Silent Update in Gods Unchained DPE Reward System

The day has come and Gods Unchained did a silent hot-fix on the DPE reward system.
Previously, based on the official blog post, there was a win boost modifier for total wins. After the new DPE release in September, the modifier was as follows:

  • 1: 0.00
  • 2: 0.01
  • 3: 0.03
  • 4: 0.04
  • 5: 0.05
  • 6: 0.06
  • 7: 0.09
  • 8: 0.18
  • 9: 0.29
  • 10: 0.38

But there was also a hidden modifier bonus not mentioned in the documentation: a win-streak bonus was applied after more than one win. The modifier value was close to 0.02, which came from legacy DPE system logic that was not cleared after the new release... until now.

Investigating the Change

This week, after some user reports, I decided to investigate and run tests based on my earnings. I discovered that the official blog was modified. The bonus table has changed significantly, and it’s now called the 'Consecutive Wins' bonus.

As you might already guess: values in GU doc are not accurate. See the real modifier values after my tests and analysis:

  • 1: 0
  • 2: 0.058
  • 3: 0.078
  • 4: 0.11
  • 5: 0.135
  • 6: 0.16
  • 7: 0.185
  • 8: 0.2
  • 9: 0.225
  • 10: 0.25

Current state

  1. Reset on Loss
Upon a loss, the bonus resets to 0 and must be rebuilt from scratch. This introduces the possibility of a "low roll" even with 9 wins, especially if a loss occurs after 4–5 wins.
Also a win-lose-win-lose-win setup now earns significantly fewer fragments compared to the previous system.

  2. Impact on Earnings
By running some tests on the Gumeta calculator, I noticed that the average earnings for 5 wins are only slightly lower.

  3. Table Up to 12 Wins?
Interestingly, the table now goes up to 12 wins, even though only 10 games count for DPE. Could this indicate future plans to increase the game count?

The changes seem to favor streaks of consecutive wins, but the system penalizes interruptions in those streaks more heavily than before. Overall you'll earn a bill less than before...

Testing New DPE

Yesterday, I ran a test and wrote down all the earnings for my setup:

  • Rank: Mythic
  • Card Quality: 25 Diamonds and 5 Meteorites

I modified the calculator on my computer to reflect an accurate visualization of the my game history.

my local dev setup

  • 1st game: Won (no bonus)
  • 2nd game: Lost
  • 3rd game: Won (no bonus)
  • 4th–6th games: Won (bonus applied)
  • Afterward, some games were lost, and the last game was a win with no bonus applied.

As you can see, it’s quite challenging to apply these changes to the Gumeta calculator since total earnings can vary significantly from day to day. I did my best to adjust the logic and have already released a new Gumeta.web.app version.

Remember that the fragments per win are estimations that doesn't reflect your personal score. You are welcome to run your own tests and report any inconsistencies!

Great public service post & work.

Small update:

Now I'm sure that it wasn't intentional change and I'm sure what Jammy said is true from manager and product point of view. BUT their development is a bit messy so some bugs happen, some untested code is released, team has is making many mistakes so they might have no idea what is pushed to production and when. No change log, no updates no transparency
