RE: Weekend-engagement week 13: Ask me anything

Hi @galenkp. What has been the most dangerous mishap or one that has generated a great demand for adrenaline in your adventures as a hunter.

Sort:

I used to hunt with three other fellows, one of which performed his own gunsmithing but was very bad at it and his rifle was always having issues.

On one occasion he was being an idiot and his gun went off by accident...The bullet flew over my head by inches...If it had hit me it would have taken my head off, or at least split it in two. That was the last time I went hunting with those three.

That was one of the most dangerous hunting situations I've had, most are completely safe.

Thanks for joining in, greatly appreciated.

Pick your companions wisely, is the moral you thankfully had the chance to learn from that experience.

Yes I agree. Up to that point things were ok but gradually that one individual got worse and worse. I don't miss going with them at all, and certainly don't miss being shot at.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

That is one awesome question.

I once sprained my ankle as I hunted for a missing sock but sadly that's all I got lol.

I hunted birds with my father a lot. He was a natural left hander so I always hunted to his right to give us a little extra spacing. Which has nothing to do with the question, I just thought of it.

I chose my hunting (or motorcycle riding) companions very carefully. I don't have any wish to be put at risk by a dick head.

I have twice been peppered with shot by dumb asses that shot toward me when a bird flew my way. Neither was hunting with me, and I had a chat with both of the dumbasses. I'd like to think they have become aware of their surroundings a little better.
