I've been waiting for this for months now, the day the bonkers arrives and it's almost here.
"big uncle hug" he's promised me the moment he emerges from the aerobridge at the arrivals gate. Yep, I'm looking forward to it greatly and to spending time with him over the days he's down here to visit.I'm talking about the arrival of my nephew @mrbnkers which is happening very soon and I'll be collecting that
This weekend I'm preparing one of my houses for my brother, his wife and the little bonkers to stay in and I'll give them one of my cars so they're mobile as well; we'll spend pretty much the whole time together of course, and there's only a couple kilometres between where I live and where the other house is so our days will start with breakfast together at my place and will go from there.
We've got a lot planned but will also have time to just hang around together chatting, building Lego, and stuff like that as well. Of course, I've got some pretty legit BBQ's planned, trips to the beach, taking him shooting and letting him drive my truck (no, six and a half isn't too early for these things), a couple meals out and he'll also be here for a special annual occasion which we'll celebrate together too. It's going to be so great.
This trip was booked months ago and since then my brother has bought a house which only settled a week or so ago so they've been busy moving things to their new place, a sprawling property on over 20,000m² of land surrounded by rain forest so I know they'll want to rest up a bit which gives me the chance to take the lead and spend time with my nephew while his mum and dad take it easy.
Anyway, it'll all kick off soon but right now I have to get back to arranging that house for them, getting everything in place and making sure they'll be comfortable and catered for. Before I go though, here's some tracks I've listened to recently for the #saturdayselections concept. Like them or not - that's you're choice I suppose - but I certainly do.

Woohoo! I can sense your excitement and I would bet MrBonkers is feeling the same. It's such a great time when family gets together after an extended time apart. Sounds like you have a full itinerary already. Are you going to squeeze in some Dukes, too? I recall you saying MrBonkers likes to watch that show.
Your brother and his wife are looking forward to a relaxing time as well after the obstacle course of home buying, I imagine. Their new place sounds great and will be good for MrBonkers to practice his bushcraft skills that you'll teach him. Fun times ahead!
My brother and sister in law are pretty tired out so will be mostly relaxing but that gives me more time with my nephew. We'll spend the time together of course but it's all going to be quite casual and relaxed.
I think today we're going to be watching the "Duke Boys" after my nephew and I go on a "secret mission" to the mall to buy Lego.
He's a really good kid and I'm very proud of him. Not having kads myself makes it more special to have this little kid around who idolises me. We are similar in character (I was just like him as a kid as were most of my brothers) so I see so much of myself in him... mischievous little bugger, but good at heart, caring, humourous etc.
Oh ho...A secret mission! That's all very hush-hush and spy-like. Right up a young boy's alley.
Yep, the mission went well, no problems at all and the Lego was purchased. He's pretty pleased...and has bugged me since to start building it with him. One of tomorrow's activities.
Outstanding, I can imagine, his enthusiasm probably has an iron fisted grip on him 😂.

Lolled at, *the bird is in the nest! It was something like that. He's such a funny kid, his mannerisms aslnd all, it's difficult not to get swept up in the enthusiasm. He's a good nephew.

It's been a good day, I've missed him so much and he's also grown so much. I'm looking forward to more fun over his visit with a lot planned and some unplanned down time to just hang out. It's going to be great.

Prime Circle are from South Africa, pretty good band. Had a lead singer chance a little while ago...still good though.

Yep, a long time indeed but today it felt like our relationships just picked up where we left it. He's a great kid, idolises me, and we always have a great time. My goal is to give him memories he'll remember for ever like I have with my grandfather. It's also good to see my brother and sister in-law as we all get along really well. It's been a good day with more of the same to come.
I have only been a child once and I also have great memories of my paternal grandfather. I'm sure your nephew will remember these moments shared with you as very special. Little more I can tell you... Enjoy these days very much.

Because I'm bonkers and he's my nephew so he's Mr. Bonkers and I'm uncle Bonkers. Just a nickname I have for him which he loves.

I miss that little kid so much, my only nephew, and he's a very cool kid. With no children of my own my nephew and niece are very huge parts of my life.
