RE: Weekend-engagement week 18: Your music groove

in Weekend Experiences4 years ago

Hi. Happy Saturday for everybody.
It looks like I am the youngest here so, my musical taste may not be of your liking, but here it goes.
Although I also like music by singers of previous generations, most of my favorite artists are young. One of them is Shawn Mendes. This song, Wonder, is from his 4th album.

I have followed him since he was just a youtuber making covers. I think he is a great case of hardwork and talent making his way through so many good singers.

This is the first time he dances in a video. He had been critized for being just a guitar player. I think he has a unique voice that you can recognize among many.
I learned one of his first songs, Life of the Party. I was so obssessed with his songs that I printed once a lot of songs at one of my aunt's printers. She could have killed me. Printing was too expensive already in Venezuela.

I admire his growth, from learning the guitar on Youtube and make only covers to produce his first single, his first album, tour the world, make wonderful videos. I mean, he is known now worldwide (at least by my generation).
Señorita and Speeches are other two great songs.

He has been featured in some tv series and he has so far lived a pretty decent life. No scandals, no legal problems, no feuds with other celebrities (that I know of).

I love this song (Wonder). I feel like singing and dancing. He is a Harry Potter fan and you can see what he did at the beginning of the video.

I've not heard of Shawn Mendez, or maybe I have heard a song or two but not his name...Who knows? It's quote a nice song and I can see why you like it. He's made four albums so he must have a lot of fans I guess right? An interesting story about how he started on YouTube too.

Thanks for sharing this track and for playing along with the #weekend-engagement topic this week.

Yes. He is very popular now. Hopefully he will not mess that up.
Thanks for the opportunity to share his music and the support. It's been fun

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

A very cool song, I am one of those older people, but good music transcends generations or even political boundaries. it was nice to read about his start and rise from you. very good selection.

I was hoping for a few things when I saw the topic for the weekend, one was music from different languages, and new music from people I have never heard of before, I have gotten that an so much more from the people sharing on this post, so thank you.

Great. That's the idea. I know it may be easier for young people like me to like some old music, but it is nice when older people find the new singers worth listening to. I know too that some new artist are messing up with people's patience and concepts of what is good music.

First time hearing Shawn Mendez. I like it! I'm always interested in hearing music 'out of my generation' (think grandfather or great grandfather for you).

I love the story of being self made and the video was very slick.

Thanks for introducing me to a new talent!

You are welcome. Glad you liked it.
"slick" new word for me. Is that a word granpas would use? menaing "cool"?
😗

Ahahahahaha. Why would you ask me about grandpa words?

Slick in this case would 'well put together and thought out'. I think it comes from an old printing term 'slick stock' which would be for magazine covers.

My wife listens to a station that plays his music and my niece is "in Love" with him, so I know of his music. I am really liking this particular song. Lots of instrumentation involved. He has a smooth voice, so no wonder he is loved by the young generation. Wow.. 4 albums already??!! wow.
