joy of having a pet was short-lived for you and your sister.

Haha, anytime, I still remember all the songs, lol And yes, we may not have been destined to have a pet, but my sister always desperately wanted one.

we may not have been destined to have a pet, but my sister always desperately wanted one.

And I am very sorry that she couldn't get one to keep. I hope that she has gotten one now (I am thinking she is all grown up by now)

Yes, she is grown up and has two kids now. But for now, she doesn't have a pet.

Oh wow. It's amazing how life takes a different turn when we grow up. It's okay. Please, say me well to her and her kids 🥰

Thank you so much, I will tell her. 😊

Ah, your childhood sounds fun. Por Fin is a hilarious name for a turtle! Poor little fella.

You look like a mini Abba band member yourself with that blond hair!

Thank you for your kind comment. And the name Por Fin was the coolest thing about having that pet, hehe.

Hahahah so you and your sister, both were singers in childhood. I am sad to hear about the pet which was not found in the tank,it must be hurtful for you.
Finally I found you here, how are you dear?

I'm fine and yes, we were lol. Nice to see you are here:)
