I could not agree more. I feel like this discussion is especially hard to have with people 40 + - i.e., my parents, they don't really place any energy into their digital privacy and how they use the internet, and it's concerning at times.
I've been trying to get my parents to download Signal (encrypted messaging app) forever now with no luck haha...perhaps I should try getting them to use it in conjunction with their existing apps, instead of trying to force the complete replacement of them.
