we may not have been destined to have a pet, but my sister always desperately wanted one.
And I am very sorry that she couldn't get one to keep. I hope that she has gotten one now (I am thinking she is all grown up by now)

Yes, she is grown up and has two kids now. But for now, she doesn't have a pet.
