RE: Why should you get more upvotes?

in Ask the Hive2 years ago

Normaly i write "just" in my motherś language German. And in this little Bubble, i think i get a lot of comments and upvotes from our German Hive Users.

To get more Upvotes, i have to write in English. But i do not want that, becouse of 100Million potential readers in the world are way enought for me to deliver with my kind of content.

I think in the end, english content is a little bit to present in the internet. A lot people switch from their mothers language in english, to get more attention. But i long therm, all that beautifull languages in the world should be worth to be readed, watched and in the end votet too.

We should not loose our languages for be all the same kind of speaking.

Bin da der gleichen Meinung. Sich an andere Communities anbiedern und als Deutschsprachiger englich fett oder zuerst zu setzen, ist ein Graus.

vreemd ik post liever in het Engels dan in het Nederlands 🤣

my German is to rusty so i stick with English most of the times

I do agree but I am Estonian. If I were to write Estonian here then basically no one would understand me 😀

Same issue with my swedish, although I've been thinking of adding translations now and then and trying to get some of my friends to read my shitposts. :D

Hmm why not post in both? If you don't like the english text being visible you could do something like a spoiler bar hide the translated version. I just feel like you may be missing out on potential followers and consumers for very little effort or aesthetic preference. I mean it's not like there's 100mil german speaking users on Hive or chances they're going to find out about your content.

I understand german pretty well, btw, but sometimes it takes a lot more effort to consume it so I'd prefer if authors would include both.
