Hello amazing Hivers!
The topics this weekend are really interesting and being one who breathes, loves and talks about nature, I wouldn't miss this for the world :)
And for this write-up, I chose to answer the third option:
If you could transport yourself to any natural environment outside of your own country for a two week vacation where would it be and why. Who would you take with you and what would you do there.
I choose Guilin in Guangxi Province, China without any second thoughts and let me share a brief story why...
While I was working in Guangzhou, one of my office mates invited me and the farmboy on a trip to Guilin (Guangxi Province) during a long holiday. Unfortunately, the husband and I have already booked our trip to Hong Kong and because we had important stuff to do, we thought we could plan for another time to go to Guilin. But then we became so busy with work and we were unable to visit the place before we came back home.
Some time in 2018, the same friend informed us that they were planning for a week-long trip with one of our co-workers back then. But after some time, they changed their minds and went to Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia instead. So yes, Guilin was set aside once again but it had since become one of the farmboy and mine's dream destination.
Why Guilin?
After watching a travel channel some years back and learning of the natural environments of Guilin, we were drawn to its beauty that consisted of the breathtaking karst landscapes (hills and mountains) and caves, the picturesque rice terraces, it's serene rivers and the beautiful place as a whole. We were literally gasping in awe with what we watched.
Who will I take there with me?
Obviously, it will be the farmboy. We both dream to be there one day. And hopefully we will be able to check it off our list sooner than later.
What would we be doing there?
With a beautiful place like Guilin, there is so much to see and do. And I believe two weeks would be quite a short time to spend in a place like this. A month might be better and we would like to live as locals, not tourists. We want to experience life there in general while enjoying its magnificence.
So first, we will spend some days bamboo rafting through its green lakes and around its rivers while enjoying the views of the surroundings. We have never experienced riding on a raft, let alone one made of bamboo so it will definitely be an exciting adventure for us. We might even have picnics by the banks :)
We will then go to the caves and marvel at the colorful and beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. We'll probably spend days going back and forth to each of them. We may never be able to fathom how these marvelous creations have come abound, but we appreciate them with all our hearts.
Reed Flute Cave and Crown Cave are said to be two of the most known caves in the area and we will surely enjoy them.
Isn't this heaven on earth?
Just look at those fascinating stones and the crystal clear waters too! I might even cry when I will be there. I have shallow tears and immense joy makes me tear up.
I am very sure even when we spend days here, we will never get bored. This will be a perfect spot for meditation, don't you think?
Of course, we wouldn't miss their rice terraces too. These sure are a sight to behold. And if given the chance, we will also join some field works.
We will also go for a hike up the hills to watch the sunrise...
Or witness the mists covering the top of the karsts...
And how about fishing while on a raft? Yes, we will definitely have that experience too. These fishermen must be having the best times of their lives, relaxing and basking in their natural environment and we would like to have that experiences too.
How nice it would really be when we will finally be able to set foot in the majesticGuilin and live amongst them for a while.
Thank you @galenkp for this weekend's prompts that made me wander elsewhere and indulge my mind's eye some moments in Guilin's nature which I may call a "Paradise on Earth."
Glad to find your post here. I came via dot-cash platforms.
Oh, hi :) Glad you came aboard :) You may want to do an introduction post :)
I've never heard of that place, sis. And it seems like a place worth visiting. I hope you can visit it soon.
We hope so too sis. According to my friend, it is a beautiful place and recommended to visit during the off-peak season to avoid crowds.
