Promises, Hopes, and Dependence. At the edge of the forest, two men were running helter-skelter screaming for help. Apparently they were being chased by a big wolf, wild and hungry.

It so happened that their screams were heard by a hunter who was not far from that place. The hunter rushed over with his hunting rifle in hand.

After getting the right position, the hunter immediately fired his gun.

Two consecutive shots hit the target and immediately knocked down the wolf.

The two men were very grateful after surviving death. Still shaking and teary-eyed, the two of them approached the hunters and introduced themselves.

"Thank you, sir, for helping us. If you were not there, maybe we both would be devoured by the wild wolf earlier"

After becoming acquainted with each other, the three agreed to make the dead wolf eat dinner together. Instantly the three of them made a fire to warm themselves as well as roasted wolf meat.

While eating the grilled wolf meat, the two men shared their origins and occupations.

It turned out that one person was a Wheat trader. Meanwhile, another is a rifle seller.

That day, they had just finished buying and selling merchandise in the village across from the forest. After being satisfied chatting and exchanging stories, they agreed to meet again two months later at that place.

"As a token of gratitude, I will give a lot of wheat to support your family for four months," promised the wheat trader.

The rifle seller didn't want to be outdone. "I will reward you with the latest high-tech rifles and thousands of bullets."

The next day, the three of them parted ways with satisfaction in their hearts. The two men continued their journey, while the hunters returned home with the remaining wolf meat.

When he got home, the hunter excitedly told the story of his heroism to his wife and child.

' My Dear, from now on, you don't have to work so hard anymore, because soon, two men whose lives I saved will come to see me with lots of wheat. It is time for my old rifle to be destroyed, because I will get new and sophisticated rifles and thousands of bullets from other people. Good fortune is on our side. Now is the time to relax and take a long break from hard work. '

Long story short, two months had passed, but the two men did not arrive at the agreed place. Until the fifth month passed, finally the wheat merchant came hurriedly carrying a lot of wheat.

"Sorry, I'm three months late. My village had an accident and the wheat crop failed. This is the wheat that I promised first, "said the wheat trader.

The hunter immediately gave a languid bow after staring at the wheat merchant and his luggage containing food ingredients. Not having time to say a word, suddenly a seller of guns and his belongings appeared.

" Sorry I'm late. In my city there were riots. All types of weapons are prohibited from being traded and bullets are hard to come by. So only now have I brought the rifle and bullets I promised here, ”said the rifle seller apologetically.

The hunter remained languidly sitting and occasionally wiping his tears. His body was emaciated and his breath was panting. -Thank you, finally you guys came,- he said quietly.

"But all these gifts are useless. Yours will not bring my wife and children back to life."

You both know that we have been waiting for your luggage for months when we are hungry. Finally, my wife and children couldn't take it anymore and starved to death. "

After telling a heartbreaking story, the hunter breathed his last. The two mans wept bitterly regretting their delay which caused this tragic event.

POINT OF VIEW MY STORY:

Dependence on the gifts, favors, or the mercy of others, and at the same time living lazily, is clearly a wrong attitude to life and will have fatal consequences.

Because, no matter what or how we are, we ourselves must be responsible for our own lives.

Even though they know the consequences will be fatal, many people adopt this attitude to life.

There are many examples, for example a child depends on the help of his parents. There are also children who rely solely on the inheritance of their parents.

In the family, there are also relatives who constantly ask other family members for mercy.

This dependence is usually followed by a lazy attitude and does not want to try harder to change his own life.

Hello @ansleylivy,
You are so right in this case: a glaring instance of irresponsibility. One wonders how this foolish hunter survived to adulthood with such nonsensical beliefs. On a promise you base a life? The lives of your family?

This is replacing reality with fantasy. That is the realm of children, not adults. Well-told, sad story.

Because hunters have principles with too extreme and fundamental beliefs that end up being too forced and end badly.

This is one of the deepest stories I have EVER read, with the explanation. Well done.

Thank you :)

Most readers will likely be frustrated by the folly of the hunter. Readers wonder how the hunter could have continued to believe in false hope as his family withered. You deliver this message in the timeless tone of a parable. That works extremely well here.

Thank you for posting this story in the Ink Well community.

I might describe a hunter as someone who has such fanatical beliefs that he continues to believe in something that is coming, even if it is too late.

Thank you for the compliment, I did think hard to write this story.

Ah, a morality story! That is certainly a good lesson to learn - that we can't put all of our faith and hope in the promises of others.

That's right, trusting humans too much, that would put us in serious trouble. ;)
