My afternoon fantasy

in The Ink Well6 months ago (edited)

I was in a mansion on a Saturday evening, beautifully furnished with imported chairs of my choice and art work. The kitchen is well decorated and filled with every kitchen utensil and piece of equipment that makes life easier for a woman, ranging from a rice cooker, deep freezer, refrigerator, pressure cooker, deep fryer, non-sticky pot, and many more.

A 70-inch Samsung television set was hung on the wall of the living room, with a home theater echoing out the sound produced by the television set. The plaster of Paris (pop) light on the pop decoration was beaming different colors of light, which illuminated the sitting room beautifully.

The compound is decorated with beautiful flowers, and a sound of a barking rottweiler dog was coming from a cage adjacent to the relaxation center, where one can cool off in the evening.

Also, my favorite car model, a Toyota Venza, and a recent model, a Range Rover, were parked under the shade in the space with the sign "car park."

"Hannah, Hannah," I called out to my housekeeper, whom I knew not where she disappeared, as I was sitting comfortably on one of the sofas with the television remote in my hand and an orange fruit juice on a tray placed on the table beside me.

"Yes, ma, sorry, ma, I went out to dispose of the kitchen refuse in the incinerator," Hannah said.

"Okay, what is on the menu for dinner?" I said while sipping out the orange fruit juice in my hand.

"It's porridge with vegetables. I will start as soon as possible, "Hannah replied.

"Oh, that's good. I thought it was rice. I would love to have something different before, but it's okay. Porridge is fine. Add enough crayfish and dried fish, please. You know exactly how I love it, right?" I asked Hannah.

"Yes, ma, you will like it, I promise," Hannah replied with a smile, then hurried to the kitchen to start preparation for dinner.

As I was about to lie down on the sofa, I heard a knock on my door.

"Come in, please," I answered, and when the door was opened, it was my manager named Ezekiel, but I called him Easy. I own a brand in my name where I sell luxurious unisex wear and accessories.

"Boss, good evening, ma. I was on my way home, and I decided to branch out to see you, ma, since you aren't in store today," Easy said.

"Oh, that's so sweet of you. I'm fine; I just needed to rest. Hope there is no problem in the store today," I asked.

"Not at all, ma; everything went well, and the clients you sent over came for their goods too," Easy replied.

"That's good, Hannah; get something for Easy to Drink, please," I replied, and I called out to my housekeeper, who was cooking in the kitchen.

"Okay, ma, I'm on my way," Hannah replied.

"Do well to wait for dinner; it will be ready soon," I said to my Easy.

"Thank you, ma," Easy replied with a smile as he was being served a cold orange juice by Hannah.

We continued to talk as we watched the program being shown on television together.

After about 30 minutes, Hannah called out to me that the food was ready and she had set the table.

"Okay, Easy Let's go and eat. I hope you chop porridge (I hope you like porridge)." I said to Easy with a smile.

"Very well, ma," Easy replied with a smile.

I tapped his back, and we both sat down to enjoy the delicious porridge cooked by Hannah. I dished for Easy and myself, then called out to Hannah, who was busy cleaning the kitchen, to join us on the dining table.

After eating, Easy left, and I was in the living room with Hannah watching a Nigerian movie titled "My Wedding Party." It was so funny that I laughed out loud with Hannah.

Then I felt a touch on my leg and heard someone calling my name from afar.

"Why is she smiling while sleeping for God's sake, big sis? Wake up," I heard my younger sister say.

I opened my eyes and saw myself on a sofa in my father's living room. "Did you receive an alert while sleeping?" she asked sarcastically.

"Geez, was it a dream?" I asked, looking lost.

"When you are sleeping in the afternoon, why won't you be daydreaming?" my sister said with a smile.

"Leave me, please. So it was a dream, oh my God, and it was so perfect," I said, smiling and wishing it were in reality.

"Josephine the dreamer, mom is calling you," my sister said as she left.

I stood up to answer my mom, and even though I've heard her calling my name loudly, I knew all was a dream.

Lmao.
This was funny.
You just made me recall one time when i was younger, and my dad had asked me to go call my big brother.
I found him in the room sleeping and smiling, and i woke him up.
You needed to have seen the speed and amger with which he chased after me. Thank goodness my dad was home to rescue me.
According to him, they were handing him a big amount of money in that dream and hust wjen he was anouf to receive it, i woke him up.
The dream made sense in a way, but i still found the whole thing funny😅😅

Hello @rare-gem, it was a dream of something that apparently you want, for your life, and from what I read you enjoyed it, I hope you manage to fulfill that dream for you.
!ALIVE

I hope so too thank you

This is a nicely written story, @rare-gem. That would be a wonderful dream indeed. You mean you don't have a devoted housekeeper in real life?

Regarding "it was just a dream" endings, we have a suggested article for you: https://peakd.com/hive-170798/@theinkwell/writing-tip-35-dont-use-the-it-was-just-a-dream-escape-hatch

Good luck and keep writing!

I don't, in African homes, parents believe as a female child you have to do all the works in order to become a good wife when you get married. I will check out the article, thanks

Okay Lol sorry your dream was interrupted but at least you had good food and a lot of relaxation.

Yeah sure

This was a dream with many amenities @rare-gem. I think you enjoyed it while it lasted. I enjoyed reading it, it was funny.
