Hello, my friends. What will you do to enjoy the weekend? As for me, I want to save time 😅, so I will spend the weekend going to remote areas to visit disadvantaged children and that's also the time I spend enjoying everything around me. The feeling of going while enjoying the scenery will make me forget the feeling of being tired, stressed, and worried about my tomorrow. And through the trips, I will have more new experiences about the things around me as well as understand more about nature and people in the where I go through.
In my hometown, on Saturday and Sunday, primary school students will be off school so I will have 2 days off on the weekend. When I came to this land, I had a goal to help the children here have the opportunity to learn more English, as well as the desire to sow seeds of hope for a better future for them. I hope I have the strength to do that.
My journey today begins
Because of the long-distance, I started the trip at 6 am. Today's weather looks to be a sunny day as I see quite thick fog. This season in my hometown is winter, although it is sunny, it is cold. So I went with my small, pretty bike to the hidden parts of the forest. The distance is far, but I have 2 more companions on the road, so I don't feel scared by the strange scenery here.
I only see the wide road, the surrounding trees are lush and full of life but I feel a bit confused. I'm a girl who likes soft things, so I like to enjoy the peaceful, pure feeling of the atmosphere here 😍.
some information about the difficulties of this remote area
Many houses have only one hut in the middle of the clearing, the huts here are not the huts we usually take out for picnics but here the hut is the house, which has 4 posts and boards around (you can imagine it's a box) and has a roof made of palm leaves to cover the rain and sun. The reason why they have to live in such poor conditions is probably due to economic difficulties and the lack of family planning. Many households here, their parents are very young and they have many children in such a small house. Life is lacking in everything, so the children here are often malnourished and lacking intellectual ability.
The special thing I get from the people here
Although they are very poor, when we arrived they were very friendly, they were surprisingly simple and honest, and especially their hospitality surprised me. There was a house in the house with only 3 oranges left on the tree, but when they saw the guests, they were ready to pick them down to entertain us. Actually, I thought if it was my house, I'd save it to eat alone. We had a sharing time with the children in the area, but the great thing is that they all really want to go to school and have beautiful dreams about the future like in the future, they want to become a doctor to treat sick for their mother, or there are children who want to become an architect so that later they can build a house for their father to avoid getting wet in the rain. Simple, innocent thinking from children really makes adults feel heartbroken and I feel like I'm back in my childhood.
Nature on our way
The trees stretched on the road, the sunlight shimmered on the way we walked, I felt like I became small in the middle of the roads in the middle of the vast mountains. I really like looking at the sky in winter because it is very beautiful and clear, with clouds of all shapes and sizes, I also have the feeling that the sky is shining for us to overcome our limits and then contribute something to the people around us.
End of the trip today
We started to come home at 5 pm o'clock, it was quite dark and cold and when we returned, there is one thing that attracts me and has to stop and minutes on the way back is the magical beauty of the sunset on the river. The scene is poetic, peaceful, and even more contemplative. Each member of my group seemed to be reliving the innocent words of children, the dear greetings of people. The people here and their wishes and desires, so we just like that, quietly in the twilight to go home. To me, life is beautiful every day and I cherish every moment. I love the saying "No one becomes poor by giving" - Anne Frank.
