“In a time of deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act”
- George Orwell -
One of the Yoga base principle is honesty. Being honest may be harsh some times but it usually leads to the Greater Good, that in this case it can be represented by preserving the healthy working environment of the company. In other occasions, it can be removing people from groups to avoid that the rotten apple may contaminate the others.

Working in a company, for me, does not simply mean warming up the chair and bringing the salary in my pockets. Working in a company is receiving trust from the Employer that is paying me for doing job and he/she is the one taking entrepreneurial risks so I would pay much respect to him.
Seeing a colleague stealing money from the company I am working into, cannot make me leave it with no consequences or highlighting it to the Employer or my eventual Supervisor.

May this lead to some friction with my colleague? SURE
May this put me in a good light at my Employer Boss? Well, Yes, for sure.
But how other colleagues would see me? As a spy?
Or would be thanked as I have pointed out a scammer?
BUT, I would be also seen from many other colleague as a spy, that has pointed out the fraud BUT also someone that had no hesitations on reporting things to the bosses. They eventually think for a while that I acted in good faith for the greater good.
BUT, are they committed to the Company like I am? Are they really grateful for the employment opportunity like I am?
Probably not. On average, almost 50% of the employees is not satisfied of its working place, of its boss, of its colleague, of its workload on so on.
So can I really expect that these kind of profiles are going to get the reason why I did it or they simply going to be afraid that I may become a spy for them as well?

Well, that’s possible. Or probable?
Anyway, an interesting personality, said that:
It’s better to be alone than to be in bad company

That in our case, this quote inspires me to think that to reach a greater good, there may be some bumpy periods, some tight curves and some hidden obstacles. But in the end, I will be able to watch myself in the mirror, being aware that I acted not for selfish purposes BUT for the greater good, meaning:
-Keeping the working environment free from rats
-Making the company saving money
-Keeping the rest of the colleagues safe in the case the boss found out that some money was missing, but then it was too late for me to prove me who was the real guilty
-Giving the other colleagues a message that I am reliable with whom plays accordingly
I would love to hear your thoughts and what may set you back from busting the cheater!
Interesting post which raises several dilemmas.
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, this is actually a big dilemma on how to behave in such situation. The ethical way is just one, but many consequences may occur
I see you love honesty and truth. Well on this path, many times you have to bear hardships whilst others reap rewards, although that's only a short term gain, in the long run you win. A better probable option is having a team, that has similar opinions such as yourself. That way you'll be able to handle the game of choice in a better way. (2/2)Dear @mikezillo, you just got hugged. on behalf of @weone.
You got the point: allowing a temporary set-back for a long term win.
Behaving in that way, facilitates also the creation of a Team of like-minded people since we attract who we are similar to.
Seeing others stealing from a company you work in is really frustrating because at that moment, you will realize they aren't serious and wanting the growth of the company and for you who understands the company and are appreciative to your boss, it's important to fish out the culprit before it's too late.
Though it's normal seeing some people not liking you for what you did, that doesn't matter as long as you have saved the company's face from going down.
Totally agree with you. Besides, allowing such actions to take place with no consequences would increase a vibe of dishonesty in the group that would likely stimulate similar situations

Thanks for sharing such a delicate topic.
This is the best steps an honest person would take, not only for the benefit of the company/employer but for consciousness sake.
However, in my own setting it might be very risky to take such steps. If the colleague has a toxic criminal attitude, your life might be at stake, neither the employer nor the authorities (police) can guarantee your safety should you run into troubles afterward.
Several assassination cases have been linked to this in the past. In such situation I'll really tread with caution while making sure that my report is backed by solid evidence. Depending on the amount or monetary value involved, I'll request for an oligatory withness protection measures from a legal entity.

Yes, I see your point!
Anyway, there are several ways to act in good faith without risking too much. If the thing escalate so much, it can be good to provide some anonymous recordings or equivalent to to setup the cheater. AND, if the thing escalate so much, it's likely that the events are repeating, so there may be later chance to grab proves or frame the guilty.
In general, I think people are not so violent, but your point is good!
Yeah, you are also on point, but I was referring to my own setting. Humans are unpredictable so it is very hard to know the type of fellow you're or would be dealing with. Being extra careful might be the best.
Yes, I would be curious now on knowing where you work (😅) but you are right. Being extra careful would be advisable
