Bit of a different kind of post here today, and I don't want it to be misunderstood, but I think everyone would like to receive more upvotes for their content/comments. I'm not sure if everyone is aware of what curators look out for and value, with the way hive rewards work where stakeholders are basically diluted in exchange for rewarding content and curators earn at the same time if they vote on things others agree with (or at least don't disagree with) it's kind of a very different beast from the general adrevenue filled #web2. There it's more of a win-win situation, the platform and content creators receive a cut of the adrevenue while those who lose out are generally the smaller content creators along with all users of which the ads are targeted towards. While Hive can work in its current model without ads and scale exponentially and without upper limits, I think it's something more people need to understand why we're more careful with who and what we reward as there's a ecosystem-wide loss involved for stakeholders compared to say just some advertisers not getting the clicks they were looking for overturned into sales of their products.
Anyway, I usually make some posts asking to recommend me new users that aren't you for me to follow and possibly curate, but figured I'd switch it up a bit and ask you directly why you think you should get more upvotes for your activity here (maybe even why less?). Maybe I can give you some pointers or advice looking at it from my perspective as a manual curator and what I find value in other than just the content looking at users on my feed and maybe I'll find some new people to follow this way. Might be interesting!
If effort equals quality - many, many users here deserve more upvotes.
But I don't think it does.
I know it can be frustrating to spend a lot of time to get a few votes afterwards. But spending a lot of time on something does not mean that the quality of the creation/article is high. It only means that we have spent a lot of time on it.
There is simply no market or demand for certain things. If the supply is greater than the demand, that is how it is. It is that simple.
This is more apparent on the hive than in our everyday life.
Everyone wants to make more money from their posts, but we sometimes forget that it's a self-perpetuating machine - we have to be consumers, not just creators.
We need to set aside time to read others' posts, to comment, to find topics of our interest. This is the only way we can regulate the hive 'market'. This way we can work for it and get something back.
I am here like 3 months now, and I realized that I just have to acknowledge there is plenty still to learn for me. I was fortunate enough to be taken in by #dreemport almost at the very beginning of my journey, and engaging with reading/curating posts, participating in #PYPT on discord, or collab with #silverbloggers and so on.
This place it is so much more than way to make some bucks.
I was just chatting with a friend yesterday about the churned-out content that we often come across on Hive as opposed to decent great quality content. I don't think it is unique to Hive but I do think that curators should be focusing on rewarding content which is reflective of the quality that they wish to see representing the platform.
And you are 100% correct! Hive is a platform that thrives on engagement! Writers cannot expect to land on the platform and build a decent following for their blog if they are not prepared to engage BOTH on their own posts and on the posts of others. People need to have a give and take mentality. Supporting others with encouraging or insightful comments, nurturing relationships with likeminded writers - these things are the value-add that being a part of the Hive community brings... if people are prepared to step outside of their own bubbles.
And I am so happy that you are finding joy in being a part of Dreemport 💗I joined Dreemport in August '21, a couple of months after it launched, and I have never looked back. It provided me with a wonderful outlet for sharing my Hive posts and exposing me to a wide variety of posts of all genres. Dreemport ensured that I got guaranteed eyes on my content when I was still very new to Hive. The enhanced value of community that Dreemport brought has also given me a blogging family who brings so much joy to my days and the support and guidance I have received has been immeasurable. Some of these dreemers have since become treasured friends off-chain too. I love the monthly collaboration challenges that Dreemport runs with different Hive communities, introducing those communities to dreemers and thereby increasing the number of members and posts in those communities as well as introducing Dreemport to existing community members to show how we can complement and add value to their Hive experience.
I loved this comment of yours, Strega! I've been absent from Hive for a few weeks... and before that didn't manage to post much in April either - life decided that it had other things in store for me... and pulled me away for a short time (that can be frustrating in itself lol) ... But I'm back writing... for me, this means that I may have a post in a few days time as I usually spend days writing, researching and editing my fiction posts... and yes... sometimes my posts earn very little despite the many hours that I put into them and sometimes I am fortunate enough to garner a few higher value upvotes... but regardless, I love the engagement I receive on my posts and I love engaging with others on theirs. It's this back-and-forth in the comments that create true connection and value. !LUV !ALIVE !LADY
Missed you @samsmith1971 so much!
Yeah, I am spending days on drawing, and sometimes hours on writing. English is my second language, so it is actually take my good while to make sure that my metaphors and phrasal verbs make any sense :D In this way, I not only improve my language skills, but take a step forward in building better quality content.
What I try to say- when you do what you love, time passes unnoticed :) and you are just grateful you can do what you want to do in this very moment.
Completely agree 💗And I've missed you too! I'm going to check out your blog later today to catch up !LUV

Basically I don't know the mechanism behind curated someone post, I don't know why people get more upvote on their post, maybe their content deserve 💫
But here is the reason why i should get more upvote on my content because i want to get More HP and i think it's the only way which i can afford now. Maybe there's other way to increase HP but for now i try this way
Well, this is a good first participant. I upvoted your latest post randomly earlier checking through all posts filtered by new and looked over your account then and can't find anything wrong with your activity from a curator's perspective. You engage quite a bit with others, you post in many unique communities and your posts aren't too short or low effort. You got yourself a new follower!
I try my best to be good on Hive and follow the rules, neither i beg anyone for curated my post, nor i like to upvote my own content because i think other will curate if they find it good
Thank you for curated my content and follow me too. I hope you'll never see something wrong my side 💫
Enjoy your weekend
Likewise!
Some posts is short enough and can get 8$ - 10$ and even sometimes 15$
Some posts much more bigger, detailed - but getting 5-10 cents.
I even saw a post with one picture, one short YouTube video and one sentence. All. Very useful content for a million straight dollars, which earned $ 15.
This game, that called "good curation of a good posts" - total bullshit.
It's my personal opinion. I often see posts that are not bad, but no one fucking needs them and no one votes for them, simply because either the person is new or something else.
Maybe the reason is that the platform is poorly built, and the posts of newcomers are not visible at all.
New people come, try and leave. Because no one is interested in spending a couple of hours writing a good post and getting 1-3 cents for it at best.
That said, here's some pointers to your account activity:
Post more often, if you have nothing to post about then just engage with others posting about things you're interested in after consuming their content.
Don't delegate out all your HP, use it for influence and to network with people, it doesn't matter how small it is, a comment along with a vote is a lot more meaningful than just a comment while you earn passive rewards.
Don't vote for witnesses who give you some their earnings based on your stake, witness votes are meant to be earned through trust and/or what they do for the ecosystem. If everyone did what you did we'd end up like Steem where everyone's getting in top ranking witness positions by bribing their way there and stakeholders only care about returns which leaves the DPOS network vulnerable to attacks.
Your account in general seems so inactive it's almost making me think you're just someone's alt account who's mad about something and decided to come in here and leave a reply on a top comment for attention.
You seem to have this weird fallacy that just because you put a lot of effort and quality into a post you should be curated when you are new. Where does this idea come from, honestly? Do you think content creators on youtube, twitch, personal blogs, medium, literally any other platform instantly start making money? Or do you think it may take months until they may start seeing even a tiny amount of revenue, with few exceptions that make it big fast.
It's really tiring hearing the same argument over and over on a platform that's more newbie friendly than literally all of the others combined. We're so newbie friendly that there's people literally pretending to be others to post their content for "easy rewards" that make life harder for curators. What sets us apart is that we're young, small and incentivized to go out and curate new users because we want people to stick around and be part of this experiment and share the benefits the ecosystem under one currency brings to all of us, big or small. These same incentives don't exist on other platforms, unless they turn you into their content.
You're literally replying to a comment of mine where I state that I curated this user randomly before I wrote this post, as I was browsing the recently created filter of all posts on the platform. I do that from time to time (and I imagine others do too) even though it's kind of annoying to sift through a ton of "junk" posts or posts from dapps I'm not really interested in curating so I usually stick to the community feeds or my own following feed. Do you think YouTubers or other content creators of other platforms go and browse the "new" section often?
I'm not generally against short posts being curated but it depends a lot if there's interest and consumption of them, take this post for example. If someone else made this and got 0-1 responses but some stakeholders voted it up to the same levels I wouldn't deem it reasonable or fair that the author gets away with those rewards, especially if those upvoters had a track history of abusive upvotes.
Ha ha ha. How funny. Newbie. I've been here since then, just like you. We have the same registration year. You registered 2 days earlier than me. Experienced user =))) Ha-ha-ha
Did it ever occur to you, my friend, that if such arguments are often heard, then they make sense?? Or do they sound just for beauty? I'm not going to argue. I don't want this. I'm just surprised at how much text you wrote. Did my message hurt you? =)
I was only a little hooked by the message - the argument about short posts. It seems to me that it doesn't matter at all.
I saw posts where there is one photo and there is already money there. How do you know if it's quality or not? Everyone has their own vision of quality. That's why I said that curating is the biggest bullshit on this platform. It doesn't mean that the platform is terrible, but its concept is not clear to me.
I don't know how to make money with posts. So I just talk to people. Sometimes.
No, didn't hurt me, just annoying how some people like to blame the platform while they haven't done anything of value to grow alongside others. I may be an exception with delegation I've received from curation but there's many others who've started around the same time and grown just as much if not more over the years. They've found something they're good at, that brings value to the ecosystem and users in one way shape or form and the ecosystem has continually rewarded that. You must be one of the other guys.
If the concept of curation isn't clear to you by now then you're really not put in any effort to figure anything out. The issue I have is that you're blaming curation and the ecosystem as a whole rather than looking at your own activities and history and figuring out why it hasn't been working, which I wrote you a comment letting you know what may be the issue but not like I'm going to go out of my way to continue this conversation any longer.
Congrats on getting yourself a very strong follower 😝
Normaly i write "just" in my motherś language German. And in this little Bubble, i think i get a lot of comments and upvotes from our German Hive Users.
To get more Upvotes, i have to write in English. But i do not want that, becouse of 100Million potential readers in the world are way enought for me to deliver with my kind of content.
I think in the end, english content is a little bit to present in the internet. A lot people switch from their mothers language in english, to get more attention. But i long therm, all that beautifull languages in the world should be worth to be readed, watched and in the end votet too.
We should not loose our languages for be all the same kind of speaking.

Bin da der gleichen Meinung. Sich an andere Communities anbiedern und als Deutschsprachiger englich fett oder zuerst zu setzen, ist ein Graus.
vreemd ik post liever in het Engels dan in het Nederlands 🤣
my German is to rusty so i stick with English most of the times
I do agree but I am Estonian. If I were to write Estonian here then basically no one would understand me 😀
Same issue with my swedish, although I've been thinking of adding translations now and then and trying to get some of my friends to read my shitposts. :D
Hmm why not post in both? If you don't like the english text being visible you could do something like a spoiler bar hide the translated version. I just feel like you may be missing out on potential followers and consumers for very little effort or aesthetic preference. I mean it's not like there's 100mil german speaking users on Hive or chances they're going to find out about your content.
I understand german pretty well, btw, but sometimes it takes a lot more effort to consume it so I'd prefer if authors would include both.
Oh, no please... No more upvotes ^^
Even if quality is subjective, there’s still a common minimum to get to the point of objective quality. Will not talk about my own post practice, but one thing that I’m often seeing is people, new users most of the time, posting 2 or 3 times a day... for sure this is mostly counterproductive as the global time spent creating is divided...
Interesting research, I will look forward to see the participation under your post :)
Have a pleasant Sunday !
Yeah less is definitely more, especially when you can spend a lot more time on specific posts instead and then socialize and network to get people to consume them. That's also something I like to look at when curating content, how much perceivable consumers you get on average. This of course is a bit of an exception towards newcomers and more for those who've been around a while but it also speaks about your networking if you dish out good content, get a lot of votes but no one's there to consume them it usually means you're lacking in the networking aspects and may be getting a bit too overrewarded.
To be honest, I know that I don't spend enough time networking... With the time to capture the images, possible retouching and the composition/writing of the article, I could hardly spend more time. One of the ideas I mentioned in my first comment could be: share less and visit more, but I think my introverted side often gets the upper hand ^^
Upvote = popularity in hive
Let’s take this post as example… no image, no formatting, no external or internal link, no SEO, only in English.
At the same that I’m writing more than 800 upvote more than $50 and more than 100 comments.
Many time I read post 1 post with 10x better content than this one, but the creator get 46 upvotes for couple dollars.
Why?
Because the way Hive works is about who knows you and how big is your wallet.
And the funny thing that many people in here say that “quality” is relative.
If you want more upvote, become more popular or invest a lot of money in staking hive and you will see how the upvote will fly you way and of course create high quality content.
I think "or" is more fitting there rather than "and" because they don't have to be mutually exclusive, if you do both well, then sure, you can do really well here with post rewards but it's not always for granted. We have plenty of whales who get less rewards than minnows, even newcomers if they're content and effort behind networking is outstanding.
You last sentence makes more sense, yes. The issue I had with a comment earlier is that they think curation is broken because it's not fair constantly or that it has to always depend on the content. That's not how things work and I kind of don't mind that it doesn't work that way cause it's another thing that sets curation on Hive aside from the rest of revenue such as from ads in web2. Being able to gain influence by buying and powering up a lot of stake is one of the most underrated and underused values of the ecosystem. Take people like @theycallmedan for instance, it's not like he had a lot of following outside of Hive when he started, he also didn't have any projects or plans or a following here. He powered up a lot and the important thing here is that he used his power well. To grow projects, grow other net positive users aiding him with his vision and plans and now he's one of the most famous users in the ecosystem. Meanwhile there's been whales like Bernie, Transisto, etc, who've done close to nothing with their stake other than upvoting "content" or people and not that many care about them (sure there will always be some who pretend to care in hopes of favors in return, etc, but that's one of the side-effects of having a lot of stake).
Lastly, you don't need to have a lot of stake or power up a lot to become "famous", that's the other side of the network that enables people to earn and gain attention through their activities and history of the account and it's really one of the beauties of Hive that you don't see in many other places.
In my own understanding, I think that I should get more upvotes because I am writing with original content, with quality atleast for me because I did my best to write them and also I engage with others by reading, commenting and upvoting their blogs as long as I can. I also reblog contents that I like that brings some messages, lessons, or teaching to others.
I can't still understand why other people receive a lot of upvotes but maybe their reputation is high and they have a lot of followers and they engage more and more.
All I know is I need to engage more and I am trying to work it out as long as I have time.
That's a good attitude to have and will definitely reward you long term, I can see you already do very well with how your content gets consumed and engagement occurs. Rewards are okay as well from what I can see, something to keep in mind is that the most important part of the rewards is the hive rewards as the hbd ones can adjust quite a lot based on market swings, in that regard I think you're doing really decent. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for this inspirational response.
You mentioned about hive rewards, are they the same with hive power? Rewards are divided into two, hbd and hive power. I keep the hbd and just let my hive power grows.
Yeah, but you can also for instance go 100% power up on posts to receive both as Hive (Power) when you feel like Hive is too low in the markets, then potentially power down a bit and sell for HBD later than just always accepting half as HBD. That's kind of a personal preference and can be a bit risky, though, if you have to wait a long time for the markets and may need some hbd(USD) at some point.
This is also another advise. I haven't tried powering down ever since and don't experience it yet how it works.
Some also advice to keep the hbd, put it into savings for it to grows.
For now, I will go this way because I can easily sell my hbd if I need some finances. Thank you so much for your advice. Hopefully I can try it one day.
. I want to thank you because thanks to your initiatives I managed to raise enough money to buy a computer
I started in Hive thanks to my son, who gave me the account, 04 months later I had to leave the platform, I felt that I was making an effort that was not rewarded, then my son told me that I should insist, not only to learn, but to understand what Hive is and so I continued.
Sometimes I stop to read posts, some I don't want to generalize, and they have high curations, are empty in content of value and don't have a single comment.
I think that's the hardest thing to understand on Hive, that it's a nice community, where your effort is sometimes rewarded and sometimes not.
As for my content, it's about Art, I'm resuming movie reviews and soon I'll start with tutorials.
My main idea is to offer valuable content on Hive, learn every day and make community.
Translated in Deepl
Hmmm... Interesting subject.
I don't know about other whales but you being a whale what sort of content you like to upvote?
I've tried to keep this account general for the sake of curation and diversity of users and content, in the future at some point I'm probably going to be unfollowing people to set my preferences to the content that truly interests me.
Hmm. I guess any good content deserves to get upvoted :) But as you say, it depends on you yourself what sort of content you would like to see.
The best curation value tool for me is the ability to search for content I identify with. That specifically because I need to find stuff I am trying to promote or find more about. And ecency search tool does a great job in that arena.
Would be very excited if an AI version of it would exist. As I know the potential.
I don't know whether everybody should get more upvotes as there is a limited HP in the blockchain. However, a good quality post should absolutely get enough votes. Sometimes, I see undervalued posts here.
Yeah well, votes are divisible so they technically could receive more votes even if the hive reward pool is the same, and hopefully that would mean are broader and fairer distribution.
If someone can bring original content or something of their own, they put in effort or make the post enjoyable to the curators and showing they enjoy what they do and want to share it with the community to enjoy, that are some things that can deserve bigger upvotes.
Engaging with people to provide meaningful responses and just being around when possible to stick with Hive could be a big help.
I am guilty of not engaging often enough these days, I work full time and study part time while having other things going on and I need to try engage a little more with people, not just when someone engages on my posts!
Ultimately if you have a curator come by and enjoy your post and you get the big upvote, then you did something right. 😅
I've always believed in the philosophy that no matter how bad it is, if you keep churning out "quality" content, curators would inevitably catch up with you.
I do think I deserve more upvotes. At least I pride myself in the fact that I never plagiarize or spam. I just stay mute whenever I have nothing to share. Still, there are more people who deserve the votes than me, like @tmicezack.
He is a new lad, and I reckon a bit of an encouragement would go a long way
Thanks Acid for all you do
It might be a good idea to participate in others posts more, and even get involved in a Hive server or two on Discord :) Make friends, and things are sure to get better.
!PIZZA
Will do
Thank you for the advice 🙌🏾
Not to sound harsh but being "proud" over not plagiarising, something so common sense you pretty much learn in school not to do, isn't much to strive after. Aim higher!
Okay 👍
As someone new to Hive blockchain, I firmly believe that every author who posts quality content deserve more upvotes. And that the post passed a certain standard like there is so much effort put into it. What a thought-provoking question for today, acid! I love to hear your perspective as a manual curator in Hive. Have a nice time and take care.
I don't disagree but I think that content in and of itself isn't everything, I'd much rather curate users who create content and are socially active and receive engagement on their posts than those who don't. Unfortunately there's still way too many votes occurring where they don't take that into account which often leads to a lot of posts on trending with very low engagement/consumption.
Yes, I so agree with you. I also believe that the success of every content creator is always correlated to engagement. No matter how good anyone is as a writer or an author, if there is no connection with the audience, it does not make any difference at all. Engagement always makes a difference, and it always feels so good to meet people worldwide with a different perspectives on life.
I'm grateful for the upvotes I get and the many things I have learnt here though there are times you could make a post that you feel should be shared with the world and made public through curations that don't happen and times that you are surprised at a thing you termed simple at heart, yet gets massive reception and upvote.
These happenings more or less encourage one to go on doing what they know best and have learnt. Just growing at a step-by-step pace. Kudos to the curators👍
Thanks for your genuine interest in growth and a lovely post.
Honestly, I'm quite happy with the amount of votes I'm getting, and I can't say it's without effort, because I really spend most of my day interacting with people on Hive. Some people don't understand why others get so many votes on Hive, and honestly, sometimes I don't understand the awards for certain posts either. It's just that some people spend years here to get 40 dollars for every post and they still comment on people on a daily basis and write the best posts they can. I think I might write a post about this soon :P
tI think getting upvote less or more is not the recipient right to decide nor to say any about it. It's all on the curator, its their privilege and discretion to decide. So there isn't any one who has right to say they should get more upvote regardless their quality content, being original, or whatsoever.
if there is a shitty content writer, write everything wrongly, but the curators love him/her, then upvoting that person 100 HBD for a shitty post of 50 words with no thumb might be not enough...
Discussing crypto market into Africa with general topics I would suggest team @jj-finance tackling topics to assist, always written notes together with 3Speak video discussion calls.
Because awesome.
wait who are you again
The name, is Nobody Special...
Approaching a year in, and regular use for maybe 9 months, I think my posting is okay. It's a mix of my fiction and poetry along with opinion posts, some of which are prompt responses.
I try to respond to folks who leave a comment, even if it's only a thank you
I think my curation and responses to others may be on the light side, and more engagement there would increase responses to me.
But happy to take any input I may have missed.
Only thing I'd recommend is to maybe delegate out HP when you have more of it so you can keep some of it to use for further influence and in combination with comments. I think people generally like receiving an upvote along with comments or if the vote doesn't land or is worth 0, rather than say even 0.001, it may not be as effective. We at @ocdb also often recommend smaller stakeholders to use their influence rather than delegate it out, unless they know they're not going to be voting on things in the near future.
I've got 450 delegated out to 4 different communities. Atm I keep 75-100 on hand and delegate the rest.
While it's great to be supportive of communities and projects with your delegations, try and look at it this way. If you can get up to your vote being worth 0.01$, for instance you casting 10x daily votes all giving out 1 cent each, that's already better than a majority of accounts and it'll have a bigger impact on your influence/networking. You can use them in combination with a comment or voting on comments you respond and engage with.
If I was at those levels right now knowing what I now I'd try to get to these milestones (even though it's not that easy due to price fluctuations), once reached I'd start delegating whatever I earn afterwards out to keep my 1 cent vote and then aim for the next cent over time. Something to consider if it suits your activity.
Ah, good tip. Thanks
There's also the thing with there being a minimum threshold for rewards, I think it's if the post/comment has 50% into HBD enabled (majority do), then if you don't reach at least a certain threshold the comment/post won't pay out at all and for instance if your vote is only worth 0.001 or so you won't get any curation from it and the authors most likely won't see any rewards.
You seem underrewarded at quick glance, threw you a follow to check up on it over time!
Thanks!
Interesting topic discussion. I'm fairly new here and I think I make good quality and engaging content. I've noticed that I often get good comments on my posts probably because I try to engage with other users as much as I can. At this stage, I'm not sure whether I should be upvoted by more curators or not but I'll like to know what your thoughts are on attracting more upvotes from curators?
Your content is giving me a hint that you're using AI to either produce or help improve the writing of it, seems very broad and general on topics but at least you seem to be putting in the work engaging and seem to know what you're posting about when responding to people. Will try take a deeper look later.
Thanks for the feedback! I use AI to help me improve the writing, I've a keen understanding about the topics I post about but it is not that sophisticated compared to AI. So I utilise it to get deeper about the topic. Should I try shifting from been very broad and general to more specific and niche content?
Because I'm helping the witnesses be relevant by adding textual transactions to the chain for them to verify :)
So typically, I contribute to the health of the chain with my transactions(quite an important job by the way), other than that, why anyone should receive a vote is solely the curator's choice.
With the increase in dapps and custom json transactions I think that just adding text transactions in and of itself isn't going to be the most important thing witnesses care about long term. :P
Well, we were on the topic of "content" and a huge piece of hive inflation goes to content creators and that which I just stated is the part all users posting text to the chain play.
Notwithstanding, you have a point and like I said, the reason for getting a vote is really up to the curators.
Yeah but the curators need to have some "demands" if you will, so we can start moving into more deserving votes of people who have demand of consumption themselves. This also creates another underlying value for Hive earned as it's not just being given out easily to anyone but to those who put effort to network and be consumed by others and can drive traffic to their posts on average more.
not sure if i do deserve more upvotes , so far i can't realy complain and to be honnest more feed back would be way more intresting then just an upvote , all those voting trails are nice to see, but in the end the ones that really value what you post leave a comment .
Some interesting replies.
Any system for upvotes will please some and miss others, that's just the way it is.
I would say Hive tends to reward the picture and not the written word, which is a shame as so many poems and great stories go unrewarded. I try to reward under rewarded authors that post good content in the Silver Bloggers community.
A good example was @stuartcturnbull when he posted during a collab, and glad to see you interacting on his comment, sometimes that is even more pleasing than getting an upvote.
It even defines the type of content that users produce.
Will keep this open to see if there are more interesting replies.
Thanks for writing about this important topic, I am not claiming I deserve more upvotes if there are other content creators creating more useful or better content then me but all I want to say I don't get upvotes from different curators, means we badly needs diversification of manul upvotes, all content creators are getting upvotes from same supporters again and again that's why there are so many writers struggling to get some valuable upvotes out of there current circles
Thank you for opening up such a forum for discussion with you directly.
Everybody wants upvotes, that’s facts. Me (and you included). I understand making quality content is what can get you upvotes. (All the measures of “quality” on the blockchain being taken into consideration)
I spend two and half hours on average on a post(writing and editing). I put a lot of effort into making sure that my posts do not only make sense, or adds value, but I also try to make anyone reading my post enjoy reading. To say it simply, I put a lot of effort in making a post.
I mentioned how long I spend making a post somewhere and it shocked the people. Some of them use under 45minutes to write, edit, and publish posts.
This has affected my consistency a bit cuz it is actually work for me to be here and make content and engage. While it is “not that hard” for some. It got kinda frustrating making this effort to create content and getting barely any sense of appreciation for my efforts from the blockchain.
This is something I just needed to get out. I am not asking for anything. I have grown on the blockchain and have come to understand it more now.
Thanks for creating the platform for me to let my frustrations out.
May I suggest that maybe it will be easier if you do perhaps one post every three days for a while, and use the other days purely for comments and browsing? Also, do you use Discord? Once you have made friends and found your place, Hive won't feel like work, but will be a joy.
Welcome, I hope you will learn to love it here as much as I do :)
Thank you so much.
Yes I use discord now. When I mentioned at the last part that I’ve grown on the blockchain discord is part of the tools I have learned about which has helped me a lot. I have joined communities and met other creators whom I interact with on their posts.
I am still unlearning that consistency is not doing something every single day. When I miss up to three days I get worked up about it. And it makes me feel I’m failing to keep my focus which affects me mentally.
Really thank you so much. This is really helpful. I will put your advice into consideration.
A lot of the top creators don't post every day. In fact some make posts which can take over a day to create. So long as you post a couple of times a week and engage daily, you are ok. Once you get settled in you can focus more on making it daily :)
This is really helpful.
I sincerely appreciate you.
My pleasure :) Hive should be a joy, not something that you do just for the possible earnings
Yes. I’m now having much fun here

At the moment I probably shouldn't. Because recently I made a few shitposts. But I have been here for more than a 5 years and I do feel a bit of regret that my splinterlands posts are making more than my art posts. During those 5 years I have not cashed anying out and if I remember correctly only powered down to buy splinterlands packs. I plan to still be active here after another 5 or 10 years. I think that my splinterlands posts are valued great. One of them currently has payout of 27.50 so I definitely can't complain. But I made a lot of art posts that made a lot less. And only 1 of my nft was sold. For some of those NFT I am only asking 25 or even 11 hive. When I first joined hive I was looking for a place to showcase my art and I guess I think that it could be appreciated more. of course that is my extremely biased and egoistical opinion. On the other note while some of my splinterlands posts are getting awesome rewards they are barely getting any comments. And getting more comments would be really nice.
Smart is sexy and quite frankly I'm both. I understand where the Zeitgeist is, I have flair, and I'm woke without policing other people's behaviour and for these reasons, I deserve a nice juicy upvote!
I don't know, I just write what I think
To be honest, at the beginning time, most users expect upvotes because they want more rewards.
I am sharing some thoughts from that time while I was new to this platform.
I have seen several times a user with a higher reputation receive more upvotes as well as reward compared to the user with a low reputation when the article quality of both users was almost the same. What created the differences??
From my perspective, I thought both of them deserve almost same to same upvotes.
I can never say that I deserve more upvotes because it depends on other users who reading my article. If they think I deserve more then I will get it but if they think I don't deserve upvotes then at first I should check why I don't deserve it.
Over the last few days I haven't been able to post daily due to various other commitments, so instead I've just been making an effort to vote on more people in my feed and looking for new users that I can follow, adding a bit more engagement here and there where I find something interesting. I think that it's possibly something that is largely overlooked by newer users that your votes on posts and comments turn back into returned HP which can help to grow your account.
I'm happy just being here and adding value where I can and am very grateful when I get curation and upvotes. I can't understand why people complain about not getting voted, then perhaps they need to look at what they can improve. Just my opinion.
I would absolutely hate Hive to end up going the advert way that most of the Web2 social medias went, I kind of feel like that's selling out.
Generally, I've found that lots of upvotes on HIVE usually come from the communities which I am involved in, aka part of.
I guess in this sense, it is similar to web2 too. People tend to read things from other people within their own social circle. That's how it is with facebook, insta, tiktok, and what not isn't it? We have our friends which we follow, and thus consume their content.
Upvotes seem (to me) to be a validation of friends who've said "Hey I've seen your latest content. Not bad."
So that's how I see it. Of course, once in awhile, I do consume content from outside my community too, that's like when something goes viral just like in social media, or another person in reblogs and it catches my eye.
Long story short, HIVE is alot more similar to the web2 social sites than some would care to admit.
What can I say. I have been here over 5 years and generally putting effort into my posts. Okay, there are a couple of shitsters I have done 😀. By that I mean one photo and very little text.
Generally, I am pleased with my upvotes but I think, I deserve more for some very high effort posts but only get around 10 Hive rewards. Then again sometimes I make a moderate effort post and this one takes off as hell. Makes no sense at times.
Sorry, dont have any new users to reccommend, havent been following new ones lately.
A really interesting approach this time!
I am so stubborn that sooner or later I will get your votes, but not this way. I write mostly about what I care about, not just here, but in real life. There's not a lot of that kind of content here, and it's not popular for the most part. But that's the kind of content I read here. Content that has life, soul and heart. Sometimes it's tears, but it's life nonetheless).

That's in fact a funny question! And I predict, you'll get TONs of comments below ;)
Though the mechanisms are all available to distribute money, the balance between users receiving tons of rewards versus those that aren't receiving, or receiving very little, is still too skewed. Curator teams are trying to make a difference here, which is super! However when we grow, which most of us want, I suspect this model will not work anymore. We'll end up with a gazillion more users, communities and all that, whilst the HIVE token itself will not grow as much in relative terms. Users will have to deal with lower dollar values on their posts across the board. This is something I always wondered about, even before I joined this community and published my first-ever post to the chain. The fact is, many great content creators slow down and even stop their posting (and engaging) when they see their post rewards drop. We need to think of a different reward model to bring HIVE and all its communities and users into the future.... Oops, this comment starts looking like a post that fits into the RANT and COMPLAINT community... Ok, I'll stop...
As for the answer to your question. Donno to be honest. Obviously, I believe my time spend in the HIVE ecosystem for the greater benefit (like manual curating almost every day, trying to entice others to put effort into what they do in posts and comments, all the time spend for HIVE but not visible on the blockchain), and my time spend on my own posts as well as comments, deserve tons of rewards. However, I still see quite some content that deserves more rewards than they get. That said, also I see tons of users and posts that get way too much rewards {shut up edje, this isn't a RANT comment LOL}.
Anyways, NJOY all that comes out for you with this post ;)
This post has been the answer to my question regarding my publications, because although I have been guided by hivers (or hiveans) friends, nothing I do has turned out to be positive at all.
I would like to get your opinion regarding my content and what things I could improve in the posts I write.
Thanks for taking the time to help us improve our content.
Pretty cool, this had been an answer to my question with the few months I spent on hive have been wondering what Curators consider before curating post. Thank you acid for driving this out, Am turning a new leaf in paying more attention on hive I will just do the good man work to earn ya attention 😉
According to my perspective, if my post is adding something in concerned community in which I published my content it can be one factor for curation. Moreover, votes I got from curator of that community will add more hive power for me in reward. It will motivate me to bring more good ideas and creativity in that community. More I grow in hive power and content, more I shall be a winner for that community. In short, more upvotes, more hive power and more creativity can be winning point to develop even hive platform. In this way, we can find more creative minds all around.
Hi @acidyo thanks for sharing your thoughts on this topic. I agree that Hive is different from other platforms and we need to understand how the rewards system works. Curators should reward quality content and positive community members. I create original and engaging content on topics I care about. I research, use sources, and format my posts well. I interact with other users and leave meaningful comments. I reply to comments on my posts and start conversations. I learn and improve my skills and knowledge. I take feedback seriously and apply it to my future posts. Do you have any helpful tips or suggestions for me? Also, I’d appreciate it if you could check out my blogs and share your feedback.
I still do not agree with the voting system but since I do not have the ability to change its operation, criticizing it and complaining would be absurd.
The system is highly linked to money, to rewards, unlike other networks where a Like is just that, here a Like has an economic value that derives in that other aspects lose importance, such as the Follow, the comments, the Dislike (Downvote), the reblog and this is what really worries me.
I would like to find a method where all actions have a value and make users interested, that's why I like HiveBuzz because it gives you a badge for commenting, posting or having your comment as the most voted, it gives a non-monetary value to what is done on the platform and for me, is the way to avoid that Hive becomes this platform where 'I will vote on Lana Rhoades post because I know the curators follow her and I will win if I vote her before them'' without even reading and interacting with her content. Some time ago I thought of a way, but it turned out to be very restrictive and I know it would destroy the Trails, exhaust the curators and change the platform a lot:
Imagine that to cast a vote (positive or negative), you must write a comment of a certain number of characters according to your reputation, the more reputation the less characters and vice versa.
In the case that I Joseph, with my reputation of 66 (for example) did not write a comment of at least 240 characters, my vote would reward the user who created the content but I would NOT receive a healing reward.
You keep the voting system, but in my opinion you would be giving the obligation to others to interact in order to receive profit, this in turn generating more comments, debates, reblogs and indirectly helping the main creator to know what he liked and what he can improve of his content.
I say all this thinking about the main question Why should you get more upvotes?, and that question makes me ask myself Do I want more votes or more interaction?
We all want more votes here, but it is correct to distribute them in a more linear way. I think it should be even more profitable for Hive. Vote for constantly powerdown Hivers is not healthy for the platform but the freedom to choose to do so is sacred.
Es un interesante tema. Realmente no se si debería tener mas votos a favor o menos pero si me gustaría aprender y seguir mejorando.
I wish I could receive more votes on my content although I have noticed that posts with content with writing characters longer than 2000 have received better votes from curators other than myself, I still believe in the idea that content can be established even by at least 500 characters as long as the message addressed in the text is delivered simply and directly to the reader, this is one of the reasons that make me only post in #HiveGaming, #DBuzz and some rare micro blogs with the summaries of my participation in Splinterlands, dCrops and dCity, or as the. definethedollar would say dShitty.
Your idea is quite interesting because getting directions from someone who has experience can save novice players months of trial and error. Despite not having the same experience as you, I have already managed to help some people in this way and it is always very useful for them.
I can't complain about any of my rewards at all, I'm extremely grateful and do my best to earn them. I believe there are many points that I can improve but the main one (which constantly bothers me) is English. My translation is done in DeepL with manual corrections of things that I feel are wrong or that could be written better, but not knowing fluent English is my Achilles heel and I hope to resolve this one day.
This is like my 7 months on hive and to be honest, it is a nice platform. It is more friendly than other platforms and more ‘newbie’ friendly. Newbies can find a community that is so friendly to newbies and would take them along with contests.
Oftentimes, I wonder what are others doing that they are getting more upvotes. But I came to realize that no matter the amount of quality content, it is not all that would be curated, it is basically random.
I make original content and I would love to be curated, in order to build my account Hp and to even encourage me more, but as much as I crave to be curated, everyone also craves to be curated. So, I have learned to be patient and to learn ‘what and what’.. to understand the platform more.
Thanks for bringing this up. It is nice. You are also doing a great job curating quality content creators.
A good afternoon to you depending on your home country haha, how are you? Since I started here in the hive community I see in weeks your posts in trending and getting a vote from you could be an important step to increase my reputation and engagement in the hive network, however my posts are about graphic arts, AI art, games and Splinterlands I don't see something that calls your attention.
Hello there, this is an interesting take on the idea of helping. Lately, I've going about one of my fixed posts for the week which is usually the one that takes more time. Maybe you could check it out. It's my Woodworking Wednesdays Series.
Anyhow, I think the diversification of content and quality of resources does a lot for the kind of rewards you receive up to a point. Content creators are somehow limited on this regard as I believe bigger stakeholders, project leaders and Hive Builders get rewarded for their contributions.
I wouldn't say I'd mind getting more upvotes, but I think I need better gear in one sense and reaching out more to other users as well.
Maybe this wasn't the idea of comment you were expecting but, it was a chance to say something related to upvotes.
Thanks for this article! 🙏
I think that sometimes my post may deserve some more attention.
I started writing just about cryptos, cryptos, my work on cryptos and cryptos again. Then I understood that I could use Hive as a personal blog as well, so I started blogging about some things I am doing, other that I would like to do and so on.
I try to pay effort when writing contents, to give value or at least pleasure to people when they read about my passions and work.
So I would love to get an impression from your perspective.
I'm not going to talk about me, at least not directly. I think there are certain types of content that are undervalued. Among them, my main interest, which is poetry. I don't think it's a problem of Hive in particular, but something broader, cultural or social. It's a long-standing paradox: poets have a high cultural valuation, but few economic incentives. At least in my country, Argentina, which is what I know (but I don't think it's much different elsewhere) poets (even those who are already quite renowned, with some exceptions) have to pay to edit their books (because, in fact, very few buy them), do free poetry recitals, free magazines, and so on. In Hive poetry does not win many votes either. There are well paid poems, but they are usually from users who have upvotes because the curators follow them from other communities. Of course there are curators who vote for poetry, but they are the fewest. For example, the full upvote on the account of the community that, I believe, is the largest and most active poetry community (Blockchain Poets) is only $0.09. I think that another thing that plays against us is that to get upvotes is generally not enough with quality content, but you have to do some personal marketing and social relations, which are things in which poets, usually, and again generalizing, we are very bad. I think the same thing must happen in other fields (in literary prose, to a lesser extent; in philosophy, etc.). There are some initiatives (like the recent one that rewards the author of the week in the community I mentioned; or also the ocd incubator in some literature communities in general) that come to improve the situation, but a little attention from some whales would come in handy to these communities or niches that, for whatever reason, generate quality posts (not all of course, there is also low quality poetry), but very few economic rewards. Thank you!
