Since I was a little boy I always liked to draw, it was something uncontrollable. Although I usually did it at school. In the beginning there were several of us who were inclined to that kind of bug for drawing. Something that until these days has accompanied me, at least as far as I can see, the thing is that when I saw an animated series at the end I ended up somehow on paper and pencil.
Every day at school we were shown the drawings of whatever was the boom of the moment, I remember those Japanese manga robots, I used to draw a lot of Voltucinco or Transformers. Also the Disney animated cartoons caught my attention, many girls asked me for drawings of princesses and those things of girls, which I did not refuse to paint, because in the end I enjoyed it.
Desde pequeño siempre me gustó dibujar, era algo incontrolable. Aunque normalmente lo hacía en el colegio. Al principio éramos varios los que nos inclinábamos por esa especie de bichito por el dibujo. Algo que hasta estos días me ha acompañado, al menos por lo que veo, el caso es que cuando veía una serie de animación al final acababa de alguna manera en papel y lápiz.
Todos los días en el colegio nos ponían los dibujos de lo que fuera el boom del momento, recuerdo aquellos robots del manga japonés, yo dibujaba mucho a Voltucinco o Transformers. También me llamaban la atención los dibujos animados de Disney, muchas niñas me pedían dibujos de princesas y esas cosas de niñas, que yo no me negaba a pintar, porque al final me divertía.
Over time the drawings were changing, but I think the essence never left, although in adulthood I left it a little to oblivion. Perhaps the motivation didn't do much, but I still come back to it every now and then, as if to not lose the habit, although I feel that the less I do it, the more I lose the touch.
But as these days I finished watching the chapters of the first installment of this One Piece series that these days has been making waves in the networks, well, I kind of encouraged myself to draw. Maybe to remember those times when I couldn't stop drawing in my school notebooks. So I did a search for what I could paint about this series that I loved, of which I did a post recently.
Con el tiempo los dibujos fueron cambiando, pero creo que la esencia nunca se fue, aunque en la adultez lo dejé un poco al olvido. Quizás la motivación no hizo mucho, pero sigo volviendo a ello de vez en cuando, como para no perder la costumbre, aunque siento que cuanto menos lo hago, más pierdo el toque.
Pero como estos días terminé de ver los capítulos de la primera entrega de esta One Piece serie que estos días ha estado haciendo furor en las redes, pues como que me animé a dibujar. Quizás para recordar aquellos tiempos en los que no podía parar de dibujar en mis cuadernos del colegio. Así que hice una búsqueda de lo que podía pintar sobre esta serie que me encantó, de la que hice un post hace poco.
I wanted to paint the most original character from this dramatization, so obviously it would be Monkie D. Luffy, with that character's signature straw hat. So I searched the internet, I found lots of sleeves of the character, different shapes and poses, but in reality I liked this one that I share with you, although I was not very faithful to the original, so please excuse me.
So let's get to work, I took a blank sheet of paper, a common pencil, an eraser and I started to draw these two versions of Luffy. As you may notice, I don't get along very well with the faces, although I do my best, sometimes they look better than others, sometimes they get complicated and end up crumpled in a basket, but what's worth it is the attempt.
Quería pintar el personaje más original de esta dramatización, así que obviamente sería Monkie D. Luffy, con el característico sombrero de paja del personaje. Así que busqué en internet, encontré montones de mangas del personaje, diferentes formas y poses, pero en realidad me gustó este que comparto con vosotros, aunque no fui muy fiel al original, así que disculpadme.
Así que manos a la obra, tomé una hoja en blanco, un lápiz común, un borrador y me puse a dibujar estas dos versiones de Luffy. Como podrán notar, no me llevo muy bien con las caras, aunque hago lo que puedo, a veces quedan mejor que otras, a veces se complican y terminan arrugados en una canasta, pero lo que vale la pena es el intento.

Cuando el primer personaje iba tomando forma, en este caso el real, me di cuenta de que iba a ser una locura con las sombras, había mucho grafiti por todas partes. Lo más difícil fue obviamente la cara de este chico, siempre quieres que el dibujo se parezca lo más posible al que estás viendo. Pero en cierto modo es divertido ver el trabajo que se hace con algunas de las otras líneas.
