I aim to maintain a writing standard here, where I can openly share the things I've seen and experienced, even if they might seem mundane at times. Lately, Hive has become a very strong interest of mine 🐝. I'm trying to learn as much as I can while developing UnderHive 🚀 and better understanding my audience.
My relationship with technology is as a tool 🔧, and UnderHive is the tool for underground creative revolution, or at least that's what I want it to become. I see Blockchain as a possibility for shifting values regarding digital production 💾 and how it can be sustainable and interlinked.
Beyond coding, I'm an artist 🎨 surrounded by artists. I've often thought about buying works from friends that I liked, but didn't want to pay for the unique physical piece due to its relative high cost. This is where Blockchain comes in, a way to create real value over a digital item 🖼️, and to provide the opportunity to collect and store these items in a tangible way, not just as an index in a database of an app.
The network facilitated by blockchain is something that the web2 mindset still struggles to understand and digest 🤔. I feel that people need to see this as an opportunity for internal revolution, not external. I say internal because it only makes sense if the person is part of the network willingly, understanding the value it generates, beyond the financial 💸.
Knowing all this, I've been searching for months for a way to introduce web2 people to the appreciation of the creative content they generate, and that's where I found Hive 🌐. I'm building UnderHive to be a space that moves the underground scene without the need for direct capital injection from creatives. I want artists, regardless of their art form, to be paid for generating public goods (art pieces) 🎭.
I confess my vision is very idealistic of what it can be and what I believe it to be, and that's why I want to understand Hive and its economy, to see if what I believe really makes sense. At times, I feel like I'm in a pyramid scheme 🏗️, and it bothers me to think that I might be so deluded by the ends, that I fail to see the problems with the means.
I also want this post to be bi-directional, hoping it sparks a discussion so that I can return next week with more insights based on what I've read 🔄. I'm counting on you to send me content references, and also to share your views on onboarding and creative production.

this statement made me think. when people are part of the network Unwillingly, without knowing what they are doing on the blockchain, maybe it becomes devalued.
all blockchains are sort of a ponzi scheme.. they need new users to keep joining and buying to drive the price up . idk
how the skatehive posts get monetized legitly, is due to human curation. there are certain members in the skatehive community who submit the best posts to a committee of people who control a whale upvote
Inspiring post bro. I hear your ponzi schemes concerns, Hive seems too good to be true but it is true. Hive is battle tested for over 6 years and has tons of cool builders and community members who really fought and fight hard for decentralisation.
You should check out how Hive was born and our battle against giants like J. Sun and Binance who wanted to centralize the chain. Here's an example, mnay posts out there to check out

I think this article will be useful for you:
The tokenomics of the Hive network
HIVE is an inflationary cryptocurrency, meaning that there is currently no rule that limits the supply of HIVE coins. This may change in the future if the community decides to propose a supply limit via decentralised governance, or perhaps introduce a coin burn (permanent removal from circulation) protocol just like Ethereum after the London hard fork.
For now, HIVE has an inflation rate of about 7.5% per year. The inflation rate decreases by 0.01% every 250,000 blocks. In annual terms, this is a decrease of 0.5% per year. This decrease will eventually stop at 0.95%. If calculated from 2021, the constant inflation rate will begin in the year 2034.
In the Hive whitepaper, “HIVE inflation” refers to the reward system. While most investors would think that inflation is not a good thing, in the Hive ecosystem, reinvesting HIVE rewards towards staking is highly encouraged.
New HIVE is released in a scheduled manner, and is distributed in the following manner:
65% is split equally between content producers and content curators (those who actively engage with the content, by upvoting, commenting, and sharing).
15% is given to HP stakers
10% is given to the Witnesses
10% is saved into the Decentralised Hive Fund, which is the network’s treasury used to fund community proposals.
The mechanism for which new HIVE is released among the content producers and curators uses the Proof of Brain protocol.
