The weekend is here and since the spring weather is in effect (it is +8c), we headed to the opening of a little marketplace in the city that has a couple of craft stores and some pony rides for the kids. While my wife and daughter liked looking, I am generally appreciative of minimalistic design...
This place was my nightmare.
Each shop was chockablock full of dust gatherers, the crap that people buy from places such as these, put on shelves and are forced to dust around weekly until the day they die, at which point their kids inherit it all and throw it straight into a box destined for a charity bin.
This rabbit knows it - it is holding that dust-catching tray out with a look of contempt saying,
"Dust my useless ass, loser".
There were quite a few people milling about, and because the shops are so small, we needed to line to get into some of them - especially the last one - the chocolate shop - the only redeeming quality place out of the set, as while it was full of little pieces of nonsense too at least it could be eaten away before the dust gathers on it.
Unfortunately for me though, I am trying to watch my weight a little, so I didn't go buckwild buying gourmet chocolates and candies - but I did get some nougat thing that looks like a cigar. I don't really like nougat, so perhaps it will last longer than two breaths.
These chocolate bars above however looed pretty great, as they are handmade with freeze-dried fruits or nuts and all kinds of things - however, at 10€ a block, they aren't cheap. My wife and daughter can't eat these due to the dairy in them, so we didn't even get one to try.
There was a lot of craft stuff, including soaps and cards, a million candles, ugly doorknobs, glittered rabbits and chalk paints to make your own tacky craftwares. In some places, I felt like I had been caught up in the aftermath of a drunken pixie and fairy gangbang party, ending in a glittery bukkake finale.
When even my daughter got bored of shiny stuff to look at, you know there was a lot. However, what she was looking forward to was getting a tattoo (every father's dream for their daughter), and she chose a Hello Kitty one for her forearm. I was actually surprised she was able to sit still for the three minutes it took for the stencil to have glue applied and then glitter brushed on with a brush that had a mermaid tail. There must be a kit you can buy from China to set up for this kind of stall and at 5 dollars a pop, they probably make pretty good scratch doing this through the spring and summer.
I don't know how long the resulting image will last, but I suspect after her bath tonight, there might not be much left of it and then, she will cry. The gift that keeps on giving....
While I am not sure how long it will take for my eyes to recover from the sparkly abuse, at least we were able to spend a few hours outside of the house and, not too much came home with us, other than what can be eaten away - or surreptitiously thrown away.
Right, now it is time to enter into a sensory deprivation chamber to speed up the healing process.
How's your weekend going?

Stick on tattoo one can accept graciously for a little girl to enjoy after all she did not like all the other glitsy stuff on offer fortunately!
Market shopping/browsing can be a great morning out while still waiting for warmer weather to arrive, only buying foodstuff a wise idea.
Dusting and cleaning all those extra's become a nightmare and empty your pocket of money when actually not something useful...
Have a great weekend.
!LUV to the family up North.
@joanstewart(9/10) gave you LUV. H-E tools | connect | <><
I am just dreading when it fades off!:)
I am glad that at least on my side of the equation, there isn't too much that stands unused - I have grown to be pretty practical in many ways - not all :)
Have lovely evening Joan!
Lol Taraz
This was the best line of debauchery I've read all week.
I'm glad that you guys had a good time. Sorry about the lack of chocolate and the tattoo tears later, I've been dealing with tears all day so I sympathize.
Have a better Sunday :)
Good to have a little fun from time to time :)
Hopefully, not too much drama for you!
I think that with having a small child, there will always be a certain level of drama - it kinda comes with the territory, but all the other stuff that we get to experience as well totally makes up for it. I wouldn't trade it in for the world, sun, moon or stars.
Hope Smallsteps wasn't too upset after her tattoo vanished, it was quite a cute little hellokitty face I must say.
I like to go to shops and take a walk, I'd rather buy nuts than candies and chocolates. In some stores, I see some metal pieces like this that look like a rabbit, and they buy it at a very high price. Do you know what is special about this pieces?
I like nuts covered in chocolate...
I have no idea why anyone in their right mind would by this stuff at any price, cheap or expensive.
We have two snowy weekends one after another. Sun then snow then sun then snow, a strange weather. It is under 0° here right now, as if Istanbul was in Finland :)
lol - that is a surprise!
It will be -3 again over night and -6 last night - so there is a bit of a swing here too, but the feel of Spring is in the air.
I believe you really made your daughter happy by taking her out to experience things even though you didn't get much like you said she will really appreciate the tattoo lol even if it's not going to stay long on her arm
She had fun and the best bit of the entire outing for her, was hearing the pony neigh :D
You had a nice weekend and I guess your daughter had fun..
The shiny drawing looks nice.
I don't think she will be angry after a bath she will just wonder and ask questions
Nah, she is clever enough to not want a bath :)
What a lovely rabbit)
The stuff of nightmares.
That is an interesting take on that sentence. My wife likes nougat, but she doesn't have a sweet tooth like I do.
Life can suck a lot for many people. What has been interesting though for me is, that many people in my life far preferred it when I was the one unable to pay my bills. The other thing that has been interesting, is that regardless of what I have experienced or what it has taken to get to today, I am expected to feel guilty in some way for being above the poverty line now.
I wish everyone the best in their life, but me having a little more to spend, doesn't take away from others having more or less - it doesn't work that way.
Hopefully you are able to find ways to get more of what you want too :)
I know that feeling well and it has only been in the last two or three years that I have been able to go to the shop and not have to pray a little that my card goes through.
And yes, I fully agree - we should all be able to live with dignity and a large part of that is economic availability. I am looking forward to a time things are not like they are in the current economy for so many people.
