Hello, dear friends, I hope you're all doing well and in good health. A few days ago was the birthday of the great artist Vincent Van Gogh, one of my favorite painters. To celebrate the day and read a little about his life, his works, and his story in general, I made a sketch using only a ballpoint pen on a pay stub. Using this material as a background for my drawings seems really fun and also a bit challenging. I made Van Gogh just observing his surroundings with a sunflower painted yellow, the color he used most in his paintings. I hope you like it.
Hola queridos amigos espero que todos se encuentren muy bien y con mucha salud, hace días atrás fue el cumpleaños del gran artista Vincent Van Gogh, uno de mis pintores favoritos. Para celebrar ese día y leer un poco de su vida, sus obras y su historia en general hice un boceto con solamente bolígrafo sobre un recibo de pago, utilizar este material como fondo para mis dibujos me parece muy divertido y también un poco desafiante. Hice a Van Goh solo observando a su alrededor con un girasol pintado de amarillo, el color que más usaba en sus pinturas. Espero que les guste.

After finishing my shopping, I think I value the receipt more than what I actually bought. It's a bit strange, but I like using it. It's like creating prints of whatever I like. So, I had a receipt in very good condition, on which I began to draw Van Gogh's face. I used a simple pencil that wouldn't stain the paper, and that's how I did each part.
Luego de terminar las compras creo que le doy más valor al recibo de compra que lo que eh comprado en realidad jjejeje es algo extraño, pero como me gusta usarlo, son como crear estampas de lo que más me guste. Así que tenía un recibo en muy buen estado sobre el cual comencé a dibujar el rostro de Van Gogh, utilicé un simple lápiz que no manchara el papel, así fuí haciendo cada parte.

Then I started using the pen, painting over the pencil strokes. I don't use any virtuoso techniques here, just rough scribbles to give shape to each important aspect of the face. To ensure each part comes out well, I only make the smallest scribbles where shading is needed, such as the eyes or hair.
Luego comencé a utilizar el bolígrafo, fui pintando encima del trazo hecho con lápiz, aquí no utilizo ninguna técnica virtuosa, solamente garabatos accidentados para darle forma a casa aspecto importante del rostro. Para que cada parte vaya saliendo bien solo hago los garabatos más pequeños en aquellos lugares donde sea necesario hacer sombras, como por ejemplo en los ojos o el cabello.

I continue the same process around the entire pencil drawing, using the ballpoint pen to fill in scribbles wherever possible. To give the drawing more depth and contrast, I'll later switch to a darker ink pen.
Continúo haciendo el mismo proceso alrededor de todo el dibujo a lápiz, con el bolígrafo voy rellenando con garabatos todos los sitios posibles. Para darle más profundidad y contraste al dibujo cambiaré luego a un bolígrafo de tinta más oscura.

As I mentioned before, I add more depth to the drawing with the fine-point pen. You can notice how the ink is a little looser than with a regular ballpoint pen, and how the tone also changes. Finally, I add the only color this illustration could have, which is the yellow of the sunflower.
Como mencioné anteriormente, con el bolígrafo punta fina le doy más profunidad al dibujo, puede notar como la tinta es un poco más suelta que el bolígrafo común, y tambien como el tono también cambia. Por último agrego el úinico color que podría llevar esta ilustración y es el color amarillo en la flor de girasol.
What did you think of the result? Van Gogh's life was undoubtedly very sad, and it showed the difficult side of what an artist goes through: often leaving this world without understanding it or being understood, much less without seeing the success of the works you create with such passion. Qué les ha parecido el resultado? sin duda la vida de Van Gogh fue muy triste, y mostro aquella parte dura que recorre el artista, muchas veces irse de este mundo sin entenderlo y sin ser entendido, y mucho menos sin ver triunfar las obras que haces con tanta pasión, por eso me identifico mucho con su historia. It's a great idea. It's very creative and fun to draw on receipts. It's like going back to the days when you used to draw on the back of your notebooks.
i draw on old books at times because i love how the script looks behind the art
It's also a good idea, and apart from the letters, the yellow leaves also give it that classic aesthetic.
