Friendship forever

Come on, Sophia, we will be late Phoebe shouted, getting impatient.

Am almost done, just a minute I will soon be down, Sophia replied.

That's what you said 30 minutes ago answered Phoebe.

This time, for real, I will be there, Sophia replied.

Phoebe sight and slump on a couch in the living room. Phoebe and Sophia have been best of friends from tertiary Institutions; they live together, go on vacation together, and have experienced the ups and downs of life together, and nothing in this life is supposed to separate them.

Phoebe was lost in thought when Sophia came down the stairs looking so gorgeous and beautiful.

Phoebe stood with her mouth wide open, looking at her friend. She has never seen her friend looking dashing like this before.

You can close it right now before you suck up the beauty, Sophia said, snapping her fingers at Phoebe's face.

Phoebe came back to reality because she was lost.

Girl, you look stunning. Wait, I can feel there is something you are not telling me, Phoebe said, dragging Sophia to the couch she was sitting on earlier. Now tell me, what is the secret of this beauty? This evening, Phoebe enquired.

It's nothing, I just want to look extra. Can we go now? Ain't we late anymore? Sophia asked, looking at Phoebe with her eyes raised.

You are trying to avoid the question, but let's go, Phoebe said, giggling as they walked out to the parking lot.

When they got to the party, everywhere was lively, and different ushers carting drinks and small chops walked to and fro.

Sophia and Phoebe sat down at a chair in front of the bar. Suddenly, a woman walks up to them.

Everything was fine until the woman walked up to them.

Hello beautiful, I can read your palms, said the mysterious woman who walked up to them.

Phoebe and Sophia exchange nervousness and glance at each other.

Sophia, the outspoken one among them, broke the silence.

Yes, you can, but can you read with a solution, Sophia enquired from the strange woman.

Yes, says the lady in question.

Okay, there you go, says Sophia, stretching out her palm.

She looked at Sophia and shook her head; Sophia was scared and asked her what the problem was.

She told Sophia that she had an illness that would soon take her life if she didn't find a cure soon.

Sophia looks up surprised and in partial disbelief.

What are you talking about, Sophia asked.

Do you feel sharp pains in your lower abdomen and sometimes, you have swollen legs, you feel fatigued sometimes, she asked

Yes, Sophia answered.

Visit the hospital, she said, and immediately, as if being pushed by a force, Phoebe stretched out her hands.

When she looked at Phoebe's palm, the was a mixture of sadness and happiness in her eyes.

Phoebe, if you want to apply for a loan, don't even try it at all; you won't pay it back. Can you take it next year? Phoebe, your past is about to hunt you, but victory will be yours; accept it with open palms.

She turns back to Sophia, just visits the hospital, and allows only Dr Felix to check you. After that, your health will be restored. She said walking away.

Sophia and Phoebe have to leave the party on time after the revelation.

Two days later, Sophia visited the hospital; she specifically asked Dr. Felix as if she knew him before and after the whole examination.

It turns out that Sophia has right-sided heart failure. She wept like her world had ended, she dialed Phoebe's phone number explaining what the doctors say

Phoebe rushed and picked up Sophia from the hospital. The search for a cure started immediately.

Phoebe received a knock on the door on a sunny day; it was no other than her baby daddy. What are you doing here, Phoebe asked.

To return your daughter to you, Phoebe stood frozen at the door.

What do you mean, to return her for me, Phoebe was clearly pissed.

I want to travel, and nobody is to take care of her, so I thought it best I return her to you.

If I take this child from you, you won't see her again, Phoebe says with all seriousness.

He called it noise, and after two weeks, he came to claim the child back, but Phoebe refused to give her back and took the case to court; she won the case.

One day after Sophia got better, Phoebe had her child with her. Phoebe, you know this past few months, our life has gone through strong challenges.
Sophia says

You know everything was fine until we met that strange woman said Phoebe

Thank God we can out victorious at the end, Sophia said, smiling.

Thank you for taking the time to read

I always wondered how people can read lives by just reading palms.
I love the friendship of the girls. Standing by each other in hard times.

Thank you for stopping by

Hello @coolbabe88. This was an interesting story which would have been better if you had taken the time to edit it. There were too many spelling mistakes, issues with mixed tenses, punctuation (including lack of speech marks), and repeated phrases. It became too distracting to enjoy the story fully. Most of these are easy fixes. In The Ink Well we require our writers to focus on quality submissions and this means that they take the time to proof read their work and edit it with Grammarly or Google Docs before publishing it in the community. Curation rewards are unfortunately impacted when writers don't take the time to do this. Your story would also have been elevated if there had been some foreshadowing of what the Palmist later revealed to the two women.

Those people that read one's palm and interpret same can cause commotion in some instances. But then, it's important to note that her readings were correct, at least for Sophia.

I wonder where this category of people got their power from.

I still wonder too. Thank you for stopping by dear
