Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to talk about being able to knock off a few different proverbial birds with one stone.
The Adult Blend
It sounds like something NSFW, doesn't it?! 😉
No, this isn't anything sensual. This is just something that I consider to be a good part of my day these days. What am I referring to?! Well being able to blend things together to maximize the use of my time.
Lately I've been doing a number of things, more than I have before, when my son goes to bed. It's a mad dash to get things done between when he falls asleep and when I am supposed to fall asleep. I've often got laundry to fold, dishes to put in the dishwasher or put away in the drawers and some light cleaning to do. This is what I am calling the adult blend. Combine that with writing some posts on Hive, dropping comments and all the while listening to podcasts. It feels like quite a concoction on the nightly but it has been very therapeutic for me.
I am definitely trying to be flexible in my habits and styles of doing things. I have to be because it's important for my brain and my mental state overall. I do like to get into habits and routines for things but having the ability to be flexible on that front is really important. When I am flexible, I am able to adapt to things quicker than I would be otherwise. With the world the way it is today, that's a really important thing in a lot of ways!
What I think is important to be able to do is generate satisfaction from these types of things. By being able to get satisfaction from getting house work done, getting some educational stuff added into it, and then also some fun downtime, I am able to really help improve my mental state. Having a good mental state is so important for the world we are living in today, where things are so chaotic and in a lot of ways evil, that it's important we fight back on that as much as we can with our minds.
The negative control of our minds is an agenda as old as time, when we think of it. Back in the middle ages around the invention of the printing press, it was incredibly damaging for the church and religious state for people to think for themselves. So much so that many people were killed for getting people exposed to reading and thinking for themselves. Fast forward through the generations there are many examples where people thinking for themselves is not advantageous to the power structure and they are killed. Martin Luther is another example of this where he was pushing back against the religious power structures dogma and was killed for it.
By being able to expose myself to a very wide variety of different topics and thought tracks, I am able to help open up my world view quite a bit which is really important in the day we live in. There is far too much isolation and silo-ing of people. It is easier to control people when their perspectives are very focused on one thing and they don't have exposure to other areas. It is both nefarious as well as likely human nature to be focused instead of broad.
Combining all of these things certainly helps me check off a few boxes on my daily routines that's for sure!
What about you, do you find it enjoyable to multitask on things where you can do something subconsciously while consciously engaging in a topic? Let me know in the comments!

My wife thinks she is good at multitasking, but I don't think she is as good as she thinks she is. I am horrible at it!
Hahah if you ask my wife she says I suck at it yet these things get done and the house is largely in order. I think she's just jealous :D
Haha, that's a good attitude to have!
Is it alright for a woman to visit the man cave? Never thought I'd do that but this was a blog that struck a note so here I am.
I'm always doing more than one thing at a time, and my mind is always going. My husband sometimes says he can hear me thinking. I break up routine, and resist regimentation, although I'm extremely responsible if something needs to be done, if it's important.
Yes! My style is not to have a style.
Hope the visit to the man cave doesn't offend sensibilities 😇
Hahah yes it's welcome for you to stop by of course! :D
I know what you mean and I can likely relate. My wife can tell when I'm thinking by the look on my face! I often don't respond to something immediately if it's more than mundane stuff. I think it's more my nature to give something a little thought before responding especially with her as what I say "may be recorded for quality training and review purposes" LOL. Mentally of course.
It's fun to have a mixed style and one that's flexible!
That is a good one to learn. I'll be evaluating my life with it so that I could check how I am using my time
That's good, it's important to be able to combine a few things into one like this!

I think the more the advancement of humanity, the more we can maximize our time, efforts and even use more percentage of our brains and capabilities. It's satisfying to get a lot of things done, especially when you realize you've achieved a lot at the end of the day and still have time to relax
wow;)) it's just what I feel!
it seems to me all parents live the same way;)
now I try to reteach myself and go to bed earlier, not at 2-3 am like it was before;)
Now my son is elder, and I can devote some DAY time to some of my homework. Though it's different.
At night I enjoy loneliness and calmness more;)
