RE: It wasn't meant to happen

Just getting into practice....

But I have some stores that have really good prices, and I take full advantage. For about $45, I have at least 55 quarts of canned chicken in storage. I canned up a bunch of fresh green beans, but I haven't counted those.

The dollar (and a quarter) tree sells frozen vegetables that are good quality. I get them, thaw them, and dehydrate them; then vacuum pack them in canning jars. I can put 6 to 8 pounds of vegetables in one jar, that will last twenty years!

A lot of the low cost prepping comes disguised as work; so a lot of people just miss it, LOL!

if people did a fraction of what you did (we did) they'd be mitigating a whole set of (bad) circumstances that cold occur. Eve if it's just inflation and its effects.

Offsetting inflation is enough reason to prep, but it will also work in dark times too! I'm doubling my efforts to get all my SHTF supplies out to the homestead ASAP.

There are significant staged supplies here in storage, and I've been concentrating on adding storable food. These other supplies are equally important to move, but I'm rapidly running out of storage space on the homestead! I will need another container there, and an external fuel storage shed. Better get busy here!

It's really funny to read that above, and also know that there's a whole bunch of people that don't even have a week's worth of supplies at home, no water, no first aid kit (or ability to use one), no fire evacuation plan, no plan around home invasion, no seat belt cutter and window breaker in their vehicle and so on. Bonkers really.

So many so unprepared...even for basic stuff! At least they are happy facing destruction. My Bible tells me to flee to the country!

So, I've been prepping for a long time, even before I bought the homestead. This is a brick house, and I even considered bugging in.

But moving to a safer location just makes more sense, and will save me ammunition when the 'zombies' arrive....

Besides, it's beautiful out there! Out there, I can build a fire in my front yard, without the fire department showing up. I can build what I need, and never need a permit.
