Oluwa mi o!!! Ayo screamed as he examined the contents of the bag, he was positive that no one in his family had ever seen that much money before.
He got out of the car and rushed towards the departure gate but a guard stopped him before he could get in.
“Oga show me your passport and your flight reservation” the guard ordered in a voice that informed Ayo that he knew he had neither.
“I’m not flying Sir, my client left his bag in my trunk…I need to…”
“Covid 19 rules say if you no dey fly you no fit enter airport, wait make your client come outside”. The guard interrupted clearly uninterested in the story Ayo was trying to tell him.

After several attempts to reason with other officers, Ayo headed home with the bag in his backseat, he was terrified for two reasons, one…he desperately needed money, his rent was due, business had been slow and his entire family was breathing down his neck for him to send money to them, he didn’t want to be tempted to consider this a blessing and start using the money to solve his problems.
The second reason was because he was concerned for the man who had left the money in his car, he had heard him say he was leaving the country on a Business trip, would this mistake make it impossible to conduct the business he had been hoping to?
He wondered what to do with the money, it was such an alarming sum that he was certain it’s owner wouldn’t just let it go, nobody would let that amount of money go, what should he do!!!
He decided to put off making a decision for the rest of the day and just focus on working for his own money.
As the day progressed his mind drifted away from the contents of the bag in his trunk and it’s content and instead went to his good old days as a cashier in the bank when he would always be around such huge sums of money with no hope of earning anything close, he was barely getting by even and then Covid 19 came and ruined everything, he was laid off from work and had to use his car to make ends meet. He had always considered himself a honest person, even as a child he would never take anything that wasn’t his, he was his mother’s favorite child because she knew she could trust him with anything. He knew what the old woman would say in a situation like this…”Omo mi, ohun ti kii ṣe tirẹ kii ṣe tirẹ“ meaning what isn’t yours isn’t yours, she had done her best to instill these values in all her children but his brother had always been over ambitious…he knew what he would say to him right now if he were here…”Ayo, where has being a good person gotten you? Doing Cabu cabu with a masters degree? Use your head o!!!”
He thought about his ex fiancé who had left him shortly after he lost his job, claiming that it had been revealed to her in a dream that he wasn’t her “soulmate”, how timely of the revelation to only come when he was

in dire straights…she would say “Oko mi (My husband) this money is God’s answer to all our prayers!!! You have been praying for a miracle since!!! God has given you your miracle!!!” But what kind of miracle came only at the expense of others?
He dropped off the last passenger for the day and drove to the police station nearest to the airport, at least if anything happened he would have peace of mind knowing that he did the right thing…as he walked into the station he saw a distressed woman hugging a man who looked oddly familiar, the man screamed and ran to hug Ayo as soon as he saw him. “I begged God to bring you here Oga” he said, his voice teary and emotional.
Ayo smiled…it didn’t matter what happened next, he had done the right thing.

You give Ayo a classic conflict. There is temptation, then there is his conscience. There is need, and then there is awareness of consequence. As Ayo goes through the different possible outcomes, he is conflicted. In the end, his righteous behavior is rewarded when he sees the relieved party at the police station. This is a very good character sketch.

Ayo is a good person and people like him received blessings in all round, one thing about life is, when you do good, goodness shall follow you, Ayo must have returned the money even while he was having family problem at the bottleneck, but one day his goodness would pay him so dearly.
Good story....🥰
Amen 🙏🏽 Thank you so much for reading
You are welcome bro 🥰
What an interesting story 👌👌👌
Thank You ☺️
Wow , this is so powerful !! I know of a scenario like this where the wife was the one who insisted that they should return the money . It’s always difficult to do especially when you’re in a terrible situation in life but I guess it’s just about doing the right thing , God is the rewarder , good will surely come back but a whole lot of people will criticize who returns it as life is really cruel nowadays
She must be an amazing woman, her husband is very lucky.
Absolutely bro people like that are rare!!
Well said 🙌🏾
