Helen and Henry, it had a nice ring to it every time she thought about their relationship. They were the perfect cliche, the ride or die type of romance. She often imagined their story spewing from the lips of others and how they would say it with such envy because she knew the kind of love they had was rare.
They had fought many demons together in those 2 years. She remembered clearly how much it took from her to win this man she was certainly going to spend the rest of her life with. It was not an easy fight, but her mother always told her true love had to be fought for. And so she fought, I mean literally fought.
She could recall how much pain she felt after the fight with the girl called Rachel. She stared herself down in the mirror, bruised and battered but she felt satisfied because she looked better than her opponent who left with only a functional eye.
It was not the best life, she knew. Henry in all his glory and wealth was a horrible cheat but she knew after that fight it would be her last and she wouldn't have to bother about anyone coming between them anymore. He loved her completely now, she was sure.
The wedding arrangements were all she dreamed about from the first day she met him on that date with his ex-girlfriend, her ex-best friend, Annie. He was everything she ever wanted and she knew she had to have him. So she threw the friendship aside and won the man.
I mean, it is every woman for herself in the end. No dulling. You snooze you lose. And she won. One random meeting, lead to some planned visits to his apartment and then finally, she moved in. He seemed upset but he eased in. Didn't take long for Annie to find out. That was the first fight she won for love. It was worth it, she told herself.
Here she is at the bridal shop picking out a wedding dress with her new set of friends who are not her class in the first place, but better to have a set of paid friends she can control than some competition for her man.
Staring out the glass and the familiar feeling she loathes begins to rise from her bowels as she sees what her mind refuses to accept. It's Henry with a woman but this time the woman is different from the others.
Henry has a taste, you see. The women she had fought off him are easy to fight off unless they own some supernatural strength like Rachel. They are small and weak-looking. They never seem to have any fight in them, much like her friend Annie. She was also on the small side but not that small. She could effortlessly lift these ladies thanks to her developed muscles from her days as a wrestler.
This lady walking with Henry is anything but weak. Yes, she's small but her bodyguard screams don't mess with me.
Helen stares daggers into this perfectly looking walking out of the back seat of a Maserati. She knows this fight is beyond her but what if she doesn't try. That perfect man belongs to her, how can he not see this?
As she walks to the door ready for the chaos she's about to unleash, she tells herself, like she always does, "this is my last fight and after this, he'll be completely mine".

Your Ink Well story for this week meets the challenge of the prompt very well. This young lady is certainly tempted to do bad things, because she wants something that is obviously out of her reach. She is such an unpleasant person that readers almost wish she would get what she wants: a perfectly dreadful mate.
Your wry humor works well here. Thank you for sharing this with us. Have you commented on the stories of at least two other authors in the community? Thank you!
Note: You probably meant 'battered' instead of 'batteries'.
Thank you for reading. Yes, I've edited it.
Fighting to gain love may not work out sometimes as you do not know that mind of the one you call your man. Remember that some men are just cheaters and can easily deceive you to the fullest.
Yup. That's the case

Merci ❤️
You will continue fighting o my sister 😂. This is just the beginning. If he left his girl for you, he will leave you for another. Na craze sha de worry your engine.
I love how you write dear. Why don't I see your fictions? 👀
I took a long break. But I'm mentally back in the game now. You'll be seeing more of my work.
Oshey
Hahahaha she is seriously fighting for love.
She's doing well, she sure have strength for such.
Her fight is meaningless, because that man is not willing to change. She should not force it.
If she can take her time and care for herself, she will definitely see other things to fight for not one that is not worth it.
I love your story and how you narrates it.
Thank you. I enjoyed writing it.
I was wondering what she would do to the woman. Would she punish the man as well?
With a mentality like hers, no. The man is too precious.
It's really simple, if he leaves somebody for you, it's going to be easy for him to leave you for another. It's pointless to fight for someone who isn't willing to change. I had a lot of fun reading this..great write
Thank you.
Nope, that won't be her last fight with a guy like that as her life partner.
Thank you
For a man like that, I hope she wins him
