RE: Weekend-engagement week 18: Your music groove

Galen perfect WE topic prompt and a cool tribute to EVH too man. I decided to click play on JUMP whilst typing this comment to get me in just the right vibe and I gotta tell you the opening strains of that rock classic have never aged, not one iota! It's one of those tracks that takes you back there instantly.

I can concur with you Brother, I looked funny too, but in the best possible way when I think back to the 80's... I regret none of it!!!

Dreams too, which has that racing along the highway top down on a hot summer day vibe, Listening to these top tunes gives me that unmistakable feeling down the spine, I can't explain it BUT if ya know it, ya know it, I'm fairly certain you will.

My first job was in the department that sold the music in a big chain in the UK (WH.Smith) I spent all of my wages on a treasure trove of tracks both vinyl and those swish new audio cassettes too, (I presume you've heard about them, they're the latest thing haha) Music quite literally was my life then and plays a pretty massive part now. Sometimes people tell me they are more in to movies and not really in to music I just don't get it!!!

I'm sure you know that I was about to choose something with a lil comedy value (I'm such a bloody cliche!) but your choice made me quite nostalgic and prodded my emotions so now I'm torn... Just one thing for it...

I LOVE Professor Elemental & I'm British is awesomely bloody fantastic and hugely funny. This track always cheers me up if I need a good laugh.

HOWEVER... My lifelong guilty pleasure, musicwise is Rick Astley, cheesy though it may sound. Most people only know him for Never gonna give you up and Rickrolling so I felt it my duty to give the big guy a little exposure here. M'Lady and I have seen him live several times and missed out twice due to Covid pushing the dates back twice already this year. I like him so much because he always had an impeccable, soulful voice and was always a little embarrassed by the whole fame thing and is still humble, warm and friendly today. I like that a lot!

His voice is still damn amazing too!

This track 'TRY' really helped me through a tricky spell a while back, strange though it may sound so it is my choice for one of his to share here.

So sorry about the mega comment again Galen! I'm an annoying bloody pom, I know it! One lyric in I'm British that resonated with me was "I use ten words when two would do honestly"

Great WE idea my friend, have an awesome bit in-between weekends mate :)

Sort:

Only a brit could come up with that first one mate, but it's the British humour that many around the world love, it's unique. Good choice.

Rick Astley...Gawd, I remember him dancing in that video of never gonna give you up...Classic 80's. I had a look at this one you dropped here, a listen too. The chap has a good voice for sure and let's face it, the 80's weren't kind to any of us. Is it just me, but does he look a lot like Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit though?

Nice work Steven, thanks for dropping by!

OMG Bilbo Astley, how did I not notice this before?

No, thank you Galen, the WE initiative is a joy I have missed immensely, especially the peoplezzz I look forward to seeing each week for a nonsensical laugh and guaranteed I always meet one or two new users who are well worth a follow, you never know where the next cool friend is gonna come from on the blockchain.

Haha, Bilbo Astley 🤣

Good to have you back mate.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Do you think many people that listened to the first song got the Chim Chim cheree reference?

I never heard of Rick Astley, but pretty good. I wonder what the tight rope walking scene was about in the video, I mean it was cool, I guess to show if we try we can do anything.

nice selections.

My friend I love it when people ask the really BIG questions that demonstrate beautifully that I am not the 'only one'. These are the kind of things that keep me up at night!!!

Good to see you ShadowDude, I hope you and yours are doing fabulously well and that your weekend has been great but not as great as the week to follow. :)

It was a fun couple of comment surf days Friday and Saturday, I will finish the post up with one more comment surf this evening to close the musical rally weekend out.

I have missed the WE a lot over the past month, it was the one staple activity of the week that I never used to miss and it always provides a few laughs along the way.

Oh, God. Professor Elemental is GREAT. That's too much fun.

Rick Astley isn't on my playlist, but I have to tell you that I have more than a few that would seem weird in this imposing list. Songs (and artists) I like simply because I like them, not for any other apparent reason.

Sorta like a toasted cheese sandwich on a fall afternoon. Just the right thing.
