The weather has been somewhat predictable, like when dark clouds gather you know it's about to rain or during the dry season, you know there's no rain just dry wind and probably hot sun .
The people of ife had the same beliefs of the weather being predictable, the rain came at it's time, the dry season also came at it's time, everything was going normally as it should be.
Their reasoning about the weather changed one year, during the drought (dry season) when no rainfall was expected, farmers already harvested their crops and did some weeding in their farms . Bolaji and some rich men were engaged in putting up strong foundations for their new hut while the other men who couldn't afford to build another hut, managed to repair the roofs of their hut . Women went about their daily activities, children sang and chased each other under the hot sun.
The sun was at its peak that day, it was so hot that even after taking a bath, your body will be full of sweat.
But this didn't bother the people of ife as they were all looking forward to the holidays happily. As people went about their activities, suddenly the weather changed. Dark clouds emerged from nowhere and occupied the sky, thunderstorms were heard in different places, lightning was seen everywhere, the wind came with it's might. The people of ife were surprised, the rain was expected next year so why the dark clouds ??
“ I think it's going to rain heavily, seeing the dark clouds and windy atmosphere ” said mama Ayo(Bolaji's first wife).
"Yes, I think so too. But why is it raining in the middle of a drought season, when we haven't planted anything, our farms are empty” asked mama Ibe( Bolaji's second wife).
While they were still talking, a heavy wind came accompanied with dust. Dust got into people's eyes, mother's reached out for their children and took them inside their huts, the men and fathers kept strong itsems like stone on top of their roofs to prevent the wind from destroying them. Everybody hurried inside and lit their oil lamps to enable them see as it was completely dark everywhere, the elders were lost in thoughts about the sudden change of the weather.
The rain was expected to come at any minute but it didn't, the dark clouds disappeared, the thunderstorm and dusty wind stopped, the sun came back and continued it's job as if nothing happened. The people of ife came out to observe the clouds, as they were still talking about the strange clouds, something stranger happened, a heavy downpour was felt everywhere the rain started pouring down from the heavens. While the rain was pouring, the sun still maintained it's position. The rain fell heavily for two days non-stop, after it was finally over the people of ife were able to come out from their huts and checked on their farmlands.
The king called for the elders, some of the wise men in the village to discuss about the strange weather, as this has never happened in their lifetime or in their father's lifetime.
Some farmers saw this as a good sign for an abundant harvest season for the next year.
THE END !!!

A nice and interesting one...I love the way you described the sudden change in weather and the reaction of the people of Ife. Welldone 👊💪
It is interesting that the disruption in rainy season was such a huge event in this village, however it is hard to understand why one storm without crops in the ground caused so much chaos here. It would have been wonderful to see some development of Bolaji's character too, so that the dialog between he and his wives gave us more insight into how they feel.
